“Analyzing Society Through the Lens of Fahrenheit 451: Exploring Creative and Traditional Approaches to Analytical Writing”

For our final major project this semester, we will be using the novel, Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury as a backdrop to analyze current issues in society.  In this project, everyone is expected to write about 7-10 pages of analytical writing; however, each student has the option to develop the prompt.
As a class, we will develop and explore possible topics for this paper, so stay tuned!
If you would like to continue developing your research writing skills, a traditional research paper is still an option (similar to Composition 2).
If you would like to work in a more creative realm, some other options include but are not limited to:
A series of op-eds for a major media publication (like the LA Times)
A series of formal persuasive letters to a politician or other leader
A creation and analysis of propaganda
A continuing chapter for Fahrenheit 451 with an accompanying analysis
A rhetorical analysis of a series of texts
A website, blog, or other publish online source with analytical writing about your topic
A work of satire with accompanying analysis / explanation of your intentions
