Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand and manage your emotions and those of the people around you. It is a critical factor in all interactions.
Describe a specific interaction or fictional interaction with a patient, and critically reflect on and answer the following questions in relation to this interaction:
• How is Emotional Intelligence (EI) useful in mental health?
• Identify at least one area/element that needs the most attention?
• What specific action will you take to improve your EI? What supports will you need?
• How will this improve your practice as a Mental Health Professional?
Be sure to include a discussion of your emotional reaction to the interaction, and your perspective of what the other persons’ emotional reaction to the interaction was.
Sectional 2: 3-4 paragraphs
Your philosophy statement will explore what mental health means to you and define what tenants define your practice as a mental health professional. Your philosophy statement should be reflective and personal. It is a vivid and scholarly analysis of how you will practice social work and your commitment to the professional career of a social worker.
Think about the conceptual framework that you will operate from as a social worker. What values, concepts, and theoretical approaches guide your practice and lend to your personal view of humanity and the helping relationship? How have your educational journey (academic and field experiences) and your personal experiences contributed to your philosophy statement?
Draw on your personal, professional, classroom, and field placement experiences to tell your story. While this paper is essentially your “story”, it should be done in the form of scholarly analysis.
You must use full APA style in your citations, and at least 3 separate references. Required length is between 2,000-2200 words
