In this module you have read about intersectionality and critical race theory. You were tasked with reading Kimberle Crenshaw’s seminal work on intersectionality, reading about both critical race theory and critical race feminism, and watching “Slavery By Another Name.” Please take a reflective moment to process what you have read and watched. Next, define both intersectionality and critical race theory in your own words. Identify at least three practices from “Slavery by Another Name” that demonstrate legalized racism and discrimination embedded in the criminal legal/system of law. Lastly, select a recent crime case (from the last 4 years) that involves a victim at the intersection of at least two marginalized identities. Provide a summary of that case identifying the marginalized identities; discuss how those identities played a role in the case.
