Understanding the Distinction and Impact of Acute Stress Disorder and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

.The purpose of the Week 2 discussion is for you to define the distinction between the trauma-induced disorders of Acute Stress Disorder (ASD) and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). As part of this discussion, you will also examine risk and protective factors for PTSD as well as how PTSD affects individuals and communities. 
Remember to answer the Forum Question by Wednesday and post at least 3 replies by Sunday.
For your Forum answer, please address the following:
1). What are the diagnostic criteria for ASD and PTSD? ( If you were a psychologist, how would you make these diagnoses?).  
2). What factors increase AND decrease the risk of ASD/PTSD in first responders?
3). How do ASD/PTSD affect functioning in individuals?  How do these disorders affect communities?
