Title: “Lip Reading using Deep Learning: A Novel Approach for Speech Recognition in Noisy Environments” Introduction: – Brief overview of the importance of speech recognition in various applications such as human-computer interaction, security, and accessibility for individuals

The research topic will be in a discipline area of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical
Sciences in a topic relevant to the degree and subject to the availability of supervision. Students will
be expected to identify a topic for investigation in the semester prior to commencing their
dissertation and from this point devote a proportion of their study time to preparatory work. The
research topic will be developed in consultation with the Programme Director/Programme
Advisor/potential supervisor(s). (PGR1 Research Proposal or similar – see AUT Postgraduate
Handbook).
