“Exploring the Scientific Method in Psychology: A Review of a Scholarly Journal Article”

Journal Article Review Assignment
This assignment requires that you review a scholarly journal article. The article must include the
steps to the scientific method such as a methods and results section. The topic must be related to
this course. Your article review is to be 7-8 pages typed and include a title, abstract and reference
page in APA format according to the 7th Edition (the 7-8 pages does include your title, abstract
and reference page). Please use 12 font, 1 inch margins, double spacing, and Times New Roman
font. You will need to upload of the actual journal article for 10 points credit on the allotted class
day.  The total assignment is worth 80 points.

review • problem under investigation or research question(s) • clearly stated
hypothesis or hypotheses • methods used (including brief descriptions of the
study design, sample, and sample size) • study results • implications (i.e., why
this study is important, applications of the results or findings)
III. Article Review Pages –starts on page 3
a. In the first paragraph, share with me what you found interesting about the psychology topic
you selected. Before you even looked at the article you selected, what interested you about this
topic.
b. In the next paragraph or so, state what the research studied and the Hypothesis/ Research
Question of the study. Also, include how they conducted the study and the results of the study.
Was the hypothesis supported and/or research question answered?

c. In the final paragraphs state, what relevance does the study have for the field of Psychology
and discuss your thoughts/opinions regarding the study. Tell me what you found to be the most
interesting information that you learned from the article. Did anything in the journal article

must list the article that you cited.
