  • “The Historical Accuracy and Inaccuracies of Dances with Wolves” “Dances with Wolves: A Historical Analysis of Native American Representation and Inaccuracies” “Exploring American History through Film” “Exploring American History Through Film: A Selection of War and Political Films from the 1960s to Present”

This extra credit assignment is to write an essay that is a historical evaluation of a feature film related to American History.
This should not simply be a summary of a movie or a critical review in which you discuss whether or not it is a good film. Your focus is to tell me specific ways in which this movie has historical value and specific ways in which it is probably inaccurate. To do this well, you should focus on the following questions: (Do NOT write answers to each of these questions in order. These questions are listed in order to clarify what you should be writing about.)
What does this movie teach you about the historical period?
How accurately does the movie portray the events/trends of the period?
What issues/events discussed in class are portrayed in this movie?
What was your opinion of the movie as a whole? (Did you learn very much?)
In addition to watching the movie and giving your individual impressions, some extra research will increase your chances of getting the maximum number of points. Here are a couple of ideas:
Do some careful reading on the period, both in your textbook and, if possible, on the internet. This will help you to evaluate the accuracy of the movie.
See if you can find movie reviews on the internet in order to determine what historians think of the film. If you read some reviews on-line, make sure that you list the references. (See plagiarism policy.) Do not use ChatGPT or any other AI software to help you write the essay.
    Plagiarism policy
A person is guilty of plagiarism if at any time he or she copies another writer’s words or uses his or her original idea without giving that person credit. Since there is an enormous amount of information on the internet, it is very tempting for students to simply copy things from a web site and assume that they will never get caught. Please do not attempt to do this. If you use another person’s words, put them in quotation marks and cite your source of information at the end of the paper. If anything that you write is influenced by research that you have done, also list those sources of information at the end of your paper. At many colleges plagiarism can lead to expulsion. In this class, it will result in a grade deduction. (Please keep in mind that your submitted assignment will go through a plagiarism checker before I read it.)

  • Title: Addressing Inconsistent Use of ISBAR Communication Tool in a Cardiac Rehabilitation Facility: A Nurse Leader’s Approach

Read the scenario below about a situation occurring in a cardiac rehabilitation facility. After reading the scenario, write a 500-750-word reflection paper responding to the questions that follow.
    Scenario:
You are the nurse leader in a cardiac rehabilitation facility. Your unit has several nurses who act as preceptors for nursing students from the local college. You notice that the student nurses seem to lack confidence in using the ISBAR communication tool for handoffs. One day, you overhear a student saying: “I hate doing handoffs; I’m afraid of making a mistake. The nurses all seem to use ISBAR differently.”
    Questions:
As the nurse leader, what steps would you take to investigate this issue further? Explain what specific information you would try to gather.
If your investigation revealed that team members are using the ISBAR tool inconsistently, describe at least two actions you would take as the nurse leader to address this.
Discuss whether or not it would be appropriate for you, as the nurse leader, to provide education on using the ISBAR tool to both the nursing students and your staff. Support your position.
    Submission Guidelines:
Length: Your paper must be a minimum of 500 words and should not exceed 750 words, not including the title and reference pages.
Title Page: Include a title page with the title of your paper, your name, the course name and number, your instructor’s name, and the date of submission.
Introduction: Begin your paper with an introduction that provides a brief overview of the scenario and outlines the main points that will be covered in your paper.
Body: The body of your paper should be divided into sections with headings that correspond to each of the questions provided. Each section should thoroughly answer the question, supported by evidence from your references and the scenario.
Conclusion: Conclude your paper with a summary of your findings, reiterating the importance of the issue addressed and suggesting possible future steps or implications.
References: Include a reference page at the end of your document. At least two references in APA format are required. You may use your textbook as one of the references. Ensure all citations within the text and on the reference page adhere to APA guidelines.

    Overall Feedback
    Jazmine,
This is a really interesting topic to explore, but it didn’t appear that you did that within the context of social psychology as much you did that within the context of cultural psychology. As I noted in a comment in your paper, those two fields are certainly related, but I definitely needed to see more social psychological concepts.
Your writing is quite clear and straightforward so that was helpful, but you repeated the same content in various sections of your paper. I’m not sure why.
You also had some great peer-reviewed sources, but you had some in-text citations missing. Sometimes, I simply wasn’t sure what source you were referring to, so that’s an error to correct for the future as well.
