Title: Persuasive Speech Outline: Addressing the Issue of Plastic Pollution in Our Oceans I. Introduction A. Attention Getter: Start with a shocking statistic about plastic pollution in the oceans B. Relevance: Explain
Speech Outline
For this journal, you will be creating a persuasive speech outline as well as answering specific questions about your creative speech writing process.
For this journal, identify an occasion and your audience for a persuasive speech. Next, create an outline for a 4- to 5-minute persuasive speech. You may choose a problem-solution or motivated-sequence pattern for your outline. Include a minimum of five main points. Each main point must contain at least four supporting points of evidence. List one scholarly reference that you would use to support your points.
In your outline, be sure to include where you would incorporate presentation aids to support your key points.
Note: You will not present this speech in this class. You will create an outline for a possible future speech. Include headings and subheadings for your outline.
Include a paragraph that addresses the questions below.
Who is your audience?
How did you choose your topic for that audience?
How would you prepare for this speech?
What presentation aids would you use?
What tools would you use to decrease any speech anxiety?

Title: “Exploring the Impact of Self-Checkout Technology on Staffing Issues in the Retail Industry”
For your second planning exercise, gather at least two (preferably more) sources, and provide a 50-100 word paragraph for each beneath it. Each paragraph should summarize the source’s main idea and explain how you see the source helping you in developing your own thesis.
A sample follows:
McWilliams, Alexis, Ismet Anitsal, and M. M. Anitsal. “CUSTOMER VERSUS EMPLOYEE PERCEPTIONS: A REVIEW OF SELF-SERVICE TECHNOLOGY OPTIONS AS ILLUSTRATED IN SELF-CHECKOUTS IN U.S. RETAIL INDUSTRY.” Academy of Marketing Studies Journal, vol. 20, no. 1, 2016, pp. 79-98. ProQuest, https://www.proquest.com/scholarly-journals/customer-versus-employee-perceptions-review-self/docview/1804900318/se-2.
The article by McWilliams et. al describes a thorough review of stores using self-checkout lanes. While not a direct address of staffing issues, the article does point out the customer service reactions and the lack of staffing pushed forward by introducing self-checkout lines, as well as the causes for them.
I plan on using the article to provide some background for 1) reasons for the staffing issues at grocery stores, as well as some of the effects the staffing issues have had on customers elsewhere, pointing out how those issues would translate well to the grocery stores in the metro area.
For reference, the two paragraphs under the article total 101 words. -

Title: “Community Policing: A Comprehensive Approach to Improving Law Enforcement and Community Relations”
TERM PAPER INSTRUCTIONS
TOPIC
Your final project must be on one of the following topics:
– Community Policing (in support of CO4 and CO5)
– Whether a College Degree Should be Mandatory for Police Recruits (in support of CO2)
– A topic focused on a specific aspect of Equity, Diversion, Equality (EDI) as it relates to law enforcement and this course. Keep in mind, EDI is far more than simply a discussion on race. Potential EDI areas for consideration can in part include issues related to race, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, tribe, casts, socio-economic status, thinking and communication styles, etc. This topic allows a wide variety of potential topics and in turn is in support of all 5 COs). All EDI based topics within this category are pre-approved so long as it relates to law enforcement and this course, but if unsure if your topic can work please post it in the Question Tab of the Forums for instructor approval
PAGE LENGTH AND REQUIREMENTS
The final project will include a minimum of 15-17 pages of content in the body of the paper (you may go longer but not shorter in length). This 15-17 pages does not count, i.e., it excludes the cover page, abstract, table of contents, any and all quotes, images, charts, pictures, and reference section. Hence, the completed paper will be longer than 15 pages, and is expected to range anywhere from 18-21 pages depending on how many quotes, if images are included, # of references, etc.
All quotes, minus those 40 or more words which will be indented and single spaced to clearly show they are quotes, must be encapsulated in quotation marks. Likewise, all papers must be 100% original work to this class. The discovery of past work being used will be treated as cheating, and as is the case for plagiarism, will as a minimum will result in a 0 for the paper.
The paper is to be double spaced (do not add extra space beyond double spacing), with 1″ margins all around, Times New Roman, 12 pitch; no other style or pitch is to be used in the paper. Students who opt to utilize larger fonts, or add extra spacing beyond regular double spacing, and or put in margins larger than 1″ all around will as a minimum see an automatic full letter grade deduction.
Each student will be required to complete the term paper in the most recent edition of APA. A running head is not required for this paper
This is to be of high quality, free of spelling and grammatical errors, and of original work. Plagiarism will be dealt with harshly, and at the least will be an automatic 0 on the paper (revisions will not be allowed when plagiarism is discovered and in turn requests to do that should not be asked…requests to revise plagiarized work will not be considered).
Please be sure that your paper is a Word Document (.doc) uploaded to the assignment section as an attachment.
REFERENCES
Students will be required to use at least 5 scholarly – (peer-reviewed)- sources. Students have access to peer-reviewed sources through the APUS library. Note: .com, and .org sources can be used for referenced support, but will not count toward the minimum scholarly source requirement. -
“Improving Access to Healthy Food Options in Low-Income Communities: A Policy Brief”
ntroduction to Report #2: Policy Brief
Policy briefs are essential in public health for their role in effective communication, influencing decision-makers, addressing emerging issues, advocating for evidence-based policies, and contributing to overall improvements in public health outcomes.
In this assignment you will select a health issue, program, or policy associated with social determinants of health (SDOH) and create a policy brief about it. Briefs are used by advocates at all levels of government to inform policy makers (and a general audience) about the basics of an issue or potential policy. PLEASE review the various social determinants and lesson plans and select a narrowed down topic that is of interest to you. This should not be left to a broad vague topic. For instance, if you are interested in housing quality then you might narrow down on research and specific policy related to something in housing quality (e.g., lead in homes).
These types of documents/briefs help to influence local, state and federal policy. They are utilized by organizations to communicate their stance on topics and serve as a resource of information to staff, organization members and partners, as well as policymakers. They offer an organization’s general position and recommendation on an issue or potential policy. They can help shape the development of legislative, regulatory, and other advocacy efforts.
You will need to utilize evidence-based findings to talk about your topic and through this research you might find example policies or recommended changes to existing policies that you will want to write about. You are expected to incorporate (minimum) 4 external sources that show evidence-based findings on your topic and support your policy idea. At least 2 of the sources need to come from scholarly, peer-reviewed journals. None of the sources should be personal opinion pieces, blogs, etc. They needed to be grounded in credible data-driven readings. Please use the resources in the ‘APA Formatting and Citation Guide’ in the left hand menu of our class (this is listed under the ‘Resources’ subheading).
My hope is that you consider policy options and make a recommendation through a policy brief versus just discuss the issue. It is best if you approach this as if you were writing for an organization, agency, advocacy group, etc. Briefs are just that, brief, 2-3 pages. They often do include some visuals, displaying data and this is preferred in the assignment but you will not be marked down if you do not have a visual.

“Improving Supply Chain Performance: Analyzing Key Performance Indicators and Solutions”
Please follow the instructions submit what it’s asking for.
QSO 330 Module Six Assignment Guidelines and Rubric
Overview
Before you begin, review the KPI Scenario Chart linked in Supporting Materials below. Assume that you are the supply chain manager. The information in the chart portrays key performance indicators (KPIs) that you monitor to assess the efficiency of your network. Use the data in the KPI Scenario chart to answer the questions for each of the following scenarios:
Scenario 1
In this scenario, the warehouse is routinely past inventory capacity, and product age and overall cycle time are increasing. Your vehicle fleet is just past its prime; however, it is holding together well due to a robust and thorough preventive maintenance program. You barely meet your delivery schedules, and trucks often leave the warehouse late. Once at the warehouse, they wait excessively before being loaded and hitting the road again.
Scenario 1 Questions
What is the root cause behind the reduced number of on-time deliveries?
How can a warehouse management system (WMS) affect the delivery performance of a supply chain?
Scenario 2
In this scenario, the warehouse space appears constrained, but inventory moves through the warehouse effectively. Your vehicle fleet is new. However, the maintenance program is behind, which may be due to the newer vehicles not needing maintenance at this time. You barely meet your delivery schedules, and trucks often leave the warehouse late. Once at the warehouse, they are loaded on time, arrive on time, and depart on time.
Scenario 2 Questions
What is the root cause behind being late to depart and not delivering on time?
How can Total Preventative Maintenance help the fleet from causing issues with delivery?
Scenario 3
In this final scenario, your deliveries to retail stores have not been on time lately, and neither have the departures of loaded trucks from your distribution centers. Load times are well within standards. However, the trucks are just not getting on the road on time.
Additionally, while you have plenty of space in the warehouse, much of the inventory has been sitting there for longer than anticipated. It seems to be gathering dust on the shelves.
Your vehicle fleet is reaching the end of its economic life span, and routine preventive maintenance barely stays ahead of repairs.
Scenario 3 Questions
What do you believe are the root causes of late deliveries? How would you adjust operations to improve this situation?
How does the inventory situation in the warehouse contribute to the issue of late deliveries?
Directions
Create a narrated (audio) presentation addressing each of the above scenarios. Use these guidelines for your presentation. For help with PowerPoint narration or adding speaker notes, review the resources in the module Reading and Resources section.
Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:
Create two content slides for each of the above scenarios (six slides in total).
Each slide should address one of the questions provided for the scenario. Each slide should have three to five short points plus one graphic.
In the notes section for each slide, answer the question in one complete paragraph of speaker notes.
Add voice-over narration to each slide.
The total narration for your presentation should be no more than 5 minutes in length.
What to Submit
Submit your presentation as a Microsoft PowerPoint formatted file (PPTX or PPSX). Your presentation should consist of 6 slides of narrated content plus the title and references slides. Include supporting research cited in APA format for all content slides.
