Prior to beginning work on this assignment, review Chapter 5 of the text and the article Don’t Neglect This One Crucial Step of Leading Through Constant ChangeLinks to an external site..
Change does not always have to be big, extravagant, or newsworthy. Change is more often small, local, and vital to the sustainability of the business. The entire world experienced unbelievable change starting in 2020. From big to small, organizations were challenged with being agile and adaptable. Consider for a moment the number of distilleries that transformed their product from alcohol to hand cleaner. Those that did something, likely sustained and were able to transition back after the crisis. Having a plan and a process are the key elements of successful change.
For this final assignment, think small and think local. Be creative and think outside of the box. For example: what if you were in the business of making shoelaces for men’s dress shoes and your environmental scan shows that dress shoes are no longer a hot commodity. How do you transition to something sustainable?
Critical thinking is a key component of a change agent. The change problem can be real, or it can be created. It must be believable, and it must be thoroughly explained. You will diagnose the reason for change and present a plan to transform the organization, utilizing Kotter’s 8-Step Approach.

“Funding Sidewalks in Taggart County: A Priority and Plan for Advocacy and Funding” “Building a Grassroots Network for Sidewalk Funding: A Comprehensive Plan”
Module 7 Project Three Guidelines and Rubric
Overview
In this competency project, you will
analyze the provided hypothetical case study of Taggart County You will take the position of a local official, such
as a budget analyst or city manager. As this local official, you will
communicate the priority of replacing the sidewalks in the community and
develop an outline of potential funding sources (i.e., city, state, federal,
and private funding sources). You will present your project in the form of a
PowerPoint presentation to the county commission. This exercise will give you
an opportunity to see how the federal system operates with regard to funding a
local-government agenda item. This is the third of three competency projects in
this course; it is due in Module Eight.
In this assignment, you will
demonstrate your mastery of the following course competency:
· Explain the impact of a federal system of government on the
administration of public functions
Prompt
Create a PowerPoint presentation that
answers the following questions: Why is funding the sidewalk a priority in this
community? How might you utilize advocacy strategies to fund the sidewalk? What
are both public resources and creative/nontraditional approaches to fund the
sidewalk?
Be sure your presentation adheres to
the principles of planning an effective presentation discussed in Module Six.
Your final presentation should include speaker notes and an audio recording of
your narration. For more information about how to record yourself in
PowerPoint, review Record a Slide Show With Narration and
Slide Timings.
Specifically, you must address
the critical elements listed below.
I.
Project
Priority: In this section, briefly outline the need and priority for
this project. In your response, consider the ethical implications of the
project and any relevant issues of social equity. For example, why has this
project not been funded in the past? Why is there a need now? Why should this
project be funded before other projects?
II.
Advocacy: In this section,
recommend a plan for organizing, advocating, and building a grassroots network
to fund this project. How might you involve citizens in the community? Remember
to include how you would use the county’s professional lobbying team to assist
in advocating for funding for this project.
III.
Funding
Sources: In this section, identify funding sources. Remember that
the cost of the sidewalk repairs will be roughly $3,000,000. Determine public
(i.e., federal and state) and private sources of funding.
Note: The total does not have to add up to $3,000,000; however, you
should consider larger funding sources that could support this budgeted amount.
A. Outline two federal funding
sources, and their major requirements, that could be utilized to fund the
sidewalk. In your response, consider grants in aid and Community Development
Block Grants.
B. Outline one state funding
source, and its major requirements, that could be utilized to fund the
sidewalk.
C. Describe one creative or
nontraditional way you could envision funding this project. In your
response, consider public-private partnerships, corporate tax credits, direct
legislative funding requests, or the creation of a special or independent
taxing district.
IV.
Communication: Presentation and
speaker notes are geared to the audience of the county commission. Slides are
streamlined with the most essential information, while the speaker notes add
context and detail.
What to Submit
Your sidewalk-funding project must be
5–8 slides with accompanying speaker notes and audio recording. Include at
least three references cited in APA format.

“Reflecting on the PSELs through The Principal 50: A Dialogue with Aspiring School Leaders” Reflection and Dialogue with The Principal 50: Examining the PSELs As an aspiring school leader, I have been reading and reflecting
#4: The Principal 50 Reflection and Dialogue
· Step #1: Read and think about the content of the text The Principal 50 by Baruti K. Kafele (2015) and consider the ways in which the sections and questions relate to the PSELs. Annotate the text and come prepared to write/reflect in class.
· Step #2: Select and write a reflective response to one question from five different chapters (5 questions total). All of the questions in the book begin with “Do I…?” For the purposes of this reflection, change the beginning of each question that you answer to “How will I…?” or “What would I need to do so that…” or “Why is it important that I…?” This modification will provide an opportunity to respond to the questions as an aspiring school leader. For each question, write a brief paragraph that is reflective, demonstrates your thoughts and beliefs, and makes connections to the PSELs.
