Title: “Analyzing Decision Making in the Public Sector: A Case Study of [chosen example]”
Decision making can be one of the most complex and overtly political activities of an organization, whether that organization is private sector or public sector. When dealing with public organizations, even decisions that seem mundane, day-to-day decisions can have long reaching impacts (good or bad). Public administrators, non-profit managers, and governmental bodies have to use decision making frameworks (decision making models) due to how their decisions can affect the public in such drastic ways.
For this essay, I want you to pick a case study (i.e., example) from the public sector and use what you learned about decision making in Chapter 10 (and the other chapters of this textbook such as leadership, etc) to analyze that decision. For example, you could consider the water crisis in Flint, Michigan and how the poor decisions of public sector administrators led to disastrous results for that community or Hurricane Katrina disater response. Your case study could be something in the news recently, something you have experienced first hand in your job, or something historic. The example you use does not necessarily have to have a bad outcome – the public sector makes great decisions every day that have outstanding results for the public.
The essay should be more than just a factual summary of the event. I am looking for you to take your example and analyze, evaluate, and consider the decision making models in relation to what occurred in your example. Essays should be double-spaced, 1″ margins, 12 point Times New Roman font and a minimum of 1,500 words. The paper does not need to have a cover page but you should include a works cited page.
I would like for you to use a minimum of 2 other sources such as scholarly journals, news articles (this will be helpful to gain information on your example you choose), etc. If you use AI writing sources such as ChatGPT, the plagiarism detector will pick it up and flag it. Given the nature of this paper, please do not use AI writing websties for this paper.
Essays should be double spaced with 1″ margins in Times New Roman 12 point font. They should be a minimum of 1,500 words and must include a sources cited page. -

Calculate the present value of the payments you will receive. Show your calculations using formulas in your paper or in an attached spreadsheet file.
Explain why there is a difference between the present value of the Strayer lottery jackpot and the future value of the twenty-six annual payments based on your calculations and the information provided.
Discuss the risk and return indicated by different bond ratings. Support your answer with references to your research.
Use various bond websites to locate one of each of the following bond ratings: AAA, BBB, CCC, and D. Research the differences between the bond ratings, the required interest rates, and the risk. List the websites used as sources for this research.
