Country Briefs are designed to increase your knowledge of your selected country and to hone your research skills. Each brief should be at least two (2) pages double-spaced (12-point font and 1-inch margins) + separate Bibliography page. In addition to the depth and factual accuracy of the brief’s written content, students will be also graded on spelling, grammar, and overall organization. You should always cite your sources, not only in the text noting where specific information (especially statistics) come from, but also in a full form separate Bibliography. Please use either MLA or the Chicago Manual of Style for all citations. Please never cite YouTube or Wikipedia! PLEASE NOTE THAT FAILURE TO PROVIDE IN-TEXT CITATIONS WILL RESULT IN A REDUCED SCORE.

Find a recent (and factual!) news article or peer-reviewed journal article that discusses a current political issue or recent political event (conflict, election, protest, scandal, etc.) in your country. Explain this issue or event and how it relates to the major themes and/or concepts we have studied so far (state, regime, nation, etc.) Why is this issue or event important to your country? How do you think it can be resolved?
