Interpretation of what the graph is telling us about happiness and ecological footprint in general. Don’t just comment on only part of the graph; say what the general trend is.
Provide an estimated range (minimum to maximum value) for the correlation coefficient (statistic), with a width of no more than 0.2. For example, a range of correlation coefficients of 0.1 to 0.3 would have a width of 0.2. You can go by just looking at the graph. No calculations are required for this educated guess. One thing I’ll look for though is whether you get the direct of the coefficient correct (positive versus negative). Explain what each number represents, like I did in my example above (the 0.1 to 0.3 and the 0.2).
See examples below for your estimate. Note that the range of correlation coefficients is from -1.0 (indirect or negative correlation) to +1.0 (direct or positive correlation). Support your answer with an explanation of the data points you see.
What could affect the size of the correlation statistic?
Regarding the actual data points (hint: A straight line of dots going at a 45-degree angle would be a very strong correlation.) Does the graph show a straight line?
Regarding how the variables were measured (i.e., what information is used to define them, as well as other potential information not considered?)
