Using the template provided on Blackboard, plan an RE unit from the Sydney Catholic Schools curriculum to
accompany the resource being developed for assessment 3.
A sequence of sessions covering the recommended length of the unit (usually 4 weeks). The weekly
allocation should be three sessions, totalling 150 minutes (e.g. 2 x 60-minute and 1x 30-minute sessions or
3 x 50-minute sessions per week.)
The first section of the template requires you to ‘copy and paste’ relevant aspects of the selected Sydney
Religious Education Unit in order to ensure that the learning sessions will reflect the focus and outcomes,
etc., of the Unit.
The recommended structure for a typical session should generally include: (a) brief warm-up, (b)
presentation, (c) engagement through reflection/ wondering, (d) whole class task (sometimes, but not
always), (e) choice activities and (f) end of session reflection on the learning/ consolidation. [note: there are
times when this pattern may not be appropriate. E.g. assessment sessions or prayer sessions.]
Include a list of materials and resources in the appropriate place. Many resources have been introduced in
EDUC 2619 and on blackboard in this unit, as well as in other courses for RE accreditation
