  • Title: “Evaluating Suppliers: Challenges and Priorities for Organizations”

Do organizations know how to evaluate their suppliers? Do they use the right data? Is there a consistent approach by different departments within an organization? The case study on pp. 248-249 shows that evaluating suppliers is itself a risk. Table 13.1 shows characteristics of an effective supply measurement system. Choose up to three of these characteristics that you would prioritize as the most important and provide reasons why. Use of real life examples is helpful, if you can obtain them.
The total cost of a project may not always be simple to measure or evaluate as we have direct and indirect costs, as well as hidden costs and opportunity costs. Please explain the value of the total landed cost model, including your comments on Figure 13.1 on p. 256

  • “Addressing Healthcare Inequalities in Audiology: The Role of Evidence-Based Practice and Healthcare Structures & Systems”

Provide a researched interpretation and describe the relationship between (1) Evidence-Based-Practice–EBP (as discussed in Chapter 1 of your textbook), (2) Healthcare Structures & Systems, and (3) Access to Health care & Barriers (within Audiology/Rehab services, etc.).  detailing the complex and entrenched social, racial, economic, and political problems that have persistently produced this country’s exorbitant, broken, and inequitable healthcare system.   Thus, ultimately providing an answer to this question:
How effectively can EBP  potentiallyreduce healthcare inequalities/healthcare disparities in the Audiology clinic?
Research papers should be at least 8-12 pages typed and double-spaced.  The paper must include a title page and a reference list.  The reference list/title page should not be counted towards the 8-12 pages required.  The paper must include a minimum of 5 references, from professional journals and books.  At least 2 of these references must be from professional peer-reviewed journals.  You can use your textbook if you wish as a reference, but you don’t have to.  DO NOT use Internet abstract-only references.  Internet references are ok to use if it is a journal article that is available online as full-text , or considered as a complete document available online.  You can also use HIH position statements, or other government documents.  References for the information you present must be clearly cited throughout your text, and must be included in the reference list at the end of the paper.  Use the American Psychological Association (APA) style when citing references.  Do not use larger than one-inch margins and size 12 font.  Late papers will be a whole grade reduction.  Please ask for permission for longer typed papers.
    Providing context for your paper:
We have discussed in class the effects of higher-costs in healthcare and its impact, and the counteracting efforts with the recent attempts to obtain greater access to health care in Audiology & Aural Rehab, by the use ofFDA-approved hearing aids vs. over-the-counter (OTC) devices/ personal-sound-amplification-products (PSAPS), etc.
Healthcare inequalities can co-occur across multiple dimensions including socioeconomic, political, education, social/cultural, spatial, familial, poor access to transportation, income inequality, housing, living & working conditions, poverty, immigration policy & deportation, discrimination, racism, heavy-handed enforcement tactics, labor protections, ethnic hierarchies, gender-based tolerance, and amongst a plethora of other factors.  Thus, healthcare inequality can be both a consequence of social determinants and a social determinant in its own right. Notwithstanding, provide an introspective answer to the above research question beyond aperfunctory answer we are all used to hearing from social media:  things are just the way they are– pervasive and inescapable and we can’t change or do anything about it.
Despite your political point-of-view, and just as an academic exercise, please take the assumption and philosophical concept that healthcare is a universal human right, and health equity means lifting the lives of everyone.

  • “Negotiating Identity: The Evolution of Indo-Caribbean Identity in the 20th and 21st Century”

    Assignment
This essay will ask you to analyze Indo-Caribbean history as “Indians” became “Indo-Caribbean.”
    Prompt
How did Indians in the Caribbean become Indo-Caribbean?  Did Indian identity become more Caribbean, or did Caribbean identity – perhaps Creole identity – become more inclusive of Indians (or both)?  How has Indo-Caribbean identity changed over time?  When answering these questions, keep the following in mind as you reflect on your essay:
Indian/Indo-Caribbean identity can include political, national, cultural, religious, gendered, sexual, and/or immigrant identities.  You can choose to focus on one or more of these frameworks in your essay.
How did Indo-Caribbean peoples negotiate their place in 20th/21st century Caribbean societies?
    Instructions
Answer the previous main questions in a narrative form in 1100-1400 words (approximately 4-5 double-spaced pages, 12 point font, 1 inch margins).
Use Chicago Style citations, which emphasizes footnotes (rather than in-text citations).
Write a clear thesis that ties your essay together.
Use specific evidence from at least four sources from class so far.
Choose at least one primary source to use as evidence to support your thesis.
Choose at least one secondary source (case study) to use as evidence to support your thesis.
Any subsequent source is your choice (i.e. they can be either primary or secondary sources).
Use lectures and/or secondary sources to offer necessary historical context.
Analyzing Change or Continuity Over Time
Each of these prompts asks you to analyze change over time or continuity over time.  As such, it is important to highlight how things are changing and why, or why things are not changing.  If possible, DO NOT use a source that you have used on previous essays (Please check in with me to make an argument as to why a source you have already used would be beneficial to reuse in your final essay).
Ask the following questions to help frame your conversation about change over time or continuity over time:
Are there any turning points that help explain why racial hierarchies or cultural mixture changed (e.g. political independence, Black Power, authoritarianism, migration, etc.)?
What broader historical context allows us to understand changes in ideology and/or practice?
A Few Tips on Historical/Social Science Writing
The key to historical analysis (and analysis in any discipline, really) is to offer specific evidence from the sources that support your thesis.
Incorporate the 5Ws in your analysis: Who, What, Where, When, Why.
Time, place, and context matter.  Use the lectures and secondary sources/case studies to contextualize your source.  Outside sources (including Wikipedia) are NOT necessary to complete this assignment.
Assume that the reader is unfamiliar with the source, the context of the source, and your knowledge of the source/context of the source.  So don’t take the details for granted.
You do not have to write a “history” about everything that occurred around the time of your chosen primary source.  Rather, choose the specific historical details that are most relevant to your analysis that allows you to make your argument.
Use Chicago Style to cite your sources and write your analysis.
Please do not separate the essay into sections (no labels like Introductions, conclusion, etc.). It should just be one whole essay, with paragraphs. I also attached the readings, please use these for the essay. Please refer to the instructions above for how many is needed.

This discussion has two parts: 1) What do you see from Britain’s colonization of South Africa and India that reveals how the British perceived the rest of the world? Then, 2) When you read the Rudd Concession, what do you think about the type of contract Britain used with other global leaders, and why would Lobengula have signed it?
