Due to the increasing number of cases coming into the criminal justice system, the court system has become overcrowded and assembly-line justice has resuited. To remedy this, some have called for the decriminalization of certain offenses, particularly drug crimes, because they are considered victimless. What are the advantages and disadvantages of such a strategy? Can you think of other mechanisms for reducing the influx of cases into the system? This exercise will require that you complete outside research that is correct and balanced in approach (realistic possibilities).
