“Assessing Offenders: A Comparison of Two Risk and Needs Assessment Instruments” Introduction When working with offenders or justice-affected individuals, it is crucial for human service professionals to conduct a comprehensive assessment in order to understand the factors that may
To determine what factors are most likely to have an impact on an offender or a justice-affected person, a human service professional needs to conduct a comprehensive assessment. Like last week’s assignment, this week you will explore additional assessment tools that have been created. Not only do you want to know what assessment tools are available to you, but you want to be able to determine which one is going to provide you with the data you need. In this assignment, explore how these assessments can provide you with different types of information and what you can do with that information.
Imagine you have been asked to write a review of two assessment tools used with offenders for a newsletter.
Review Offender Risk & Needs Assessment Instruments: A Primer for Courts. (https://ncsc.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/criminal/id/473/rec/1)
Select 2 of the instrumentals profiled in the index.
Research the 2 instruments using course readings and 2 additional articles from the University Library. Consider the following questions for your research:
Where would you use the instruments (e.g., probation, prison, jail, diverse program)?
How would you use them?
Why would you use them?
What are specific examples of how the instruments would be used?Write a 700- to 1,050-word article for the newsletter that compares the 2 instruments and in which you:
Describe each tool.
Explain how each tool works.
Determine which tool you feel is the better instrument.
Justify your selection.
Include an example of how the instrument would improve the analysis of a client’s situation and provide assistance to the client. -
“Improving Data Governance in Healthcare: A Strategic Plan for Enhanced Privacy and Security” Slide 1: Introduction – Welcome and thank the board for their time – Introduce the topic: “Improving Data Governance in Healthcare: A Strategic
What would a powerpoint presentation look like for the following scenario?
Create a strategic improvement plan fr a healthcare organization that includes data collection, data governance, and evidence-based decision-making components.
To ensure that you develop a reliable data governance plan, you have decided to conduct an assessment of your organization’s current practices and to determine if there were any previous concerns about a data breach. During your assessment, you learned that there have been repeated issues around data breach within your organization. In one such incident, over one thousand Personally Identifiable Information (PII) was lost in one of the three facilities that you manage. In another incident, a consultant employed by the organization was able to access patients’ data that they were not supposed to see.
To ensure that you get the buy-in of your board, you decided to put together a PowerPoint presentation that you will deliver to them in your next executive meeting.
In this presentation, be sure to address the following:
· A demonstration of the implication of data breach (financial, reputation) to healthcare organizations in the United States.
· Legislation aimed at promoting data privacy and security (directly or indirectly)
o HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
o Research regulations
· At least three things that need to be in place to ensure improved data privacy and security within the organization
· At least three best practices that your employers should adopt to ensure patient privacy is maintained at all times
· Note how any policy recommendations are ethical and promote accountability and professionalism
· An appropriate data governance model (chart) that you create. It should not be the chart previously presented in the course. -
Title: “Improving Quality Culture in Healthcare Organizations: The Role of Education, Communication, and Just Culture”
Culture drives quality – if an organization does not have a culture where they hold themselves and others accountable, probably, it will not achieve and sustain high-level quality outcomes. Patient safety is defined as freedom from accidental injury; you have seen how medical errors are harmful and that there are second victims who suffer. Remember, quality can be defined as “the cumulative impact of all that happens to a patient while in an organization’s care (Porter, 2012, pg.193).
Culture is essential to creating a high-reliability organization. Recent research indicates that educational programs support the health system’s high-reliability efforts. Assess how education and communication have been key to engaging medical care providers in high-reliability efforts.
A Just Culture gives organizations a template to uniformly address the shortcomings or errors of those who fail. It addresses failures in four different areas, which include 1) human errors and mistakes, meaning unintentional harm, 2) carelessness or at-risk behavior – or not paying attention that results in an error, 3) recklessness or a flagrant disregard for norms where an error occurs unintentionally, but because of recklessness, and 4) those who do not pay attention and have no regard for authority.
In this discussion, you will identify a model that a healthcare organization might use to improve its quality culture and describe whether the ethical theory of Just Culture would enhance the quality and patient safety and why. -
“Addressing Health Disparities in the Hispanic Community: Trends, Challenges, and Interventions”
Peer Responses:
Length: A minimum of 170 words per post, not including references
Citations: At least TWO high-level scholarly reference in APA per post from within the last 5 years
In our clinical practice, most of the patients we serve are in the Hispanic community. The providers must be familiar with the health trends associated with their population to provide appropriate management and preventative care. In this discussion, I will discuss the Hispanic population’s overall health.
Hispanic populations in the United States have a lower mortality rate of 17.5% compared to non-Hispanic White populations before the COVID-19 pandemic (Sarraju et al., 2022). However, the mortality trends of the Hispanic population reversed in Los Angeles County after the COVID-19 pandemic, with higher mortality rates significantly calculated (Sarraju et al., 2022). The study mentioned prospective explanations for the significant increase in mortality rate among Hispanic populations, such as the population living in denser communities and multigenerational households and language barriers (Sarraju et al., 2022). The Hispanic population’s educational attainment according to 2019 U.S. Census Bureau data are as follows: 71.8% of Hispanics compared to non-Hispanics White is 94.6%; 18.8% of Hispanics in comparison to 40.1% of non-Hispanic whites had a Bachelor’s degree; and 5.7% of Hispanics compared to 15.1% of non-Hispanic whites have graduate degrees (United States Department of Health & Human Services, n.d.). Concerning insurance coverage, the Hispanic population has the highest rate of uninsured people, based on the 2020 Census Bureau (United States Department of Health & Human Services, n.d.). Based on 2019 data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the leading causes of mortality in the Hispanic population are cancer, heart disease, accidents, stroke, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease (United States Department of Health & Human Services, n.d.). The Hispanic populations also have a higher rate of obesity compared to non-Hispanic Whites (United States Department of Health & Human Services, n.d.).
Healthy Fit is an intervention to address health disparities in the Hispanic community to address health issues, particularly cardiovascular diseases (Brown et al., 2018). The program can cover uninsured, underinsured, or Medicaid patients (Brown et al., 2018). Participants will undergo initial health screening, follow-up interviews, preventative screenings, and vaccinations, and patients who are candidates for obesity or hypertension will receive fotonovelas and health education materials that are culturally tailored for the population (Brown et al., 2018). According to the study, the Healthy Fit project successfully addressed health issues and health screenings in vulnerable Hispanic communities and may expand the project to more Hispanic communities nationwide (Brown et al., 2018).

Title: Addressing Health Literacy as a Global Issue: Sustainable Development Goals and Healthy People 2030 One Sustainable Development Goal related to health literacy is SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. This goal aims to ensure universal access
health literacy is a world-wide issue including here in the U.S. Interventions to provide training, as you say for both patients and healthcare providers, must be relevant to the culture and within the means of the individuals to use the education. For example, access to books and the Internet can be limited in remote areas of most countries. It is also important when considering providing education in countries with limited resources to think about sustainability over time and the ability to reach large numbers of individuals (Meherali et al., 2020).
The Sustainable Development Goals is an effort by the United Nations that addresses issues and risks from a global perspective (Sigma, 2023).
Questions: What is one Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) related to healthy literacy? What is a program that is working on that goal? What is one of the objectives of Healthy People 2030 related to health literacy? What is one example of this? Identify one socioeconomic determinant of health (SDoH) that is relevant to health literacy. What is the effect of this global issue on your Virginia ?
