“Exploring the Complexity of Identity in Jhumpa Lahiri’s ‘Interpreter of Maladies’” Dear Professor [Name], I am writing to propose a topic for my Fiction Analysis Essay, which will focus on Jhumpa Lah

Write a (personal) letter to the professor proposing a topic for your Fiction Analysis Essay. Your proposal letter should include the following.
A clear and concise one paragraph summary of the story. Remember, you cannot say everything that is in the story in one paragraph, so you have to choose to talk about what is most important to you.
Make a clear (thesis) statement about why you find the story important. What did you learn from it or what do you want your essay’s reader to learn from it? Basically, explain why you are thinking about doing this proposed essay on the story?
Quote three different sections from the story that support your reading/interpretation of it. Briefly explain each quote means and how it helps with your main argument in #2 above.
Conduct some basic internet research and provide full information on at least two sources (in MLA works cited list style) that you think will be helpful in writing your analysis essay.
Give your proposal a suitable title. Your title should clearly identify author and text as well as the main argument of your proposed essay. Read material on titling a literary essay in Content section.
Use MLA formatting style for documentation.
