The objective of this assignment is to deepen your understanding of how symptoms inform the selection of appropriate interventions and determine the level of care required for individuals with the disorder.
In your paper,
Describe the selected mental health disorder by identifying core symptoms and manifestations.
Choose a disorder that interests you and that you would like to explore further. Examples could include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or any other mental health disorder of your choice.
Describe the specific criteria and diagnostic features outlined in the diagnostic manuals (e.g., DSM-5-TR or ICD-11) that are relevant to the disorder.
Determine an appropriate level of care (outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient programs, inpatient hospitalization, or residential treatment) based on the severity of the identified symptoms.
Explain the significance of assessing the severity, duration, and functional impairment associated with the symptoms of the chosen disorder.
Discuss the efficacy and appropriateness of these level of care interventions based on current research and clinical guidelines.
Discuss the rationale behind selecting the appropriate level of care based on the severity and functional impairment associated with the symptoms.
In your paper, be sure to integrate relevant scholarly sources, research findings, and clinical literature to support your analysis and arguments. You may also include real-life case examples or hypothetical scenarios to illustrate your points but be mindful not to disclose information that someone may not want to be shared.
