Purpose: Successful completion of this assignment provides evidence of competency in two learning domains: examining/interpreting (GEC 6) and evaluating/critically analyzing (GEC3) scientific material that is relevant to this course.
Format: Your paper is to be divided into the following sections:
Introduction – Provide an overview of the condition, including relevant statistics and evidence. For example, how many persons are affected? How many new cases are there each year? Which factors put persons at risk? What is the global impact? Is the incidence of this disorder increasing or decreasing?
Analysis – Most of your information will be presented in this section. You are expected to be thorough yet concise, and to provide evidence of critical analysis. For example, when you explain a disease or condition, include information that describes what is happening at the molecular, cellular, and tissue levels, using your own words. Avoid using quotations as substitutes for material that you do not understand. Do not make statements that are common knowledge.
Be sure to include the following:
A thorough explanation of the condition, including causes, signs, symptoms, and complications. Is it linked to other disorders?
Treatment and prevention. Provide evidence and perhaps some case studies, and be current!
Dietary recommendations: This requires critical evaluation of scientific evidence and objectivity. Avoid making claims that have little or no credible evidence to support them, and be careful not to confuse a recommendation with a “cure”. Also, do not confuse the deficiency of a given nutrient as the “cause” of a disorder unless you can provide scientific proof.
The research paper should be written in the APA style, between 4-6 pages long, double-spaced, not inclusive of the title page and reference page. Use Times New Roman 12pt font. For help with the APA style, utilize Academic Writer.

“Improving Operational Management at Ashley Stewart: A Comprehensive Analysis and Recommendations”
The term paper is a comprehensive semester-long project. Students will complete this project in the steps described below. Your final paper is your major contribution, where you will exhibit your learning. Students will individually select an organization, assess its managerial effectiveness, and make recommendations to improve its operations management plans and results through the approaches, principles, and methods learned in the class. You are free to choose an organization that you are familiar with, including an organization you have already started or worked for.
This project will incorporate important concepts and frameworks introduced throughout the course and will demonstrate the student’s ability to understand and properly apply these concepts in real-life contexts.
Parameters and guidelines for the term paper are as follows:
Select an organization, e.g., a corporation, company, firm, or association (ideally, an organization that you have some interest in) for an in-depth analysis of their operational management practices.
The term paper should be at least 2,000 words with at least 5 scholarly references in addition to your e-text for a minimum of 5 total references. Please keep in mind that the word count requirements point out the minimum amount of effort that should be put into the paper. Word count isn’t everything because the quality of writing and research matters as well, but it is an indication of the quantity of effort put into the assignment. Note that word count does not include title, abstract, or reference pages. Not following this requirement will significantly impact the grade.
It is acceptable to use a company website for research, say for example if you are researching Apple, it’s ok to use www.apple.com to describe its mission, strategy, financials, etc.
The Term Paper should be well organized and encompass the above subject and content guidelines, and an electronic copy of the project should be submitted via Turnitin.
The Term Paper will consist of four major sections:
Background and Context: Discuss the type of industry, products/services, and how organizational vision and strategies have influenced their operations management.
Analysis of current operations management practices used by your company. You should discuss key terms and principles learned in class and how they relate to the status and future goals of the company.
Your recommendations for improvement and sustainability for the next 1-2 years for your company with regards to operations management. Ensure that these align with the organization’s vision and values.
References – Use at least 5 scholarly references in addition to your e-text for a minimum of 6 total references.
