Explain the relationship between language and colonization.
TOPIC 3 – Identity – Choose three works that you read in Module 3 (“The Land Ethic”, “Monsoon and Peacock,” and “My Cephalopod Year,” by Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Marge Piercy’s poem, “The Seven of Pentacles,” and “The Low Road.” and address the following:
Explain how these works are related (compare).
Describe how the earth is related to literature and the human experience.
Describe what your place is within the context of these texts and movements.
TOPIC 4 – Compare and Contrast – Choose two works from Module 2 and two works from Module 3 and analyze them using a focus of your choice. For example, discuss a theme such as conquest or machismo or you may choose one of the literary criticisms introduced in Module 1.
REQUIREMENTS:
You must use MLA format (font, page numbering, spacing, margins, citation format, etc…).
Your essay must include an introduction paragraph, a conclusion paragraph, and at least three body paragraphs.
In order to meet Gordon Rule requirements for this course, your essay must be a minimum of 600 words (approximately 2 to 3 pages double-spaced, not including the Works Cited page).
Provide at least one piece of textual evidence (quote, paraphrase, and/or summary) from each work to support your points.
Remember – use an in-text/parenthetical immediately after each quote, paraphrase, or summary.
Remember – include a full citation in the Works Cited page at the end of your paper.
