How a ROUGH PLAN works
Once you’ve generated some ideas about your possible responses to Assignment #1 through brainstorming, focused freewriting, clustering, listing, or your preferred method of prewriting, try to impose some tentative order on your ideas. First, create a rough thesis by responding directly to the Assignment #1 prompt. You can use the language of the prompt if it helps you to more clearly express your response.
Next, think about the points you need to make in order to support your thesis. These points will become your topic sentences.
Choose concrete examples from “Hills Like White Elephants,” ONE other short story from the list, and ONE of the critical articles that support your thesis and help the reader to understand your thinking about the topic of subtlety and omission in the short story. Explain how the examples you’ve selected advance your thesis. The ROUGH PLAN worksheet asks you to fill in a “Purpose” for each paragraph. Another way to think about this purpose is to think about what the paragraph is “doing” to advance your thesis. Refer to the list below to help you think about what your paragraph is “doing” in the essay.
Use as many paragraph sections as you need; depending on your thesis, you may need fewer or more sections.
What is my Paragraph DOING?
Here are some suggestions for how to think about what your paragraph is “doing” (this list is not exhaustive):
Stating: Making an assertion.
Supporting: Providing evidence for an assertion.
Concurring: Agreeing with another author’s assertion.
Qualifying: Restricting the meaning of an assertion already made.
Negating: Offering reasoning or evidence to demonstrate the falsehood of an assertion.
Expanding: Stating more comprehensively an idea or assertion already expressed.
Analyzing: Breaking an assertion down into its constituent parts in order to clarify or evaluate it.
Describing: Naming one or more features of an object or concept, to help the reader imagine it
precisely or understand it fully.
Comparing and contrasting: Examining objects alongside each other for the purpose of clarifying their
features, evaluating them or noting differences and similarities.
Evaluating: Making a judgment about something discussed previously
Synthesizing: Combining elements of previous paragraphs into a coherent whole; often this includes
presenting a new perspective on the subject.
Summarizing: Restating the principal idea of an argument or point already introduced.
Transitioning: Moving from one aspect of the argument to another by connecting the points for the reader.

“Leadership Theories and Conflict Management in the Workplace: A Case Study Analysis” Title: The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health: A Review of Recent Literature and Personal Experience In recent years, social media has become an integral part of our daily lives. Video: What makes a great leader?
This discussion post has two parts.
Part 1 Leadership Theories
Today’s leader is better described as a coach or facilitator, responsible for eliminating barriers including the removal of structural impediments. These changes intrinsically require leaders to possess a different set of skills and knowledge than previously needed. Leaders must develop the competency to effectively understand others at work, to use such knowledge to influence others to act in ways that enhance one’s personal and/or organizational goals, and to inspire people to engage in contributing to the effectiveness of the organization. Review the case scenarios.

(Scenario 1)
Sophia started working for Prime Medical Center after completing her bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy. Sophia has a strong work ethic, is willing to walk the extra mile, and takes on difficult tasks. Sophia is also very easygoing and has excellent relationships with colleagues and patients. Colleagues and patients nominated her as the Ambassador of Prime Medical Center for a few years. Because of her exceptional performance, Sophia became a part of the executive team in her late 30s. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sophia stayed at work late and worked over the weekends alone to provide timely and accurate guidelines to employees. She felt that i is her responsibility during the crisis. She did not ask her subordinates to help since she knew they were overloaded and stressed. Her outstanding leadership and dedication to combating COVID-19 have won the highest recognition from Prime Medical Center’s board members and CEO. On the other hand, Sophia is exhausted.
In Part 1 of your initial post,
Appraise the issues presented in your assigned scenario.
Determine a suggested leadership theory to solve the issues.
Be sure to include the theorist and the major premise of your selected theory.
Defend your selected leadership theory as the best choice.
Part 2 Conflict Management
Conflict among health professionals is inevitable in contemporary health care delivery organizations due to a variety of factors, including employee diversity, status difference, heavy patient workloads, and the need to make difficult and timely decisions. Walston and Johnson (2022) categorized four types of work-related conflict: (1) task conflict, (2) process conflict, (3) relationship conflict, and (4) non-task organizational conflict. Conflict does not necessarily lead to ineffectiveness within groups or organizations. Positive conflict can act as a stimulus for change by encouraging debate, reducing collective group thinking, and stimulating critical thinking.
In Part 2 of your initial post,
Interpret your conflict management style based on the results from the Conflict Management Styles Assessment Download Conflict Management Styles Assessment.
Be sure to present your results from the highest score to the lowest score.
Describe a conflict that you currently experienced in the work environment.
Be sure to state the type of work-related conflict and your conflict style(s) to manage this identified conflict.
Analyze how you can anticipate and manage the identified conflict to reduce risks from occurring.
Your initial post of Part 1 and Part 2 should be a minimum of 500 words. Support your response with a minimum of two scholarly sources that were published in the last 5 years in addition to the course text. The Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources
table offers additional guidance on appropriate source types. Relevant professional experience may also be shared. -

SCENARIO:
John Turner, an 80-year-old Bigambul man, is brought to the emergency department (ED) by his concerned neighbour, Vandana, due to worsening symptoms of a chest infection. Mr Turner lives alone in Brisbane, and his primary caregiver is his adult niece, Emily. However, Vandana reports possible neglect and inadequate care, raising concerns about Mr Turner’s well-being. She said she recently contacted Emily when she found Mr Turner lying in his back garden after a fall. He appeared unhurt but Emily said she was too busy to take him to a doctor. On another occasion, Vandana found maggots in Mr Turner’s kitchen bin when she was cleaning up after she visited him for a cup of tea.
Upon arrival, Mr Turner appears lethargic and disoriented. He complains of persistent cough, difficulty breathing, and chest pain. His vital signs are as follows: blood pressure 140/90 mmHg, heart rate 110 bpm, respiratory rate 24/min, and oxygen saturation 89% on room air. Crackles are heard on auscultation of the lungs. You want to admit Mr Turner and start treating his infection but he appears to be confused. There is no advance health directive nor power of attorney.
Part 1 Question: Detail and apply the law in Queensland as to John’s capacity to consent to treatment. Your discussion should consider who can make a decision if John cannot.
FURTHER INFORMATION:
After admission, John’s condition continues to decline. He develops pneumonia and a serious infection that does not respond to treatment. Given his advanced age and prognosis, John is not going to survive his admission.
Part 2 Question: Referring to relevant healthcare policies, professional guidelines and scholarly literature, discuss (a) why it is important to consider Mr Turner’s identity as a Bigambul man as he nears the end of his life, and (b) what strategies might be employed in this case to provide him with culturally-safe care before and after his death. -
