  • Title: The Unreliability of Eyewitness Testimony: Psychological Factors, Observation Skills, and Legal Safeguards

This is a forensic science research paper researching the reliability of eyewitness testimony. Guiding questions include: What psychological factors influence eyewitness testimony? What makes eyewitness testimony unreliable? What do good observation skills consist of? Have courts taken measures against unreliable eyewitness testimony?

  • Title: Exploring Best Practices for a Current Health Care Problem: An Annotated Bibliography

The requirements outlined below correspond to the grading criteria in the scoring guide. At a minimum, be sure to address each point. In addition, you are encouraged to review the performance-level descriptions for each criterion to see how your work will be assessed.
For this assessment, research best practices related to a current health care problem. Your selected problem or issue will be utilized again in Assessment 4. To explore your chosen topic, you should use the first two steps of the Socratic Problem-Solving Approach to aid your critical thinking.
Select one of the health care problems or issues presented in the Assessment 02 Supplement: Applying Research Skills [PDF] Download Assessment 02 Supplement: Applying Research Skills [PDF]resource. Write a brief overview of the selected health care problem or issue. In your overview:
Summarize the health care problem or issue.
Describe the professional relevance of this topic.
Describe any professional experience you have with this topic.
Identify peer-reviewed articles relevant to this health care issue or problem.
Conduct a search for scholarly or academic peer-reviewed literature related to the topic and describe the criteria you used to search for articles, including the names of the databases you used. You will select four current scholarly or academic peer-reviewed journal articles published during the past 3–5 years that relate to your topic.
Refer to the NHS-FPX4000: Developing a Health Care Perspective Library Guide to help you locate appropriate references.
Use keywords related to the health care problem or issue you are researching to select relevant articles.
Assess the credibility and explain relevance of the information sources you find.
Determine if the source is from an academic peer-reviewed journal.
Determine if the publication is current.
Determine if information in the academic peer-reviewed journal article is still relevant.
Analyze academic peer-reviewed journal articles using the annotated bibliography organizational format. Provide a rationale for inclusion of each selected article. The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to document a list of references along with key information about each one. The detail about the reference is the annotation. Developing this annotated bibliography will create a foundation of knowledge about the selected topic. In your annotated bibliography:
Identify the purpose of the article.
    Summarize the information.
Provide rationale for inclusion of each article.
Include the conclusions and findings of the article.
Write your annotated bibliography in a paragraph form. The annotated bibliography should be approximately 150 words (1–3 paragraphs) in length.
List the full reference for the source in APA format (author, date, title, publisher, et cetera) and use APA format for the annotated bibliography.
Make sure the references are listed in alphabetical order, are double-spaced, and use hanging indents.
Summarize what you have learned while developing an annotated bibliography.
Summarize what you learned from your research in a separate paragraph or two at the end of the paper.
List the main points you learned from your research.
Summarize the main contributions of the sources you chose and how they enhanced your knowledge about the topic.

What is the difference between a bench trial and a jury trial. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each.
    Part II
Based on the facts provided to you in Week 1 discussion, the investigation report, the confession by Mayo and the witness statements made by Dietz and Joe answer the following:
    1) If you were the defense attorney representing Mayo would you try to negotiate a plea agreement on his behalf or go to trial? Why?
    2) The prosecutor is given a lot of discretion in the criminal court process.  If you were the prosecutor would you try to negotiate a plea agreement or go to trial? Discuss why and make sure to support your position.

  • Title: Investigating the Impact of Inclusive Education on Students with Disabilities: A Mixed Methods Approach

    A.  Identify an education-related research topic (i.e., the broad subject matter area to be investigated) of interest to you that may be used to develop a related problem statement.
    1.  Develop a problem statement that addresses the research topic.

Note: You will need to review professional sources related to your research topic and research problem in order to complete parts B–F.

    B.  Develop a narrative literature review that logically flows from the broadly defined topic, identified in part A, to the specific research problem developed in part A1. The narrative literature review should synthesize fifteen sources that meet each of the following guidelines:
    •  contains relevant academic or professional literature related to the research topic
    •  is published by a scholarly source
    •  can be retrieved online

    C.  Develop an overall purpose statement for your research, based on the research problem statement that was developed in part A1. The purpose statement must:
    •  communicate the intent or objectives of your research project
    •  align with the two research questions, that you will develop in part D
    •  Not be biased toward a specific position or anticipate specific results

    D.  Develop 1 − 2 open-ended research questions that adhere to the following guidelines:
    •  appropriate for one of the major research approaches (i.e., quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, or action)
    •  researchable (i.e., you can collect and analyze data to answer it)
    •  directly addresses the research problem statement, that you developed in part A1
    •  cannot be answered with simply a “yes” or “no” response
    •  is not biased toward a specific position and does not anticipate specific results
    1.  Justify which major research approach (i.e., quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, or action) you would recommend using to answer each research question.

    E.  Acknowledge sources, using APA-formatted in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.

    F.  Demonstrate professional communication in the content and presentation of your submission.

  • Impressions of the Oral Argument in Fisher v University of Texas (2016)

Now it is your turn to critique an oral argument. Perhaps you remember having seen the headline Fisher v University of Texas (2016) ruling (or at least the concept of affirmative action as it relates to university acceptance). Your assignment is to listen to the oral argument of the attorneys before the court, then write a one page double-spaced opinion paper on your impression. Did the attorneys argue their point well? Did one do better than the other? Were they able to get their statement out without being interrupted? Which Justice was dominant? Was it clear from what direction they were asking – conservative? liberal? Did they seem to take sides? Next you are to read the short brief on the Oyez site to see exactly what the holding was for the case and which Justices were in the majority or dissent. Was this how you thought they would rule? Finally, look at the background to see what implications this case might have once you have finished writing your paper.
The oral argument and brief for Fisher v University of Texas, 579 US ____ (2016) can be found at https://www.oyez.org/cases/2015/14-981 The background and details can be found at https://www.scotusblog.com/case-files/cases/fisher-v-university-of-texas-at-austin-2/
Remember, I am looking for your impressions of the workings of the Court, not your opinion on the holding. You should only use the sources given for this assignment. The only source on the submission should be the oral argument for the case itself.
