Fact Pattern
The facts are as follows: Julia Williams owns a residence at 12 West Avenue, Annapolis, MD. On the night of December 2, 2022, Ms. Williams worked an overnight shift as a nurse. At approximately 5:00 AM, Ms. Williams returned home and observed individuals inside of her living room. Specifically, while the living room was dark, Ms. Williams observed through a very large living room window that two individuals wearing dark clothes were inside the living room with flash lights.
Ms. Williams then called 911 and reported that intruders were inside of her home. Based on the 911 call, officers responded to the residence.
The police entered the residence and both of the individuals inside the living room were placed under arrest.
The officers then conducted pat-downs of both individuals: Jim Brady and Tom Wilson.
The police officers recovered a handgun from Mr. Brady’s waistband. Upon further investigation, the officers recovered three glassine envelopes containing a white powdery substance from Mr. Brady’s right jacket pocket.
On Mr. Wilson’s person, the police officers recovered two digital scales and $1,541 in cash from Wilson’s jacket pocket. The officers also recovered a revolver, $795 in cash, and a prescription drug bottle prescribed to Julia Williams containing 10 Percocet tablets from a backpack that Wilson was carrying.
None of the guns are properly registered and neither Brady nor Wilson have valid permits to carry any firearms.
Discuss the potential charges that can be filed against Brady and Wilson.

Excel Regression Analysis Assignment
Begin by opening the Excel File and read through the Scenario at the top of the page, then notice there are tabs at the bottom of the workbook that constitute your homework assignment.
Next, hyperlinked directly below are several YouTube videos that will aid you in completing the assignment tasks. They are all short (under 10 minutes), so watch them all in succession before you start your homework. Then, as you start each Tab in the Excel Workbook, keep a copy of the appropriate video handy, each assignment almost exactly mirrors these videos; albeit with different scenarios.
There are several “Tasks” in the workbook and they are on separate Tabs. Look over the tasks and make sure you understand the scenario, the data you are given, and the parameters for the regression analysis. If you get lost and can’t quite figure out how to proceed, message your instructor, we are always glad to help. Before submitting this assignment, scroll down each tab in succession and make sure you have completed all of the tasks described in the Spreadsheet.
This weeks assignment is best completed while watching the videos above; in order. It is recommended that you have the video open on one side (1/2) of your screen and the homework template on the second half of the screen. That way, you can watch the video and complete the assignment synchronously. Make sense?
You must use formulas to calculate every answer. No credit will be given if a number is simply inserted.

“Anatomy of the Eye: Understanding the Main Parts and Their Functions in Vision”
The eye has several main parts:
1. **Cornea**: The transparent outer layer that covers the front of the eye.
2. **Pupil**: The opening in the center of the iris that allows light to enter the eye.
3. **Iris**: The colored part of the eye that regulates the amount of light entering the eye by adjusting the size of the pupil.
4. **Lens**: Focuses light onto the retina at the back of the eye.
5. **Retina**: The light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye that contains cells called rods and cones, which convert light into electrical signals.
6. **Optic Nerve**: Transmits these electrical signals from the retina to the brain, where they are interpreted as visual images.
These parts work together to enable vision by capturing light, focusing it, and converting it into neural signals that the brain can interpret as images. -

Defining Art in Ancient Greek Philosophy: A Microtheme Analysis
Microthemes feature a small amount of writing preceded by a large amount of thinking, so you should think carefully about your answer before you start writing. That way, you will be able to explain your position thoroughly even in a very short essay.
You should also base your answer on the course readings, rather than on our common understanding of “art” or on definitions that you find in other sources or classes. Two good places to start are with the explanation that Sachs provides in a footnote (30) and with what Kennedy says about the relationship between an art, a skill and a knack (62-63). You may also find it helpful to look at what the other ancient writers, such as the historical Gorgias and Isocrates said, as well as Plato’s arguments in the dialogues Gorgias and Phaedrus. You will most likely find it helpful to quote briefly from the course readings to support your claims, but most of the essay should be your original ideas.
Writing strategies: Be sure to develop a clear thesis for your essay. Often, you will not be able to clearly frame the thesis until after you have begun (or even concluded) a draft of your essay, so be sure to leave time for revision. Revision is especially important when you are writing a short but dense essay. Get rid of anything not central to your these. Don’t waste space by including the full names of authors or the full titles of works, nor by quoting from the assignment sheet. Be sure to support your claims by referring to the course materials. Be sure also to write in academic voice that is neither pompous and formal nor conversational and chatty. Do not write in the second person (addressing your readers as “you”). Be very careful to document accurately and correctly. If you are referring to assigned course readings, you need only provide the author or title and page or line number (e.g. Kennedy 62; or Gorgias 464b2-d9). You should provide a reference for any other sources you choose to cite. -
“Mastering the Art of Process Explanation: From Science to Linguistics”
Explaining a process is a common feature in almost all college textbooks. A science text may explain the carbon nitrogen cycle. A history text may explain the sequence of events that caused the Black Plague to spread across Europe. A linguistic text may explain how new words are added to the language.
By definition, a process is a “series of actions or operations that produces a particular result.” Many process essays such as the ones described above, explain how something works or occurs. Then there are process essays that explain how to do or make something. This type of essay may, for example, explain how to use a new piece of software, how to manage your time, or how to use reading and writing processes. -
“Tech Crowd Magazine Infographic: Exploring Social Media Use and Mobile Technology” “Tech Crowd: A Visual Analysis of the Growing Technology Industry”
Scenario You are a visual designer working at a national magazine publisher. Recently, your department received reports pertaining to mobile technology and social media use. You are to select one topic to focus on and create a tabloid-size, static infographic that will be included in the “Technology and Culture” section of Tech Crowd magazine. You can select from the following topics: Social Media Use CHOSEN TOPIC: Which Social Media Channels are Most Commonly Used Mobile Technology The reports included data sets for each topic that highlight relevant data. You also have access to a Brand Style Guide for the magazine. The Brand Style Guide will ensure that your infographic design will be branded appropriately by providing approved typography, colors, logos, and other design specifications. Both the data set and the Brand Style Guide will support your work on the project deliverables and are linked in Supporting Materials. Directions For your chosen topic, you are required to create two deliverables: a project proposal and a static infographic. You should revise and resubmit the project proposal you created for the milestone assignment in Module Five based on any instructor feedback you may have received. Part 1: Project Proposal(COMPLETED – see attached) Use the Project Proposal Template linked in the What to Submit section. Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria: Describe the intent of the infographic for your chosen topic. Include the following: Which aspects of the given data will you focus on? Why? Who is the intended audience for your infographic? Explain. Explain the relationships between the variables based on the given data set. Explain the intended story from the data set. Include the following: What does the data set tell you about your chosen topic? Explain. What are the big ideas represented by the data set? Explain. Choose three visualizations that you will use to best represent the story. Include the following details for each visualization: Visualization type Scale and size of data Colors Font types Explain how the chosen visualizations convey the relationships between the variables. Explain how each visualization represents the story. Identify at least one existing visual element from the Brand Style Guide that will help you tell your story. This could be an icon, illustration, or image. Explain how the visual element enhances the story. Part 2: Static Infographic(NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED) Create an infographic using Adobe Illustrator. It should have a page size of 11” x 17”, portrait or landscape. Your infographic should include a headline, an introduction, and at least three data visualizations that show your findings and represent your story. The data visualizations should be accompanied by written explanations of your findings. Refer to the Brand Style Guide, linked in the Supporting Materials section, to inform your design. The approved company logos are available in the Tech Crowd Logos folder linked in the Supporting Materials section. Note: As a best practice, designers should embed all fonts used when working in Adobe Illustrator. Since not all computers and printers have the same fonts, this ensures that the design looks exactly as intended. Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria: Write an introduction that explains the story expressed in the data. Create three data visualizations that represent the story. Export the data from your Excel data set into Adobe Illustrator to complete this step. Apply elements and principles of design to the visualizations. Include the following: Color: Use two of the four colors provided in the Brand Style Guide. Choose at least one primary color. Shades: Use varying shades, levels of transparency, or levels of opacity of your selected colors for the visualizations. Balance Proportion Emphasis Space Apply typography to the infographic. Use two of the three fonts provided in the Brand Style Guide. Apply these to your headline, introduction, and explanations for each visualization. Apply appropriate visual hierarchy to the infographic. Include the following: Positioning Size Alignment Apply at least one supporting visual element to the infographic. This could be an icon, illustration, or image. Explain the story represented in the infographic by providing an explanation of your findings for each visualization. Note: You will need to provide attribution for any icons, illustrations, or images you use in this assignment. Refer to the Openly Licensed Images area of your course for more information on how to provide attribution. What to Submit To complete this project, you must submit the following: Project Proposal Template Submit the completed Project Proposal Template for grading. Sources should be cited according to MLA style. Static Infographic This is an Adobe Illustrator file (.AI). Your completed infographic should be exported as a PDF file for submission. Sources should be cited according to MLA style. Supporting Materials The following resources will support your work on the project: Document: Brand Style Guide Use this document to complete the project. Folder: Tech Crowd Logos You can choose a logo from this ZIP folder to include in your infographic.
