You will choose a change project you would like to develop and plan for in your personal or professional life. Since the course is short-term, the change project is one that you might not be able to complete within that time. Your plan can be one that you will develop in the future. The change must be one you are in control of implementing.
Your Assignment should include:
Overview: Provide a one-paragraph summary of your proposed change project. What are you proposing and why?
Needs Statement: Provide a general description of the project and determine what is driving this need for change. How will this change add value to those involved?
Stakeholders: List all the people who were involved in the change and how you engaged each one. How did you manage resistance?
Resources required: List all the human, material, and financial resources you used to complete the change process.
How did you use your Strengths as outlined in the Strengths Finder while implementing this change?
Change model: Which change model(s) did you follow? Please illustrate each of the steps within this model and details regarding the results.
Success factors: How did you measure success?
Sustaining the change: How will you build support systems to sustain this change?
Conclusion: Summarize and synthesize your change project findings & results.
Your well-crafted Signature Assignment should be 7-9 pages double-spaced (not including cover page or references). Include at least five credible sources to support your paper. You may use any resource included in the course content. The CSU Global Library is also a good place to find references (available in the left-hand navigation panel).
Review the grading rubric for this assignment to understand exactly how you will be graded. Contact your instructor if you have questions.

“Exploring Education as a Key Institution: Paradigms, Issues, and Pathways to Improvement”
We will look at Education as a key institution in society (formal, informal education/Universal access)
We will explore, as usual, our paradigms and how they view Education (manifest, latent functions from chapter 1 is back).
Finally, we will look at Issues in Education
I would like you to watch this short video, and comment on it. I am sure you will agree with a lot that’s being said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okpg-lVWLbE&ab_channel=NextSchool
I would also like you all to use the knowledge you’ve been gaining in this class, and actually lead the discussions for this chapter. What are the important points to take from it? (such as manifest and latent functions, also mentioned in chapter 1).
(the last section dealing with education programs, etc. is not extremely necessary to remember. One read of it is enough. I will not ask you about it in the Final).
How can we make education better? That’s something I always ask my students. -

“The Future of the Internet: Predictions for Society, Interactions, and Mass Communication”
In the video A Magna Carta for the Web, Berners-Lee lays out some ideas about how the Internet of the future should operate. He states, “I want one which is not fragmented into lots of pieces. I want a web which has got, a really good basis for democracy, and where I can use health care with privacy for where there is a lot of health data for scientists to do research, and where the other 60% get on board as fast as possible, I want a web that is such a powerful basis for innovation that when something nasty happens, a disaster happens, that we can build stuff to respond to it very quickly.”
Jaron Lanier suggests, in the video How We need to Remake the Internet, a model of internet access that looks like Netflix or Hulu and observes “We can imagine a hypothetical world of peak social media. What would that be like? It would mean when you get on, you would get really useful authoritative medical advice instead of cranks. It could mean when you want to get factual information not a bunch of weird paranoid conspiracy theories”
Journal 8 Assignment: This journal will be written using paragraphs and be 2 or more pages, double spaced in 12pt font.

Predict one specific way our interactions (social, economic, or professional) via the internet will be different in the future? Do not just describe the present, and make a prediction about the future in contrast to the present.

“Protest Signs and Visual Art: Amplifying Social Justice Issues” “Expressing Faith through Art: A Visual Representation of Religious Beliefs in the Midst of Social Protest”
Objective:
The objective is for students to design and construct a lightweight double-sided protest sign; front & back, with a handle that can be carried at a march, demonstration, non-violent protest, sit-in, walkout, boycott, or all of the above, but that describes, identifies, explains an idea or concept, or justifies your stand or decision on a social justice issue/s relevant to the course or its subject matter. If it is against your religion to protest or create a protest sign follow the direction below under Against My Religion.
OPTION 1
You will need to design and create a lightweight double-sided protest sign. Your protest sign will have to be both front & back, it must have a handle that can be carried at a march, demonstration, non-violent protest, sit-in, walkout, boycott, or all of the above, but that describes, identifies, explains an idea or concept, or justifies your stand or decision on a social justice issue/s relevant to the course or its subject matter.
OPTION 2
Create a visual art project or collage (not a visual or info display board), which artistically demonstrates your knowledge on the subject. It must includes various types of images: historical, cultural, and political photos or art that symbolically or metaphorically represent your research topic. An art project or collage is ideal, if it is against your religion to protest.
Midterm Part 2: Protest Sign / Visual Art Project
Students will upload a images of both sides of his/her protest sign or visual art project within the Discussion page
You will upload images of your protest sign or art project along with a description of your research topic. Students may include either summary or reflection analysis so that your classmates’ can read.
Students will create either a double sided protest sign or visual art project related to the minority group you researched in Part 1 of your Midterm.
Make sure to include either the summary and reflection, so that your can learn from your researched topic.
Identify and describe the historical, cultural, and political images, graphics, and/or symbolic referenced within your Visual Art Protject.
Describe how this assignment was relevant to the course?
OPTION 1
How to Make Protest SignsLinks to an external site.
Directions and Guidelines:
Students will create a Two Protest signs: Front & Back or Visual Art Poster: Front & Back on a topic or theme relevant to your Research Paper Minority Group
The Protest sign must be at least 16” x 20” (anything smaller will be marked down or considered incomplete)
Recycle, Reduce, Repurpose, & Reuse: try to use supplies/materials found around the house before purchasing new items. Recycled cardboard boxes, foam board, or presentation boards.
If you wish to paint or design an art piece on art canvas, you may do so as well. I will provide samples of students past projects below.
All signs must have 3 to 5 colors, which include the background, font, font outline, or images.
Consider using markers, highlighters, crayons, color pencils, old make-up and face paint, even leftover house paint, spray paint, acrylic, tempera or watercolor paint (avoid things that smear).
Font should be large and bold to see from a distance therefore all font should be outlined with a dark marker or paint that will contrast the background.
All words should properly fit within each sign, so measure and lightly sketch out your message or drawing first.
Violent messages, vulgar language and profanity are not allowed or recommend, as it scares away the media and it prevents your sign from making the news/paper.
All words have to be spell-checked and all data should be fact checked.
All signs must be designed with a handle that can be lifted 3’ (feet) above your head.
Handles can be made from various things found around the house that are sturdy such as a yardstick, detachable broom or mop stick, PVC pipe or from an adjustable metal cane or walking/hiking stick.
Signs or hand painted banners on canvas that are 36” (inches) wide or larger do not need to be double-sided, but if they do require an additional person/s to carry it keep in mind how your team will carry or lift it off the ground for long periods of time without it dragging on the floor or turning into a sail that will thus making it difficult to walk against the wind. Students also need to keep in mind how their protest sign will be assembled and dissembled before and after the protest and how it will be transported (bus, metro, car, bike, foot, etc.) to and from the event.
Students can also paint or paste an image/s related to your research project to their sign.
Students can also design a collage throughout their sign and paste enlarged font or words
Signs can also include 3D objects or have elements that pop out of the protest sign
Consider applying key terms and definitions throughout your poster to educate the public.
Include illustrations: images, comics, etc. related to your research topic or minority group; print them large enough for people to see from afar.
Avoid leaving blank or empty spaces
Against My Religion
Some religions disapprove and do not permit people from participating in protests and from making a protest signs.
If it is against your religion to protest or create a protest sign, you must notify me directly and/or mention it within your assignment’s submission.
However, you are still not exempt from completing the Midterm Research Paper nor completing the Visual Art Project.
Rather than creating a Double sided Protest Sign you will complete Option 2; create a Visual Art Poster
You may also use religious or spiritual quotes or proverbs from your scripture or Bible as the context within your Visual Art Project
Avoid using religious symbols or iconography if it is against your religion.
OPTION 2 -
Title: A Comparison of Two Career Development Theories: Krumboltz Learning Theory and Happenstance Theory
Theories and models both describe a view of a concept such as career development. However, models tend to be more general and theories refer to a specific approach. For example, cognitive therapy is a model of psychotherapy, and Beck’s approach is a specific theory within the cognitive model. Vocational theory also has general models as well as specific theories within each of the models.
For this assignment, write a brief paper that describes and compares two career development theories and identifies where they fit into the evolution of the career counseling field. Choose two of the following career development theories:
Krumboltz learning theory.
Happenstance theory.
Anne Roe’s relational theory.
Cognitive information processing theory.
Career construction/contextual theory.
Use your own research and any applicable course readings to write an analysis of your two chosen theories. Address the following elements in your paper:
Identify and describe the two models.
Compare the principles of the models.
Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each model.
Provide a brief historical timeline summary of the development of the career counseling field, including historical trends, as well as where the two models fit in.
Analyze the relevance of the models to the present day career counseling environment.
Include a proper introduction and conclusion, cover page, and references.
Assignment Requirements
Number of pages: Your paper should be 2–3 double-spaced pages, not including your cover page and references.
Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12 point.
Formatting: Be sure to use proper APA style when citing and referencing your sources.
Written communication: Written communication must reflect graduate-level writing skills and successfully convey the message. -

Discuss three points or ideas the Functionalists use to explain why there is economic inequality in society. Another way to think about this is – Discuss three reasons the Functionalists offer to explain why there is economic inequality in society.
2. Functionalists’ ideas about the functions of education focus on the ways in which schools help maintain society over time (across many generations), specifically societies that have a formal class structure. Discuss three points or ideas the Functionalists use to explain the purposes of education in society. Another way to think about this is – Discuss three reasons the Functionalists offer to explain how schools help sustain societies over time.
3. Conflict Theorists also take an economic approach to explaining inequality in society, but in ways very different than Functionalists. Discuss four points or ideas the Conflict Theorists use to explain why there is economic inequality in society. If it’s useful, you can discuss these four points or ideas as critiques of Functionalists’ ideas.
4. Conflict Theorists also claim that schools function to help maintain society over time. Discuss four points or ideas the Conflict Theorists use to explain the purposes of education in society. Another way to think about this is – Discuss four reasons the Conflict Theorists offer to explain how schools sustain societies over time. If it’s useful, you can discuss these four points as critiques of Functionalists’ ideas.
Wilcox article – In 3-4 paragraphs, answer the following about Wilcox’s research.
