Maximizing Clarity and Usefulness in Technical Writing: Characteristics, Obstacles, and Strategies
Cassandra Race (2019, para. 22) makes this bold claim near the end of Chapter 1 – Introduction to Technical WritingLinks to an external site.. Race’s point is that readers of technical documents aren’t looking to be wowed or entertained. They need clear, efficient writing that can solve their problems and provide useful information.
Based on this week’s reading and your own experience, what characteristics are most necessary to make technical writing clear, efficient, and useful to readers?
What might prevent or get in the way of useful writing?
And finally, what sorts of tools, tricks, and resources can learners in this class use to help make their writing as clear and useful as possible?
Your initial post should answer all three questions above, dedicating a paragraph to each. In your responses, comment on your classmate’s suggestions and ideas. -

Title: Exploring Features and Techniques in Microsoft Word
In your original post, answer the following:
What are some features of Word that you find difficult to use, hard to locate, etc.?
Is there a feature that you think should be placed in another location to make it easier for a user to find? For example, languages, hidden characters, headers, tabs, margins, etc.
Have you learned about a new feature in Word from this class that you did not know about or that you thought was too difficult (use or locate, etc.)? If so, explain your answer. If you have not learned anything new thus far, tell your peers about a feature that you find particularly helpful-maybe even a feature that not many people know about.
In your responses to your classmates, address the following:
Review your classmate’s response.
What was the first thing that came to mind when you reviewed the classmate’s response?
How will learning the new techniques make life easier on the job and personally?
Compare previous ways of completing tasks with new ways and ideas.
Highlight the points you feel are good, but ask questions to encourage conversation and challenge to think critically.
Discuss additional elements of Word that you feel could assist or be beneficial.
Share whether you will use any of the elements learned in the discussion. -

For this assignment, you will reflect on your view of people skills and assess your own people skills, as presented through one of the many self-assessment tools freely available on the Internet.
Part 1: Reflect on the following quote: “You don’t always hire for hard skills, you hire for soft skills; you can always teach hard skills.” Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Justify your response.
Part 2: From a subjective perspective, how would you rate your people (soft) skills?

Interview with a TRT at a Veterans Home: Exploring Ethical Issues and Evidence-Based Education Interventions for Improved Health Outcomes The interview took place at the veterans home in Payson, UT, where Shelly, a Therapeutic
write 250 words that respond to the following
questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. Be substantive and clear, and
use examples to reinforce your ideas.
Conduct an interview (you must conduct the interview physically, in person) with a health care or non-health care
professional who works with the identified vulnerable population at your chosen (and faculty-approved) agency. (I chose the veterans home in Payson, UT to visit and Shelly is who I talked to).
This person may be a social worker, case manager, agency director, minister, and so on. ( Shelly is a TRT therapeutic Recreational Technician).
You will need to collect the following information during the interview and discuss it in this week’s Discussion Board:
Describe the setting and the role of the professional in the care, guidance, and assistance of the vulnerable population. Where did the interview take place? (Shelly is someone that helps to coordinate care for the patient such as care and improvement with physical, social, and emotional skills. I met her in the lobby and was able to ask questions about what the facility offers, ask about the patients, as well as see the facility itself).
Discuss 2-3 ethical issues or considerations of
managing the vulnerable population group’s care. (confidentiality is a big ethical issue, as well as boundaries of competence)
Identify 2-3 potential evidence-based related
education interventions that you could do (for the population or family) to improve the vulnerable population’s health outcomes based on your assessment and feedback from the agency.
(ketamine treatments could help the veteran community as well as exposure therapy, and yoga). here is the link for the yoga information
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7909482/
Choose 1 evidence-based related education
intervention to improve the health outcomes of this vulnerable population based on your assessment of the population, and explain why you chose it as well as how you anticipate the education intervention to improve their health.
(I have chosen ketamine treatment/therapy for my evidence based related education intervention. I chose it because I have an old co-worker that runs a ketamine clinic and it helps so many people with depression, PTSD, suicidal ideation, anxiety, etc. I believe veterans could really benefit from it and help them live a more “normal” life with having less PTSD episodes).

How will an interprofessional collaborative approach to this educational intervention potentially improve the health outcomes of this vulnerable population?
