1. Identify key concepts including terms and definitions for each theory.
2. Identify key individuals associated with each theory.
3. Identify strengths and weaknesses of each theoretical position.
Activities:
1. Read Chapters Five through Seven
2. Read the Illustrative Biographies of Mahatma Gandhi, Marilyn Monroe and Mother Teresa
3. Access two (2) Journal Articles from Wilmington’s Library using APA Psych ARTICLES
4. Visit website: http://www.simplypsychology.org/
5. Answer the Activity Questions
Activity Questions:
1. Compare/contrast the biographies – how do their personalities fit the theorists they represent? Which
of the biographies fit your own personality? Why? Give specific examples.
2. Locate one Journal Article for Horney and Allport from Wilmington’s Library using
PsychARTICLES. In a paragraph (75 words or more), summarize their theories. How are they different?
Which theory fits you? Why/why not? Be specific.
3. After visiting the website listed above (link to Erikson is under “Psychologists”), summarize Erikson’s
theory. Choose another person (family or friend) besides yourself and explain the stage they are currently
in according to Erikson. What milestones have they encountered? Be specific.
4. How has this assignment impacted you? What did you learn?
Criteria for Response Paper:
1. Paper should be at least two full pages in length. This does not include any cover sheet or citation
page you add.
2. Paper should be typed in Times New Roman, 12 point font, double spaced.
3. Paper and citation page should be written in full APA style.
4. Your response paper should be separate from this instruction sheet.
5. Turn your paper into Canvas within the current week’s assignment
