“Exploring Gun Control: A Comparative Analysis of Differing Perspectives”

Guidelines:
● Consider the contrasting/differing opinions we have read on ONE of the issues
(guns, abortion, technology), and write a comparative evaluation of their
approach; don’t just say which one you agree with, but look at the two essays in
their entirety: and how they develop their argument, how they support their
position, what kind of communicative strategies they use, etc.
● You must use at least ONE of the articles we have read; for the second article,
you can also use one of the readings from the syllabus, or you can look at a
different writing you found on the same issue that you think is interesting to put in
a dialogue with the first piece.
● You should write for me and your classmates, so an audience generally familiar
with the essays: no need to summarize the whole articles, but use paraphrase and
quotation pointedly and effectively, when they are useful for your interpretation
and response to the essays.
● The articles on guns and abortion were taken from the following anthology:
Last Name, First Name. “Title of Essay.” The Ethical Life: Fundamental
Readings in Ethics and Moral Problems, edited by Russ Shafer-Landau, Oxford
University Press, New York, 2021, XXX–XXX
The rest of the articles are online sources and can be quoted accordingly,
following MLA rules.
If you instead choose to use any outside resources that you have encountered,
you must also list and cite them in MLA format.
● Your essay should be about 4 to 5 pages long (double-spaced, 12pt. Times New
Roman font).
● Find an original title for your essay.
As you can see from the articles I have chosen Guns. I have attached the sources
