INJUSTICE IS MY PAPER TOPIC.
Some pointers to consider as you begin:
My INTRODUCTION…
____begins with some sort of ‘hook’ to catch the reader’s attention: a brief, anecdotal story; a rhetorical question; an engaging quote.
____defines/introduces briefly the idea of justice/injustice
____briefly introduces your specific injustice (human rights violation)
____narrows to a clearly-worded, single-sentence thesis.
My 1st draft…
_____meets or almost meets the 10 full pages / 3000 word requirement.
_____uses clear section headings from the outline (I: Intro, II: What is Injustice?, III: My HRV, …)
_____body paragraphs have solid topic sentences and stay focused and on topic.
_____body paragraphs are well-developed: not too long (> ¾ page) or too short (<5 sentences).
_____includes a substantive discussion of the concept of justice and isn’t simply an “all there is to know about __X__ research paper.”
MLA concerns: My paper…
_____ includes a Works Cited Page with complete & perfectly formatted citations for at least 10 sources (5 of which are scholarly sources).
_____ uses proper MLA citation with all my in-text source materials (quotes and paraphrases).
_____DOES NOT use “drop quotes.” All my quotes use signal phrases to integrate them into MY essay.
______follows up all my quotes and paraphrases with both explanation and analysis.
quotes help me to make/prove MY thesis point. They work for ME!
