  • “Exploring Advanced Nursing Practice Positions: Educating and Promoting Diversity in the Nursing Workforce” “The Role of Healthcare Professionals in Healthcare Reform: An Analysis of Ink Industry Statistics and Potential Implications” National Statistics for this Occupation: – According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the annual mean wage for healthcare professionals in 2020 was $71

    Instructions
This module allows the student to investigate and teach an audience about an advanced nursing practice positions at the BSN level or higher. Part of being a professional is having the ability to communicate in a professional manner in both written and verbal formats. This module’s assignment is a professional presentation. All professional presentations need references, so it is important that scholarly resources are utilized as references (books, peer-reviewed journals, government websites, .edu websites, and professional organizations). The student should evaluate all websites with the same criteria utilized for the assignment in Module Three. To begin, the student should select a topic for their presentation. The options are below:
    Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (pediatrics, mental health, adult or family practice)
    Nursing PhD
    Doctor of Nursing Practice
    Midwife
The next step is to create a PowerPoint, covering all of the elements of the assignment (see below). After this is completed and references are added at the bottom of the page, the student should go to Canvas Studio and embed a video onto the PowerPoint. It is the responsibility of the student to get to know the technology. Failure to do so will result in a grade of “0” for the assignment. Finally, the student should upload the PowerPoint with embedded video in the module. This is done by selecting media to attach. The instructor cannot automatically see the student’s presentation unless it is shared with them.
This is an individual or group presentation (n more than 3 persons in a group) aimed at educating either nurses or the general public about an advanced nursing practice position. All presentations should be in PowerPoint with an embedded video. It is important to understand that the audience needs to see the PowerPoint clearly. If the presentation is done in a group, each person must present. Some general comments related to presentations:
All information that is not general knowledge needs a reference on the bottom of the slide. Slides should have keywords that the speaker expands on. Do not write in sentences or paragraphs in this presentation. No more than 3–4 lines on slides.
No reading off notes (points will be deducted).
    Dress professionally.
    Know the content.
See the PowerPoint slides in the course for examples.
Ensure your references are from scholarly resources.
Relax – this is a learning environment.
Each student should evaluate their group or themselves in the Self-Evaluation form.
    The presentation should:
Increase audience awareness, understanding, and knowledge of the topic.
Contain pertinent examples, facts, and/or statistics to support your point of view.
    Contain current and up-to-date information.
Credit all sources and graphics in APA format where appropriate within the slides and in a Reference list at the end.
    Follow the outline suggested below
Be appropriate for a professional nursing audience.
Be organized, easy-to-navigate, and appealing to the eye.

  • “Exploring and Solving Problems in Your Field: A Persuasive Analysis” Title: The Ongoing Presence of the Problem and the Stakes at Hand

Be sure you read and follow the instructions about revising previously graded work before putting it back in your portfolio. If you don’t make suggested revisions, you could lose valuable points. Please be sure to read all of this assignment description carefully. It’s very detailed. It describes two separate things. However, all items will be submitted in ONE Word document.
Describe a problem you might want to explore in your final paper. Then try to persuade your classmates to share your view that this problem needs to be looked at. Your initial post will have two parts:
What is the problem? Describe it in terms of who, what, where, when, how, and why. Why should this problem be examined? Persuade your peers that money/time should be committed to this problem. Use the appeals of ethos, logos, and pathos (described here in Types of Persuasive Appeals) as appropriate to convince them that this is an important issue to be studied and/or solved.
Your outline should include your thesis statement (a single complete sentence), a description of the problem, and a thorough analysis of the problem. It is not necessary to include a solution to the problem.
You will most likely have between 4 and 7 sections in your outline, with the introduction and conclusion being at either end. The middle sections will likely be body paragraphs and should provide evidence to support the assertion that is your thesis statement. Be sure that the elements of the outline are complete sentences. Please note that, if you have one subheading in a category, you should have a second subheading.
The portfolio that contains elements you have been working on throughout the course; and the final paper (problem analysis) that you will include as part of the portfolio. Let’s look at the BIG picture first, the final portfolio. What is a portfolio? A portfolio is a collection of items organized in a notebook, file, or a similar format. By collecting this information throughout a course, you can clearly see the connections among assignments as well as the progress you have made. In ENGL110, your portfolio will reflect the work you have done in a specific discipline or topic, ending with the analysis of a problem you have explored. Here are the required elements of the portfolio. The required sections are included in the template. Title Page Table of Contents Item 1 of the Portfolio – Description of Discourse Community in Your Field This is the assignment you submitted in week 2. You are to submit a final version of the description, including any changes recommended to you in the instructor’s feedback. Item 2 of the Portfolio – Annotated Bibliography for your Final Paper This is the assignment you submitted in week 4. You are to submit a final version of the annotated bibliography, including any changes recommended to you in the instructor’s feedback. Item 3 of the Portfolio – Final Paper – Analysis of a Problem This is the final problem analysis paper that is the culmination of all the work you have done in the course. Please see the complete description of the paper below. Final Paper (Problem Analysis)
Assignment Instructions This analysis project requires you to tackle a problem within your field of study by first exploring it, its causes, and its impacts. Then, if you want, you can recommend one or more practical solutions to solve the problem. After deciding on the problem you wish to tackle, begin building questions about it. Your goal for the analysis is to answer the questions through your sources. Finding multiple angles and perspectives is ideal so that you explore those possibilities in the final paper before settling on your recommendation. Be sure to identify what is at stake. Here are questions to help guide your analysis: What is the problem being addressed (explain, describe, and “prove” that it exists)? Who is affected by this problem? Why does this problem exist? (Identify the root causes.) Why does the problem persist? (Identify the major factors that contribute to the problem’s ongoing presence.) What is at stake if the problem is not solved? If you decide to include a solution, use these questions to guide you: Who can take action? What should they do, exactly? Why would this help? What are the positive and negative aspects of your solution(s)? PURPOSE: To analyze a problem and possibly provide a solution AUDIENCE: Classmates, others interested in the field LENGTH: 750-900 words (Times New Roman font). Please do not go significantly (~10%) under or above the word count requirement. This word count includes only the paragraphs in your final essay (not the Works Cited/References page or previously submitted sections).

  • “Modeling the Spread of a Disease Using Dice: A Party Simulation”

Activity 1 Directions: Using Dice to Model the Spread of a Disease You have been invited to a party with 39 other people. OH NO – it is discovered after the party one of the guest has an infectious disease. Were you infected? Procedure: We will assign each of the 39 other guest a number (1-39). You will be number 40. We first need to determine which other guest came to the party with the disease. To do this we will use a random number generator. Use https://www.random.org/
to find a random number between 1 and 39. Record this number on your record sheet. This will be the guest with the disease. Next, we use a dice to simulate the variability of the number of infected people. The number of newly infected people caused by each infected people at each step is determined by the value of tossing a fair dice, so the infection rate is not fixed.
Number on die                                                           Number of newly infected peopls
    1                                                                                           0
    2                                                                                          0
    3                                                                                          1
    4                                                                                          1
    5                                                                                          2
    6                                                                                          2
Stage One: Use the random number generator, https://www.random.org/integer-sets/, to generate a list of numbers. You should generate 40 numbers between 1 and 40 in one column. (We now use 40 numbers, since you are included in this spread of the disease.) Record these numbers on your list. On your list cross off the number of the initially infected person you found in stage one. This list is the order in which people will become newly infected. Roll a fair die. If you do not have die you can roll a virtual die here https://www.random.org/dice/. If the die shows 1 or 2, you have no newly infected people. Leave the stage one newly infected people blank on your record sheet and move to stage two. If the die shows 3 or 4, you have 1 newly infected person. Write down the first non-crossed off number on your list of the 40 random people under stage one newly infected people on your record sheet . Cross this number off your list and move on to stage two. If the die shows 5 or 6, you have 2 newly infected people. Write down the first two non-crossed off numbers on your list of 40 random people under stage one newly infected people. Cross these numbers off your list and move on to stage two.
Stage Two: Roll a fair die for each infected person in the previous stages and the initially infected person. Now the disease is spreading from each infected person. Use the same procedure from stage one for each dice roll. Make sure you record the ID number for each newly infected person under the stage two on your record sheet.
Stage Three: Once you have finished crossing off the newly infected people from stage two, you now roll the die again for each of these infected people. For example if you are starting stage 3 and you had 2 newly infected people in stage 1 and 3 newly infected people in stage 2, you would need to roll the die 6 times (initial person, 2 from stage 1, and 3 from stage 3). Use the same procedure from stage one for each dice roll. Make sure you record the ID number for each newly infected person under the appropriate stage on your record sheet.
Stages Four – Six Continue rolling the die for each infected person from the previous stage. Record the newly infected people. Reflection Answer the reflection questions on the record sheet and turn in your record sheet on Canvas.

  • The Value and Impact of the Humanities in Everyday Life Exploring the Humanities: Initial Thoughts, Perspectives, and Convictions

Choose one of the following options for your Original Post.
    Discussion Instructions
    Option #1: Quotes
    Required Reading #1
“On the one hand, they [the Humanities] are nonscientific, have little to do (at least directly) with business or economics, and they are not part of physical education or sports, either. On the other hand, though, they can deeply affect these more practical sides of life by informing how we think and express ourselves and how we anticipate and deal with change.”
    Required Reading #2
    Quote 1
”While there is a strongly idealistic streak among those who defend the Humanities as an essential part of a well-rounded education, on a practical level, their study also helps students develop and enhance many transferable skills for today’s workplace. Students can practice skills like communication, creativity, critical thinking, cultural responsiveness and awareness, and emotional intelligence by studying the Humanities.”
    Quote 2
”Perhaps, then, it is necessary and even crucial to bother with the Humanities. It is important to know who we humans, in our creativity and presence, are as individuals and who others are within their cultures, societies, histories, and within the world, if we want to co-exist with others, explain why we have difficulties co-existing, or work towards mutual understandings. And, there are few other fields of study that can as comprehensively contextualize and provide insight into the complexities of being human as effectively as the Humanities can.”
    Required Reading #3
    Quote 1
”Rooted in critical thinking, both the humanities and the sciences strive for objectivity. Innovation in either discipline requires creativity chastened by analysis. Interpretations or models are always subject to further examination as new information or perspectives emerge.”
    Quote 2
”While the humanities have scholarly standards, it is unclear to most people what the humanities’ social purpose is or how humanistic inquiry can be used to improve one’s life.”
    Quote 3
”Scientists provide us with the empirical data crucial to making informed policy decisions, but the data tell us nothing about the implications of our decisions. For that we need artists and writers to bring those repercussions to life, scholars to remind us how others have addressed or failed to address similar problems, and philosophers to help us clarify our responsibilities.”
    Quote 4
”In addition, scientific researchers are careful to limit their conclusions to what they can demonstrably extrapolate from data. It is not their responsibility to prepare us for the consequences of climate change. This is precisely where the humanities have an important contribution to make to the conversation. Artists and writers imagine and help us to understand or anticipate something we have never seen before, such as the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the Santa Ana fires of California, or the horrors of war. Our system of education needs to train students not only to value artistic vision, but also to cultivate their own imagination.”
Instructions: Choose one of the quotes above and do the following:
    1. Place the quote at the top of your post.
    2. Paraphrase the quote in your own words and mention briefly how it relates to the point of the entire reading.
    3. Discuss how it relates to your relationship with the Humanities in your everyday life OR why you disagree with something in the quote.
    4. Use at least one or two specific examples from your life or our culture to illustrate your points.
    5. Use at least one additional quote from any of this week’s Required Readings in your discussion in your discussion.
    6. Remember to use at least two quotes (one for step #1 and one for step #5) from the Required Learning Resources. Make sure to provide in-text citations for both quotes in MLA format.
    7. Provide references for all sources in MLA format.
Option #2: The Field of the Humanities
Think about your perceptions of the Humanities before and after reading the Required Learning Resources for this week and do the following:
    1. Discuss your initial thoughts about taking an Introduction to Humanities course when you first enrolled. What did you think this class would be about? What topics did you think would be covered? How did you feel about taking this class?
    2. Reading ::

    5. Provide references for all sources in MLA format.
Option #3: Do your own research
Find an article in the UMGC library from a reliable resource that either argues in favor of including Humanities courses in a college education or that argues against its inclusion. You may use one of the articles found in the references at the end of any of the Required Learning Resources. Then do the following:
    1. Briefly summarize the main point of the article and quote one main piece of support the author provides for their perspective.
    2. Compare this author’s perspective to a perspective presented in any one of the three Required Learning Resources for this week. Make sure to include another quote from that resource.
    3. Discuss which author’s perspective you find the most convincing and explain why.
    4. Remember to use at least two quotes, one from the resource you found and another from any of the Required Learning Resources in your discussions. Make sure to provide in-text citations for both quotes in MLA format.
    5. Provide references for all sources in MLA format.

  • Finding the Distance Between Two Points of Intersection on a Circle

Consider angles A and B in standard position, in the xy-plane. The measure of angle A is 𝜋4 radians, and the measure of angle B is 3𝜋4 radians. The terminal rays of both angles intersect a circle centered at the origin with radius of 5 units. What is the distance between these two points of intersection: the circle and terminal ray of angle A and the circle and terminal ray of angle B? Explain. A: 7.071 units; the points of intersection are reflections of each other over the x-axis, therefore we can use sin⁡(𝜋4)−5sin⁡(3𝜋4) to calculate the vertical displacement. B: 7.071 units; the points of intersection are reflections of each other over the y-axis, therefore we can use 5cos⁡(𝜋4)−5cos⁡(3𝜋4) to calculate the horizontal displacement. C: 3.536 units; the points of intersection are reflections of each other over the y-axis, therefore we can use sin⁡(𝜋4)+5sin⁡(3𝜋4) to calculate the horizontal displacement. D: 3.536 units; the points of intersection are reflections of each other over the x-axis, therefore we can use cos⁡(𝜋4)+5cos⁡(3𝜋4) to calculate the vertical displacement.
