  • “Exploring Intercultural Communication through Ethnographical Research: A Narrative of Observing and Understanding a Culture or Subculture”

We have discussed numerous Intercultural Communication Concepts in class including ethnographical research. Your task is to write a narrative about your experience and plan a presentation about your ethnography. Additional research is required to complete the task.
The steps you must take are listed below:
    1. Select an accessible location you can observe a culture or subculture. Students must spend a minimum of three fifty-minute sessions at the location(s).
Example: The gym, gaming group, an LGBTQ event(s), a dog park, a coffee shop, virtual groups, message boards, etc.
Procedure: Students will observe the culture or subculture.
Product: You must write ½-1 page rationale explaining why you chose that culture.
    2. Write comprehensive field notes. Students will submit their field notes in a folder with their narratives. What did you hear, see, smell, touch, or taste? How did the interactants communicate verbally and nonverbally? What were some of their rituals? Were there cultural taboos?
    Procedure: Collect your field notes.
Product: A folder of compiled field notes
Prepare a 3-5 page narrative. Students must compile their field notes into a narrative. What is the story you want to tell us about the culture or subculture you observed? These are possible topic, but you may discuss your own concepts.
    A.Verbal Communication
    B. Nonverbal Communication
    C. Relational Dynamics
    D. Elements of Culture
Procedure: Type a narrative that explains the culture you observed.
Product: A typed 3-5 page typed, double-spaced document
    Outline Format (Title)
    I. Introduction
    A. Where did you complete your observation?
    B. Why did you choose the culture or subculture?
    C. What challenges did you experience?
II. Body (You may discuss any topics, but I provided an example.)
    A. Verbal Communication
    B. Nonverbal Communication
    C. Relational Dynamics
    D. Elements of Culture
    E. Interesting Experiences
    III. Conclusion
    A. What did you learn from your experience?
    B. If you could do it over again, what would you have done differently?

  • “Exploring the Gap in Tourism Literature: A Comprehensive Research Proposal”

I have attached the research part of the assessment, however, the presentation needs additional information.  you have the brief for the presentation and the essay.
    Title
    (1 slide)
    To ensure that
your title and topic point directly to the focus of your research, check to see
that key terms in the statement of the gap in the literature and the research
aim are reproduced in the title.
    Research
    problem or justification (1-2 slides)
    Description of
your research – what, how, why (the research needs to be done)
    What issue,
problem, controversy, or important matter has led to research on the topic and
set your research into wider context of the discipline.
    Theoretical framework (2 slides)
    Theoretical
    framework will be presented
as a model or a flowchart and supported by detailed description in the speaker
notes. It will justify three topics investigated further in the Literature
    Review.
    In summary, the
theoretical framework model and literature review are interconnected in the
research process. The literature review informs the development of the
theoretical framework by identifying relevant theories and concepts,
integrating them into a coherent framework, and establishing the conceptual
basis for the research study. In this presentation students need to demonstrate the
Theoretical framework model not actually the literature review.
    As an option,
you may have 1 slide for Theoretical framework, and 1 slide for Conceptual
Framework, both presented as mind maps, or flowcharts, or as models. To
create mind-maps / flowcharts you are advised to use instruments presented in
    slides 39-44, Week 1, Day 1.
References are mandatory. Resources, not used in the research
proposal, are needed in this section of the presentation.
    Gap
in the literature or evidence of the problem from reports, etc. (1 slide)
    Outlines the field
of literature and the ‘gap’, the main findings to date, theories, debates, and
remaining questions within the literature, and explains how the research will
contribute to the gap. References are mandatory.
    Research
aim, research objective and a research question (1 slide)
    Outline the focus
or names the specific knowledge the research methodology aims to generate.
    What will you need
to know to answer the research question? How can you find this out?
    Explain the
research design and methodology: qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods.
    Clarify the
correlations between the research objectives and the chosen approach.
    Research
    method and methodology (4-5 slides)
Explain what you will do to achieve the research aim or reach your
conclusions. You might consider the following:
    –
    Data
    and resources.
    –
    Possible
collaboration with organisations and institutions in the tourism sector in the
    UK. Or educational/research institutions.
    –
    Budget.
    –
    Research
design and choice of research methods.
    –
    Samling
    design: the population or sample from which participants will be selected;
location of the sample; the sample size; how the sample will be selected; surveys,
questionnaires, including the one(s) you created, and tests used; how the data
    generated will be analysed.
    –
    Choice/creation
of research instruments, including online platforms, applications or software
needed to a) collect data; b) analyse data.
    –
    Your
personal role in the research, your readiness (previous experience, research,
training?). You need to explain and persuade your audience that you are the
right person to complete the research, and competent enough to resolve the
    research problem.
    –
    Understanding
    legislation.
    –
    Ethics
and confidentiality: Does your research involve people? Can you get enough data?
How will you keep it confidential? Health and Safety considerations.
    Summary
or statement of proposed outcomes of the research (1 slide)
    Research
    timeline (1 slide).
    Justify the
research feasibility. Explain practical limitations and how you plan to deal
    with them.

  • “Isoniazid Toxicity in Dogs: Mechanism, Physiology, and Treatment”

    Overview
Certain drugs used primarily in human medicine can be used under certain circumstances in animals. However, there are some that must be used with caution or not at all in an animal due to their toxicity profile. The following project is intended for you to investigate the effects of a specific human drug that is toxic in dogs. Explore the drug mechanism and dog physiology factors that contribute to toxicity, and the treatment approach to toxicosis. This project relates to the material you have learned regarding pharmacology (and toxicology) principals, recognition of drug-related clinical signs, and appropriate approaches to these.
    Instructions
You work in a veterinary hospital where a few clients have presented dogs with illnesses after they were given or accidentally ingested isoniazid tablets that belonged to clients taking these tablets for their own tuberculosis infections. In most cases, a dog had clinical signs after ingesting one or more 300 mg isoniazid tablets, one of these cases proved fatal. The hospital is collaborating with other veterinary clinics and hospitals that have reported similar cases of isoniazid overdoses in dogs.
Students are required to write a research paper discussing isoniazid overdose in dogs. The paper must address the five components listed below.
Explain the mechanism of isoniazid’s antimicrobial action and how this relates to toxicity in dogs
Discuss the unique dog biochemistry that promotes isoniazid toxicity in dogs
Identify the organ systems affected by isoniazid toxicity in dogs and describe clinical signs associated with the effects on these organ systems
Describe the primary treatment approach to isoniazid toxicity and the antidote for isoniazid toxicosis.
Explain the mechanism of action of the antidote used when treating isoniazid toxicity
    Project Specifications
You must turn in a single word-processing document, 3-6 pages in length, using Times New Roman size 12 font, double spaced with normal 1” margins
The title page should contain the following information:
The Title: Vet 305 Advanced Veterinary Pharmacology
    Your Name
    Your student ID number
    Your email address
The date the project was submitted
The paper must address the five required components.
The paper should be easy to read with correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
The paper should include a minimum of four references listed in APA format at the end of the document on a references page. Each reference should have corresponding in-text citations. You can use the course textbook as one reference, but you’ll need at least three other outside references. Sources used should be from medical publications or websites. Do not use sites like Wikipedia.
    Summary
Explore the drug mechanism and dog physiology factors that contribute to toxicity, clinical signs of toxicity, and the treatment approach to isoniazid toxicosis.

  • Title: Summary and Reflection of Readings on Ethical and Professional Conduct in Behavior Analysis Summary: The readings for this week focused on ethical and professional conduct in behavior analysis. The main idea of the readings is to provide behavior analysts with a framework

At least two paragraphs summarizing the entirety of the readings.  For example, what is the main idea of the readings, when there are multiple chapters or articles, what ties them together? When citing, use APA style (author/s, (date), page). Some weeks this section will be shorter and other weeks it will be longer based on the week’s readings.
At least one paragraph discussing two concepts that you found particularly interesting, or that challenged your belief system. Reference the specific readings and cite your source using APA style (author/s ( date), page)
At least one paragraph discussing the impact of your reading to your practice.  For example, what should a behavior analyst DO to be most reflective of this content?  Reference the specific readings and cite your source using APA style (author/s, (date), page).
