Please read the article in Forbes “Research Sheds New Light On How Corporate Fraud Is Perpetuated”, (February 28,2020)
The article discusses “managers attempting fraud strategically choose to omit expenses because they believe this type of manipulation will be easier to explain away as a simple mistake if detected”. This strategy appears to work as the article goes on to state “the auditors were more likely to classify omitted expenses as unintentional errors and active manipulations of revenue as fraud attempts”.
Corporate fraud has been responsible for the loss of a company’s reputation, employees losing their jobs, investor losses and companies going out of business. When a company’s earnings are likely to fall short of analyst expectations executives may risk engaging in fraudulent activities, such as omitting expenses.
Why do you think executives are willing to engage in fraud rather than admitting the company is not performing up to expectations with the potential risks involved if their fraud is discovered?

“Monsters and Madness: A Mashup of Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”
Whether it is Frankenstein’s creature, Kurtz, Dr. Jekyll, or Mr. Scrooge, many of the characters,
settings, symbols, and even lines (Kurtz’ “The horror, the horror!”) have become parts of our
cultural consciousness, literally our cultural story. These elements from the texts we are
studying in this course are constantly blended into contemporary texts and conversations.
Making a “Frankenstein” has come to mean creating an out of control problem with unintended
consequences, for example.
For Paper/Project # 2, I’d like you to do some blending, or “mashing up” of your own. For this
project, create a text (poem, song, painting, mixed-media work, short story, one-act play, video,
etc.) mashing up the essence of one of the texts we are studying this semester (any text on our
course syllabus) with another text (poem, song, painting, drawing, short story, play, etc.) or an
original text of your own design. Your mash up should make thematic sense. For example,
mashing up Frankenstein with Mary Poppins would result in a rather confusing mash up.
As with Paper/Project # 1, none of this should come from research. I’m looking for you to
engage with the text at this very focused level and your brain.
You then need to write a 4-5-page essay that explains your new text. In general terms, essays
must be focused on a central idea, this focus must be clearly stated in a thesis statement, and
the thesis must be supported with both the student’s analysis of the chosen text and
quotations from the primary text. Please avoid lengthy plot summaries. Please also follow MLA
documentation guidelines.
Having said all this, the very best (most engaging, rich, and enjoyable) essays/projects result
when you choose to write about something that truly catches your attention and interests you.
In other words, start with an idea (a word) that engages you and go from there.
**For this paper/project I would like you to mash up the stories “Frankenstein” and “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”. Please make it a new short story. Then, as stated above, there should be a 4-5 page essay explaining this new short story.**
**Please use textual evidence from both texts to support this paper/project! Use MLA citations as well.**
Thanks! -
Title: The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health: Exploring the Relationship and Potential Solutions
Does your paper have an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion? The biggest thing I’m looking for here is a good thesis statement and focus. A good thesis is your paper summed up into one sentence. If you can’t figure this out, try explaining what you are writing about to a friend. A short description should be easy to find. Then, include your supporting arguments in a few paragraphs, and restate the purpose of your paper in the conclusion. Each section of your paper must contain citations that reference material from the reading or outside sources. Footnotes for citations are required rather than endnotes (use Chicago-Style).

SOAP Note (Progress Note)
This assignment will demonstrate your ability to provide age-appropriate anticipatory guidance while recognizing the need to refer patients that are outside of the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner. This will be demonstrated by completing a SOAP note based on the patient seen in Unit 2 in the VR platform.
Write-ups
A progress note in SOAP format serves several purposes:
It is an important reference document that provides concise information about a patient’s history and exam findings at the time of patient visit.
It outlines a plan for addressing the issues which prompted the office visit. This information should be presented in a logical fashion that prominently features all of the data that’s immediately relevant to the patient’s condition.
It is a means of communicating information to all providers who are involved in the care of a particular patient.
It allows the NP student an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to accumulate historical and examination-based information, make use of their medical knowledge, and derive a logical plan of care.
Knowing what to include and what to leave out will be largely dependent on experience and your understanding of illness and pathophysiology. If, for example, you were unaware that chest pain is commonly associated with coronary artery disease, you would be unlikely to mention other coronary risk-factors when writing the history. As you gain experience, your write-ups will become increasingly focused. You can accelerate the process by actively seeking feedback about all the SOAP notes that you create, as well as by reading those written by more experienced practitioners.
The core aspects of the SOAP note are described in detail below.
For ease of learning, a SOAP Note Template has been provided. For this assignment, proper citation and referencing is required because this is an academic paper.
S: Subjective information. Everything the patient tells you. This includes several areas including the chief complaint (CC), the history of present illness (HPI), medical history, surgical history, family history, social history, medications, allergies, and other information gathered from the patient. You are the lead investigator in a double homicide case. You develop a suspect, and during your interrogation, you have the opportunity to lie to the suspect concerning the evidence you have against him in this case. The Virginia Court of Appeals upheld lying to a suspect as an ethical practice in Arthur v. Commonwealth 1997. As a Christian, you know it is a sin to lie. Will you lie to the suspect concerning the evidence you have against him in this case in an attempt to illicit a voluntary confession? This interrogation technique is legally accepted; however, is it moral and ethical?
