You will explore and analyze food media through the lens of an anthropologist or a historian. We’ll focus on the tools of both: context and cultural analysis, chronology, ethnography, and more.
Descriiption
You will select your own food writing text, published in the last 5 years. You will construct an argumentative essay that takes your selected text and argues whether your selected text is beneficial to the genre of food writing, with special attention to whether the content of the text helps change our cultural understanding or relationship with food.
Criteria
10% Comprehensive Analysis
Student has selected an appropriate text of food writing from the last 5 years.
Student has completed appropriate research of the author, topic, and/or publication to aid in their understanding of the text.
40% Argument Development:
Student has created a clear and well-supported argument about the selected text.

Student has considered the broader implications of the selected text on the food writing genre as a whole.

Once you’ve collected all the information, you start preparing the presentation. Keep the following requirements in mind:
– The presentation should be between 5 to 10 minutes long (make sure everyone has an equal share in the presentation).
– Include all the information from the grid.
– Create a poster to visualise your presentation (e.g. Canva).
– Use the appropriate structure: introduction, body and conclusion.

“Exploring Mental Illness in Hollywood: A Scholarly Analysis of Character Portrayals in Film”
Scholarly Movie Paper Information You will be writing a scholarly movie paper which will be due on Sunday at 11:59 pm of week 8. The paper should be no less than three pages and double-spaced. You should be using your textbook for DSM-V criteria and find two supporting, evidence-based research articles to support your position. Please review the rubric for specific criteria needed in EACH section. The criteria for the paper will be as follows: For this paper, you will select and watch one of the movies listed below. Many of the products required by modern society are produced by chemical reactions through the application of science and technology. Pick a chemical reaction that an industry uses to produce a product and write a 2 page report about the reaction. Things to include in the report:
Part 1. Write a brief summary how the product is produced (1/2 page maximum). Write a balanced chemical equation for the production of the product. Be sure to include all reactants, products, states, necessary reaction conditions (ie temperature, catalysts), and a typical percent yield for the reaction.
Part 2. For each reactant and product in your chosen reaction describe what type of particle it is. (ie. metal element, nonpolar covalent, polar covalent, or ionic compound). Identify and describe the intermolecular forces that would be attracting each reactant and product particle to its neighbors.
Part 3. Pick one of the products produced in the reaction and report its melting point, boiling point, conductivity and solubility. Discuss and explain the properties of the product using your chemistry knowledge. Ex. Why does it have a high/low melting point or boiling point? Why is it soluble or insoluble? Why is it conductive or not conductive?
Part 4. Using calculations, show how you could synthesize 1 kg (actual yield) of the product you have chosen to research. This must be based on its actual percent yield that you have researched. In the production of the chemical, which reactant does the industry make the limiting reactant? Discuss why the industry would choose this reactant to be the limiting reactant.

You are expected to select reliable, current scientific sources of information to put together this report. All ideas obtained through research (including images) must be cited using the APA format shown in the High School Student Agenda, using both in-text citations and a works cited page. -
“The Imperfect Market of the US Healthcare System: Deviations from Traditional Supply and Demand Models”

In chapter 5, it opens up a discussion on how the US healthcare market deviates from a truly competitive market. You may have heard that the US has an “imperfect” market, which essentially means that the traditional law of supply and demand that a competitive market exhibits, is not always present in our healthcare system. This is further explained in the “Economics of Healthcare” chapter which was assigned to you for this weeks readings. For this discussion, state 2 or 3 of the market conditions exhibited by the US healthcare system and explain how it deviates from the traditional supply and demand models we are familiar with in a competitive market. Preferably, I would like you to use real-world examples from your clinical or personal experience(ICU nurse). This is how we learn best when we apply the concepts learned in our studies. I try to use active learning pedagogical tools whenever possible.
