Before You Start:
To prepare for this assignment, I recommend that you:
Read these directions carefully.
Read the BIOL180 Mini-Presentation Grading Criteria.pdf. The grading criteria is a detailed evaluation that I will use to assess your performance. It also will help you understand what is expected of you as you prepare your assignment.
Use your own words (paraphrase). For help with paraphrasing, please review the ‘Quoting and Paraphrasing’ help in the Trefry Library Writing@APUS Center.
Note that your Turnitin report similarity score should be under 20% (not including references) and free of paraphrasing issues. Review the color-flagged text on your report, fix any issues, and resubmit again before the deadline (this assignment is set to unlimited submissions until the deadline).
Note that less than 10% of your work should contain direct quotes.
Email me with any questions!
Assignment Instructions: The topic of your Course Project will be any one species of organism (e.g., a microorganism, plant, fungus, animal, etc.). Choose only one that interests you, as this will be the topic used for all Course Project steps and assessments throughout the term.
Keep the following in mind:
The topic of the course project will be any species native to your area or one that interests you. The organism should come from one of the four major kingdoms (Protist, Fungus, Plant, or Animal) and be indigenous to the area in which you reside. The organism should not be a domesticated pet, farm animal, houseplant, human, etc., but rather a wild species native to the local area where you live or one that you find interesting but may not be able to directly observe (e.g., great white shark). You will be researching details of your organism in the wild, not as a plant cultivar or as an animal may live as a pet or captive zoo inhabitant, as these conditions are not wild. If possible, try to select a different species than your classmates. However, it is okay if more than one classmate selects the same organism; I want you to be interested and excited about what you will be researching!
Mini-Presentation requirements:
Your presentation will be submitted as an audio-narrated PowerPoint, narrated by you, the student. You cannot use “text-to-speech” programs or technologies that do the narration for you unless noted as an approved accommodation in a current DSA letter you have furnished to me. For instructions on how to create audio narration in PowerPoint, see the following link: Record a Slide Show With Narration. Audio narration is a requirement!
Familiarize yourself with the BIOL180 Course Project Guide.pdf.
Create a 3-4-slide audio-narrated PowerPoint presentation to include the following:
A title slide with your name, date, class name, instructor name, and project topic
Content slide(s) to include:
The common and scientific name of your organism. Please see this link to help with scientific names if needed: How To Write Scientific Names of Organisms
Where you observed your organism (country, state, park, zoo, etc.)
A brief discussion on why you chose your organism
If possible, a picture and/or video of you safely observing your species in the field. If not possible, search the Internet for an image (and remember to cite your source for the image) in a typical habitat.
Reference slide for all source material and images used within the mini-presentation
[Recall that Wikipedia is not considered a credible source for our purposes and should not be used in class.]
APA in-text citation and reference formatting is optional for this assignment. However, it will be required for subsequent assignments.
*Writing Expectations: Apply scientific concepts and use scientific terminology correctly. Utilize proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Title: The Role of Nuclear Envelope Protein Mutations in Causing Laminopathies and Emery-Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy: A Review of Current Research
For this order you need to write one short paper on Nucleus
here is research question: 1.) How do mutations affecting nuclear envelope proteins contribute to diseases like laminopathies?
2.) How do mutations in the emerin nuclear protein cause Emery-Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy?
But this paper has multiple mini-examples: First, you have to select the primary and review article, then need to make paper outline. so this paper is due step by step but it’s only one short paper.
I will send you that step by step when it will come. I have done 1st part. I am going to attach the part 2 here, I will attach more as we go through.
I also attached schedule to make it more clear. -

“The Changing Landscape of Bioethics: Trends and Emerging Issues in Human Gene Editing”
Hello everyone. Please read the instructions carefully. I will put my professor’s instruction down below :
“you will summarize a scientific article and associated graph/chart or table showing changing trends, emerging issues or laws related to your bioethics issue. EG, is this increasing or decreasing as a problem? Are solutions on the horizon? Is awareness on the upswing? Is it speading to new groups? New variants? New treatments? New laws? New media coverage? Try to keep to RECENT articles so the info you share is CURRENT!!
make sure your article includes a graph, chart, or table that clearly illustrates the findings of the article. Please describe what the big ticket items are in the graph to demonstrate that you have processed the data therein. This week, embed a screenshot of the front page of the article including the full abstract as well as the graphical into PowerPoint and record a narration of your explanation”
I have already found an article that I would like to have presented in Powerpoints.
this is the link to the article :

“Exploring the Microbe and Its Disease: A Comprehensive Analysis” Title: The Effects of Social Media on Mental Health: A Comprehensive Analysis
Introduction
This assignment aims to facilitate an in-depth exploration of a specific microbe and the disease it causes. By conducting independent research into the microbe and its associated disease, you will enhance your comprehension of clinical medicine, diagnostic methodologies, patient-physician dynamics, and the interplay between microbes, hosts, and the environment.
Poster Organization
Your final poster submission will be in digital format on Moodle. The materials will be presented as poster, organized into the following sections:
1. Title On the first slide, include the title, your name, course details, term, course number, department, and university in a banner format.
2. Abstract Summarize the key points of your presentation in a single paragraph.
3. The Microbe Describe the microbe’s characteristics and biology. Discuss its appearance, environmental distribution, and provide a brief history of its discovery. Highlight essential virulence and pathogenicity mechanisms driving disease progression.
4. The Disease Detail the disease’s transmission methods, symptomatology, and temporal progression. Identify key distinguishing symptoms and possible differential diagnoses. Highlight any unusual features or sequelae.
5. Epidemiology Explore disease transmission routes, inter-host survival, incidence, prevalence, and any involvement of animal or insect vectors. Investigate its impact on other species.
6. Clinical Identification and Treatment Examine diagnostic methods, laboratory identification techniques, and relevant tests. Discuss current treatment options and noteworthy clinical aspects.
7. Social Implications and Current Research Choose one of two options: a) Highlight a Non-Governmental Organization contributing to disease management, providing their website and your insights on their efforts. b) Discuss historical and present-day relevance of the disease, touching on moral or ethical concerns revealed by your research. Also, present a contemporary research direction related to the disease.
8. References Include at least 5 textual references. Of these, a minimum of three must be from 2018 or later, while the remaining two should be from 2013 or later. At least two references must be substantial research, clinical, or review articles from peer-reviewed journals.
Additional Guidelines:
– Sources beyond your references may be drawn from specified websites such as www.cdc.gov, www.nih.gov, etc., or other relevant books, articles, newspapers, and magazines.
– Avoid citing general encyclopedias, dictionaries, or religious texts in your poster’s main text.
