    Critical Assessment Presentation
Writing reports and analyzing papers is a major part of critical appraisal; however, there will undoubtedly be times in which you will have to communicate your knowledge and understanding verbally and, very likely to someone who does not have all of the skills that you do. To accomplish this, it is often very beneficial to use a slide presentation. For this assignment, you will develop a slide deck corresponding to your chosen article for the Critical Assessment Project.
You must, at a minimum, have 9 slides (one slide per header featured below). You may use as many slides as you need to ensure the content of your paper is understandable. That being said, please be sure that your slides are directly relevant to a greater understanding of the paper. You will have at least 10 minutes to present your paper (no less, but potentially more, depending on class size), but please be aware of the assigned time limit. A grading rubric for this assignment is provided below.
Please feel free to be creative with backgrounds, animations and graphics in your presentation, as long as they add (and do not detract) from viewership. I would recommend using either the Record function in Powerpoint, or simply doing a Screen Recording of the presentation (the software to use will depend on your operating system – reach out if you have questions).
As with the written assignment, to submit, click the header of this assignment and use the upload function.

  • The Role of National Governments in Addressing Global Climate Change Title: “Government Intervention in Combating Climate Change: A Critical Analysis of the Role of National Governments, with a Focus on the United States”

The Role of National Governments in Addressing Global Climate
The Role of National Governments in Addressing Global Climate Change Objective: To critically analyze the role of national governments, particularly the U.S. government, in addressing global climate change. This assignment will encourage you to think about the spectrum of government intervention, from pure libertarianism and individualism to a benevolent dictatorship, and to support your position with empirical evidence. Instructions: 1. Review the Readings:
- Ensure you have thoroughly read the assigned materials:
- Book chapter: ″The Imperative of Ecological Health″
- Climate Change FAQ (https://www.nytimes.com/article/climate-change-global-warming-faq.html

  • Title: The Debate on Paying College Athletes: Exploring Stakeholder Perspectives and Implications

This assignment will replace the midterm examination. For this term paper, we will dive into arguably the hottest topic in collegiate sports: whether and how college athletic departments should pay student athletes. There are many different sides to this issue and there are also many different stakeholders involved. While you brainstorm and outline your ideas, keep the following in mind:
    What benefits are currently in place for student athletes;
What benefits come with a pay-for-play system?
Should only revenue sports be considered for pay?
How does a pay-for-play system affect existing amateur/professional eligibility rules?
Consider the perspective of the colleges and what benefits they already bestow upon their student athletes; and
    Consider the perspective of the student athletes and their needs;
Should we pay our college athletes? Which athletes? All athletes? Should this be voluntary? If not voluntary, what kind of mandate (NCAA/NAIA/JUCO) could be arranged to ensure fairness?
Remember there are no right or wrong answers but please know that a well-written paper will utilize the material presented in our textbook to help validate opinions and present research. Make sure to cite your sources where needed and always write in a professional, respectful manner. This assignment is worth 100 points, must be at least four (4) written pages in length, and is due by Sunday.

    Final Essay Instructions and Prompts.
    I.
    Instructions
    & Requirements
    ·      Choose from one of the three
essay prompts below and respond with an essay of 1250-1750
words. There should be a re-stating of the prompt, a thesis, key supporting points,
evidence from the texts we’ve used in class, a conclusion, and a works cited page.
    o
    You must reference at
least three sources from the course’s required reading for this assignment.
    §
Outside sources will not count toward the three-source requirement.
    o
    Late papers will be
penalized 10 points per 24 hours late.
§  Paper must be: 1) free of spelling
    and grammatical errors;
    2) 12-point font, double-spaced; 3) Be within the designated word count range.
Papers must include a works cited page
    and proper in-text citations. Failure
to follow these specifications will result in penalties.
    II.
    Prompts
    ·
    Religious Discourse and Social Change
o   Utilizing the categories of religious discourse and social change
supplied by Grelle, select and categorize three thinkers we visited in the
second half of class into either a reformative, revolutionary, or
transformative approach. Then, argue which thinker’s arguments are most
successful in sparking social change. Provide evidence to support your claim.
o   Your thesis should go like this: “While we analyzed many discursive and religious strategies for
creating social change this semester, I argue that the X approach taken by Y
    (theorist) is the most effective.”
§  From there, you will want to explain why you identified this thinker as
the most effective and offer two other thinkers who take different approaches
that you find less compelling. Provide evidence that supports your positions.
    ·      Religion, Race, Gender, &
    Sexuality.
o   In Audre Lorde’s “The Master’s Tools,” she writes that “without community, there is no
liberation, only the most vulnerable and temporary armistice between an
individual and her oppression. But community must not mean a shedding of our
differences, nor the pathetic pretense that these differences do not exist.”
Instead, if we want to create lasting, transformative change for a better
world, we must learn “how to take our differences and make them strengths, for
the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house. They may allow us
temporarily to beat him at his own game, but they will never enable us to bring
    about genuine change” (2).
§  Write an essay arguing that one of the
other religious approaches in this unit exudes what Lorde suggests above. After
providing an intro and thesis, a successful essay will (1) contextualize and
parse the meaning of Lorde’s statement quoted above and (2) identify another
author in the Race, Gender, and Sexuality unit that successfully implements or
embodies Lorde’s suggested approach. To draw attention more sharply to your
chosen author’s methodology, you will then (3) identify and compare their work
with another author who does not embody or oppose Lorde’s difference-centered
    approach to social change.[1]
    You should then
provide a conclusion summarizing your steps and argument.
    ·      Religion, Violence, and
    Non-Violence:
    o
    Using
texts from this section of our course, write an essay arguing whether certain
religious thinkers can work together to assess and determine if martial action is
just or unjust in a given situation.
    §
    After
stating your thesis, this essay should first (1) define just war theory and
give the reader a brief introduction to the concept; second (2) it should
    introduce the parties[2]
you have chosen to analyze and their positions regarding the just war debate (for
example, are you comparing Christian pacifists—like Yoder and Hauerwas—with
advocates of just war theory—like Kelsay—or are you comparing Kelsay & the
writers of the open Letter to ISIS?); then (3) you should bring these two
groups into conversation with one another and provide compelling evidence
through comparison that reinforces your thesis. You should then provide a
conclusion that summarizes your steps and argument.
    III.
    Grading Criteria
    ·
Do you follow directions? Does the essay respond to the prompt? Do
you write on what I am asking for? Are there in-text citations, and is there a work
    cited page?
    ·
Is the thesis clear? This is the most essential part of any essay.
Please, God almighty, don’t make me find your thesis. It should be
painfully obvious where and what it is.
    ·
Does your argument support your thesis? Is it logically consistent?
Each section of your essay should buttress the previous part and prime the
    reader for the next section.
    ·
Grammar and syntax. If I am the first person to read your essay
(other than yourself), you’re doing college wrong. Find a friend that you trust
to give your paper a once over. You’d be surprised by how much your peers can
    help you with this.
    ·
Does the essay display a mastery of the material you are writing on?
Does the essay feel clunky? Or does the writer feel completely comfortable with
    the ideas they are wielding?
    o
For each of these criteria/questions, choose the following answer
    §
    100% Yesà
    “A”
    §
Yes, with only a few exceptionsà “B.”
    §
For the most part, yesà “C”
    §
    Not really…à
    “D”
    §
    Nope. Not even closeà “F”
[1] (For example, you could argue that
Tonstad understands the importance of difference for the sake of change, which
is why in her Queer Theology, she argues queer theology must not merely
be about the inclusion of queer people into heteronormative spaces. Or you
could say that MLK Jr’s Letter rejects the master tools as the only
means for creating change in his critique of the white moderate pastors who
disagreed and denounced his acts of civil disobedience.)
[2] Since this is a comparative argument,
there must be at least two groups or thinkers you are working with. I suggest
you only do two groups due to the word limit.

  • “Transitioning to Scrum-Agile: Lessons Learned from the SNHU Travel Project” Title: Comparing Waterfall and Agile Approaches in Software Development

You work for ChadaTech, a company that specializes in custom software design and development for both domestic and international clients. For many years, the company has been developing its software using a waterfall development model. ChadaTech is considering transitioning all of its development teams to an Agile methodology using the Scrum framework. This move is expected to improve its products and build a more cohesive corporate culture. However, ChadaTech has decided to pilot this process with your team before the entire organization makes the shift.
Your team has been tasked to develop an application for SNHU Travel, a travel agency seeking to use innovative tools to expand its client base. Your team will adopt a Scrum-Agile approach to developing the application. ChadaTech has also asked you to lead a final Sprint Review and Retrospective of the development with your team. This will help your team think through the work that they completed and how the new Scrum-Agile approach has helped in the development process. Finally, you have been asked to present the lessons learned to the broader company to help them decide about shifting all development teams to a Scrum-Agile approach.
Important Note: You will not be working with an actual team for this project. Instead, during each week of the course, you will take on a different role on the team and produce artifacts related to those roles as you progress through the phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC). You will reflect on the work you did throughout the course during your Sprint Review and Retrospective.
    Directions
    Sprint Review and Retrospective
At the end of a sprint or incremental release, the Scrum Master arranges a Sprint Review and Retrospective. For this deliverable, you will take on the role of the Scrum Master and create a Sprint Review and Retrospective to summarize, analyze, and draw conclusions on the work you completed during the development. In your paper, address each of the following:
Applying Roles: Demonstrate how the various roles on your Scrum-Agile Team specifically contributed to the success of a project. Use specific examples from your experiences.
Completing User Stories: Describe how a Scrum-Agile approach to the software development life cycle (SDLC) helped user stories come to completion. Use specific examples from your experiences.
Handling Interruptions: Describe how a Scrum-Agile approach supported project completion when the project was interrupted and changed direction. Use specific examples from your experiences.
Communication: Demonstrate your ability to communicate effectively with your team by providing samples of your communication. Explain why your examples were effective in their context and how they encouraged collaboration among team members.
Organizational Tools: Evaluate the organizational tools and Scrum-Agile principles that helped your team be successful. Reference the Scrum events in relation to the effectiveness of the tools.
Evaluating Agile Process: Assess the effectiveness of the Scrum-Agile approach for a specific project. Address each of the following:
Describe the pros and cons that the Scrum-Agile approach presented during the SNHU Travel project.
Determine whether or not a Scrum-Agile approach was the best approach for the SNHU Travel development project.
    Agile Presentation
Finally, you have been asked to put together a PowerPoint presentation for the leadership at your company. You will start by explaining the key facets of the Scrum-Agile approach. You will also contrast the waterfall and Agile development approaches to help your leadership make an informed decision. You must use properly cited sources to support your points. In your presentation, Address each of the following points:
Explaining Agile Roles: Explain the various roles on a Scrum-Agile Team by identifying each role and describing its importance.
Explaining Agile Phases: Explain how the various phases of the SDLC work in an Agile approach. Identify each phase and describe its importance.
Describing Waterfall Model: Describe how the process would have been different in a waterfall development approach rather than the Agile approach you used. For instance, you might discuss how a particular problem in development would have proceeded differently.
Waterfall or Agile Approach: Explain the factors to consider when choosing a waterfall or Agile approach, using your course experience to back up your explanation.
    What to Submit
To complete this project, you must submit the following:
    Sprint Review and Retrospective
Your retrospective should be a 3- to 4-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and APA formatting. Address all prompts. You are not required to use sources for the retrospective; however, any sources that you do use must be cited according to APA style.
    Agile Presentation
Your Agile presentation should be a PowerPoint of at least 5 slides in length, including a references slide. Address all prompts. Support your work with a minimum of four academic or professional sources published within the last five years (peer-reviewed journals, books, technical reports, government publications, expert industry sites, and so on). All sources used should be cited according to APA style.
