  • Title: Using Data to Inform Next Steps for Instruction: A Case Study Analysis

For the assignment, candidates select a previously given assessment(s) and use the data from the assessment(s) to determine next steps for instruction for each student. The data may be summative; such as a comprehensive assessment, a state assessment, a lab report, or a project; or may be formative, such as an independent reading record, observations, or a short quiz given to inform instruction. As candidates analyze the data they should address questions such as:
Given this data point, which students “got it,” which students “kind of got it,” and which students “didn’t get it at all?”
Would all students falling into these categories benefit from the same intervention or do they have different needs/skill sets/gaps that would require different interventions?
What research-based instructional strategies, enrichments, or interventions would be best for each group or individual student?
Candidates will create and submit a multi-page pdf document (minimum 3 pages, excluding data tables and graphs) that includes the following, in this order:
    1. The targeted TEKS or Prekindergarten Guideline(s)
Note: If you teach in a Special Education Self-Contained classroom, you may use the targeted IEP goal(s) where appropriate.
    2. A descriiption (include the actual assessment if it will add clarification) of the assessment given
    3. The method used for collecting and scoring the data,
    4. A table, chart, or other graphic displaying the data
    5. A descriiptive analysis of the data for all students in the class, and,
    6. Next steps for instruction using research-based strategies that address the following
How will you use your knowledge of your students’ assets to inform your plans?
What instructional strategies, learning tasks, and/or assessments will you design to support student learning?
How is the teaching you propose supported by research and theory about how students learn?
    Further Requirements
Specific attention should be given to the needs of all students identified as Special Education, 504, Gifted and Talented, English learner, etc. Your class analysis MUST include masking procedures for each student. Use “Student A”, “Student B”, etc. Students who participate in the special education program should also be identified with their qualifying condition; for example, “Student C – LD”. **NOTE: LACK OF PRIVACY ENHANCEMENTS IS AN AUTOMATIC ZERO FOR THE PROJECT.**
Candidates should be specific and clear of the next steps addressing each student either individually or in small groups based on the data analysis. Finally, your paper must follow professional guidelines. This is scored on the rubric as well. Your paper should be written following these guidelines:
    One-inch margins
Space and a half or double space
Times New Roman 12 pt. font
No obvious spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors
At least 3 pages, excluding data tables and/or graphs

  • Title: The Impact of AI on Society: A Sociological Perspective

Term Paper (Core Curriculum & Learning Objectives Assessment)
Write a paper in which you conduct research on a recent (within the last two months) topic in the news.
    1) a summary of the topic; My topic is on AI. I would like to do it in an article from the New York Times. Ross Douthat’s article “Should We Fear the Woke A.I.?”
    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/24/opinion/google-gemini-artificial-intelligence.htmlLinks to an external site.
link should lead you to the article. Thank you
    2) the “sociology” of the topic, including
    a) using the sociological imagination, describe the reason(s) why this an issue for sociologists to consider,
    b) identify the scale(s) of the social world that are being/will be most impacted by the news and explain that impact,
    c) discuss how sociologists could generate additional research on this topic;
    and,
    4) a reference list of sources – in a professional citation style (e.g., ASA, APA, MLA). Note: All sources must be cited in the body of the paper as they are utilized, as well as in the reference list at the end.
The grade will be based upon the demonstration of relevant research, the level of analytical and critical thinking conveyed, and spelling/grammar/formatting. Reference related material from the course readings as you write your paper, and provide your own research on the issue from at least three legitimate academic and professional sources, in addition to any you reference from the course (e.g., books and journal articles). References must be cited within the text and a bibliography provided at the end of the paper. If you are not familiar with another professional citation style (e.g., MLA, Chicago), use the American Sociological Association (ASA) style guide, which is available at: http://www.calstatela.edu/library/guides/3asa.pdf. The papers must be submitted through Turnitin on Canvas no later than the beginning of class one week from the date of your presentation. The paper must be at least 1000 words. Failure to meet the minimum word count may result in a score of zero for the paper.
    Reference Assistance
You need to provide at least three (external to the course) reference sources, and you should provide as many sources as necessary to adequately address the issue that is typically missing quite a bit of information due to the length of the news article. Use your judgment, and just ask if you are uncertain. Some excellent academic journals that likely have research related to your topic are: American Sociological Review (ASR), Social Forces, or Sociological Perspectives (all are available through electronically through the library, search for them by entering the name of the journal in the “Find:” box at the Journals section of the library search engine on the main web page http://www.sjcny.edu/Library)

  • QQIM Submission: Missing – The Impact of Ageing on Global Development and Prosperity Title: “The Power of Perspective” Image: A photograph of a group of people standing on top of a mountain, looking out at a vast landscape below. This image is relevant to this week’s seminar on perspective and perception. In the photograph

    Instruction
This scrapbook is a compilation of your learnings over 7 weeks of readings and discussion on the
Global Challenge of Prosperity. Every week you will need to submit a Question Quotation an Image,
or something Missing related to the weekly topical areas the night before the seminar. This can be
anything you feel encapsulates your learning: something you are unsure about, an idea that came to
you, something that allows you to connect the readings with a real-life situation, concerns you have
about a viewpoint that is missing. You have the luxury of making that decision amongst the four
options. Each quote, quotation, image, or missing item should be accompanied by a 150–200-word
piece (NO +/-10% RULE) reflecting how your selection links to the core concepts for that week. The
final submission will have 7 entries compiled into a book.
The grading will be based on completeness of scrapbook and timeliness of weekly submissions:
− Did you make an effort to think reflectively each week about the readings and plenary
    sessions?
− Did you submit each week on time?
    − Are there seven entries?
− Did you attempt to try each of the options (so not just images each week, but attempt the range of options)?
− Did you write a maximum 200-word statement for each week?
This is meant to get you to reflect on one key takeaway from the readings. It is flexible and meant to
be a short reflective exercise. You can write up to 200 words and less than 100 words.
Here is an example of something acceptable:
    Assigned Readings:
-Achiume, Tendayi (2019) Migration As Decolonization. 71 Stanford Law Review
    -Nutmeg’s Curse (chapters 15-16)
QQIM submission: Missing- “What I find missing from Achiume’s article is what happens to
countries that were not colonized? Should they still have this relationship? Ghosh writes about
migration in a similar idea with circular migration. What would it take to get to a globally accepted
    practice of circular migration?”
This example is 47 words. And demonstrates that you have read both Ghosh and Achiume and
thought about how the authors have explained their ideas about migration.
    ——–
For this assignment, you are “ONLY” doing the week 5’s QQIM assignment.
The Core concept of the week is “GAME-CHANGERS IN THE PURSUIT OF PROSEPRITY I-Ageing and Prosperity”
The emergence and spread of the COVID-19 virus prove to be the ultimate ‘game changer’ globally,
as economies and borders closed and governments around the world scrambled to deal with the tri-
fold health, economic and social crises that accompanied its spread. Through the failure of public
health as a global public good, the virus poses a significant development challenge for all countries,
accentuating the case for a global, rather than international development paradigm (Oldekop et al. 2020).
Population ageing is an inevitable consequence of the declines in fertility and increases in longevity
that characterize the demographic transition and is usually associated with social and economic
development. This week we look at several dimensions of health as game changers in prosperity. We
examine the factors that contribute to these game changers and the (economic) rationale for
interventions based on market failures, with focus on public goods or large social externalities.
The core reading for this week is:
    – The Routledge Handbook of Global Development Chapter 40: Health, illness, and development
    – The Routledge Handbook of Global Development Chapter 48: Children, Youth and Development
And the readings for seminar are attached
    – Rutagumirwa, Sylivia Karen, and Ajay Bailey. “It’s all about being a woman”: Intersections of multiple (dis) advantages experienced by older women in Tanzania.” Journal of aging studies 61 (2022): 101021.
    – The Routledge Handbook of Global Development Chapter 49: Aging and Development
    Background videos
    – https://youtu.be/hJCr5WJapm8 cost of ageing
    – https://youtu.be/5vIrL7fiNgw Ageing campaign
Do the readings first, and then in 150-200 words,,
Come up with a Question, or Quotation, or an Image, or something Missing (choose only one!) related to the weekly topical areas the night before the seminar. This can be anything you feel encapsulates your learning: something you are unsure about, an idea that came to you, something that allows you to connect the readings with a real-life situation, concerns you have about a viewpoint that is missing. You have the luxury of making that decision amongst the four options. Each quote, quotation, image, or missing item should be accompanied by a 150–200-word piece (NO +/-10% RULE) reflecting how your selection links to the core concepts for that week.
For this week, please choose “IMAGE” for QQIM Scrapbook.
    – find a relevant image
    – explain why the image is relavant/connected to the reading for this week’s seminar/core topic

  • Title: “Creating a Community Gang Initiative: A Collaborative Approach to Addressing Gang Violence”

You will create this assignment following the Assignment Detail instructions below.
Review the tutorial How to Submit an Individual Project.
    Assignment Details
The gangs in your town have become increasingly more violent over time. There have been several serious incidents of violence and drive-by shootings, an increase in drug traffic, and attempts to recruit new gang members in the local middle and high schools. In the past, your local police department chose not to partner with the community and failed to see a lasting reduction in gang activity. You know that they have recently started a new community policing program in an effort to try and address this situation.
Your supervisor at the juvenile justice non-profit organization where you work has asked you to create a plan for a community gang initiative that works with the police efforts. You recognize that increasing police patrols and gang arrests in the area are only a short-term solution. You want to implement a program that will provide a long-term solution through community and police cooperation.
Write an action plan of at least 3-5 pages that addresses this problem in the community. Your action plan should include, but is not limited to, the following:
Several initiatives that will assist in rectifying the problems, including the following:
    Educational initiatives
    Local initiatives
How can the negative effects of violence on children be lessened?
Do you believe that there should be a limitation on the violent video games that children are permitted to play? Explain your position.
What type of assistance will you ask for from the community as a whole?
What role will the police department take?
How will you measure the effectiveness of your plan?
Use this tutorial to help you complete this assignment.

  • “Finding Forgiveness and Redemption in Catch the Moon”

Catch the Moon by Judith Ortiz Cofer is a story about a teenage boy named Luis who is dealing with the loss of his father. The story revolves around Luis’s decision to retrieve his father’s toolbox from a family whose car he vandalized in a fit of anger. Through interactions with Nora, the daughter of the family, Luis is able to come to terms with his grief and find a sense of closure.
The theme of the story is forgiveness and redemption. This is revealed through the interactions between Luis and Nora, as they both learn to forgive each other for past mistakes. One example of this is when Nora tells Luis that she understands his pain because her own father died when she was young. This moment of empathy allows Luis to open up and share his feelings, ultimately leading to a sense of understanding and healing for both characters.
Another example is when Luis returns to the family’s house to repair the damage he caused to their car. This act of atonement shows his desire for redemption and his willingness to make amends for his past actions. In the end, Luis catches the moon for Nora as a symbol of their newfound connection and the possibility of moving forward from their shared experiences.
Overall, Catch the Moon explores the power of forgiveness and how it can bring healing and closure in times of grief. Through the interactions between the characters, the theme of forgiveness is revealed as they learn to let go of anger and resentment, and instead, find understanding and compassion.

  • “Optimizing Dijkstra’s Algorithm for Efficient Map Routing”

(See the attached pdf for complete details)
    Map Routing:
Implement the classic Dijkstra’s shortest path algorithm and optimize it for maps. Such algorithms are widely used in geographic information systems (GIS) including MapQuest and GPS-based car navigation systems.
    Your goal:
Optimize Dijkstra’s algorithm so that it can process thousands of shortest path queries for a given map. Once you read in (and optionally preprocess) the map, your program should solve shortest path problems in sublinear time. One method would be to precompute the shortest path for all pairs of vertices; however you cannot afford the quadratic space required to store all of this information. Your goal is to reduce the amount of work involved per shortest path computation, without using excessive space. We suggest a number of potential ideas below which you may choose to implement. Or you can develop and implement your own ideas.
You need to implement 2 improvement ideas, in order to get full points on the coding part. If you come up with your own ideas, you will get extra credits. (up to 10 points)
Requirements: Based on the requirement of the question | Java

  • “Developing a Global Strategy for Nuclear Disarmament: A Plan for Promoting Peace and Security”

In at least 500 words, please write an essay to the President about
developing a global strategy for promoting nuclear disarmament with North Korea
and other nations. Your essay should specifically address the following
    questions:
    1) What is the stated goal of the U.S. Defense strategy? Is it to deter
nuclear build up among all nations, only allow the U.S. to possess nuclear
armaments, or specifically force North Korea to eliminate its weapons programs?
As Secretary of Defense you can shape U.S. policy on nuclear weapons in any way
you would like. But You must make your objective clear.
    2) Based on what you’ve learned about international relations, how would you
recommend organizing governments from other nations as well as other
international organizations (IGOs, NGOs, the UN, etc.) to help you achieve your
    primary objective?
    3) Specifically describe how you might use international political economy
to achieve your objective? For instance, what role could the IMF, World Bank,
or other global economic forces play within your strategy? Again, you can
provide any viewpoint you like but be as specific and detailed as you can be.
Remember: you are advising the President of the United States!

  • Title: “The Art of Disinformation: A Collage on Media Manipulation in Russia”

My final project is an art collage on the topic of disinformation. This collage will be printed out piece by piece and assembled manually. Along with my project, I need to provide a five-page essay that describes it and incorporates six sources in total. I will include three sources from my class materials, and the responsibility to find the three additional sources will be on the readers themselves.
Just a little bit about the collage:
Putin is depicted as the central figure controlling the media narrative, shaping both his portrayal and that of Russia. The journalist’s mouth is taped, symbolizing the lack of freedom of speech in Russia, where the term “war” is replaced by “special operation”. This I consider a form of disinformation to their own people. Despite common knowledge of the war, the use of “special operation” attempts to downplay the severity of the situation.
In the background, there’s a subtle image of an explosion, suggesting the reality of war.
Zelensky is also featured, adding another dimension to the narrative.
The hands in handcuffs represent the suppression of freedom and the harsh reality faced by those who oppose the official narrative.
The Russian newspaper slogans such as “правда – truth”, “за родину – for the motherland”, “русская воля – The Russian will”, “победа – victory”, and “русская жизнь – Russian life” reflect the propagandistic messages often used to mobilize national sentiment.
