  • “Case Study Analysis: Identifying and Prioritizing Key Issues and Formulating Treatment Recommendations” Client Concerns Symptoms Behaviors Stressors Sadness Fatigue Parents’ divorce Trouble sleeping No appetite Hopelessness Assessment Title: Considerations for Treating a Client with Religious/Spiritual Beliefs and Trauma History Symptoms/Issues Involved: 1. Trauma/threats to well-being 2. Spiritual/religious beliefs and practices Treatment

you will have the opportunity to think through a clinical case, identify and prioritize key issues involved, consider and clarify relevant diagnostic issues, provide one assessment to clarify the case, and formulate treatment recommendations that are most likely to be helpful to the client.
For this assignment you will read the case study then generate a report that uses the following outline. Each section should be separated by the appropriate APA headings (Level 1, Level 2…).
    Client Concerns
    Symptoms
    Behaviors
    Stressors
    (Examples) Sadness
    Trouble sleeping
    Parents’ divorce
    Fatigue
    No appetite
    Hopelessness
Client Concerns: Using a table as in the example above, identify and list the client’s symptoms and any other key issues/concerns noted. (Modify the chart size as needed.) For example, these may include biological, psychological, social, and/or spiritual problems. If symptoms/behaviors overlap, you only need to list them once.
    Assessment
Provide one assessment that will be used to clarify the diagnosis — a valid assessment that a counselor can use. Give a short (3-5 sentences) overview of the assessment, what it would help you learn about the client, and why you chose it over other assessments (for example: Beck Depression Inventory: identifies clinical depression, strong research base, short, easy to administer and score). Provide one peer-reviewed journal article reference to support the use of this assessment.
    Diagnostic Impression
Provide the primary diagnostic impression based upon the DSM-5-TR. Include the ICD-10 code and full name of each diagnosis. Be sure to consider secondary disorders in addition to the primary disorder. Is there more than one diagnosis? Provide the following for all diagnoses.
    Signs and Symptoms
List the signs (client’s report) and link them directly to the symptoms (criteria you find in the DSM-5-TR) in table form (example below) to make sure you have linked every client sign to every DSM-5-TR symptom you will use to support the diagnosis. Be sure to adjust the size of the table accordingly. If there are client reported signs that do not fall into the DSM-5-TR diagnosis, make note that you considered them, but they did not align with the DSM-5-TR.
DSM-5-TR Diagnostic Criteria: disorder name and code number
    Client’s Signs/Reported Symptoms:
    Criterion A:
    Criterion B:
    Criterion C:
    Criterion D:
    Criterion E:
    Criterion F:
    Other DSM-5-TR Conditions Considered
List symptoms of other disorders and other DSM-5-TR diagnoses you considered and the process you went through to decide they were not the correct diagnosis. For example: “The client reported three symptoms of Major Depressive Disorder (insomnia, depressed mood, and trouble concentrating), but five symptoms are needed for this diagnosis, so the disorder was ruled out.”
    Developmental Theories and/or Systemic Factors
Discuss theories of normal and abnormal development and/or systemic and environmental factors that affect human development, functioning, and behavior. For example, consider questions such as “What Erikson stage is the client in?” or “What is occurring within the client’s family system that may be influencing the client’s current functioning or behavior?” Provide one peer-reviewed journal article reference to support your discussion.
    Multicultural and/or Social Justice Considerations
Using the RESPECTFUL model acronym (below), choose at least one of the client’s identities and discuss multicultural or social justice considerations that went into your diagnostic thought process. The case study may or may not explicitly discuss each of these; based on what is known about the client, explore how this identity may influence their lived experience. For example, what would the client say about their symptoms/situation from their cultural point of view? Is/Could the client be experiencing concerns related to discrimination, marginalization, oppression, etc.? Provide one peer-reviewed journal article reference to support your discussion.
    Religious/spiritual
    Economic class background
    Sexual (and/or gender) identity
    Psychological maturity
    Ethnic/racial identity
    Chronological/developmental challenges
    Trauma/threats to well-being
    Family background/history
    Unique physical characteristics
    Location/language differences
    Treatment Recommendations
    Key Issues for Treatment
    • In bullet point form, identify the top 2-3 symptoms/issues you believe are involved in the case study, in order of importance.
    • The goal here is to clearly delineate what you believe will be of the most help to your client.
For each case study you will have one specific consideration. You will need to provide one paragraph responding to the questions that correspond with each case study. In your response to these questions, address how these considerations affected your diagnostic impression and your treatment recommendations. Provide one peer-reviewed journal article reference to support your discussion.

  • DSM-5-TR Summaries: Third Assignment

    Overview
Throughout your career as a counselor, you will be required to assess and diagnose clients. To engage in this practice in a competent manner, you will need to have a good working knowledge of the DSM-5-TR including the general categories and the specific disorders that are contained in each category. This DSM-5-TR Summaries Assignment will introduce you to the more common categories that you will encounter as a counselor.
    Instructions
You will have four sets of summaries to complete, each due during a different Module: Week. Each set will contain a 1-page summary of each of the following categories of disorders:
Summary Set 3, DSM-5-TR Summaries: Third Assignment (choose 3 categories from this list; 1 page per category=3 pages of content):
    • Personality Disorders
    • Somatic Symptoms
    • Neurodevelopmental • Schizophrenia Spectrum
You will write a one-page summary for EACH category. Summaries must include:
Overview – a brief overview of the general category.  In one or two sentences, identify the characteristic(s) that all the disorders in the category share. (Example: in the Depressive disorders, all the disorders are characterized by feelings of sadness.)
Disorders – For each disorder in the category, write one or two sentences that provide a brief description of the disorder. In the Overview, you noticed what is similar across the disorders in the category; in the Disorders section, you will identify the main feature of each disorder that distinguishes it from the rest of the category (e.g., time frames, severity, types of symptoms, etc.)
Risk and Prognostic Factors – Choose one disorder from each category and provide a brief summary of the risk and prognostic factors as found in the DSM-5-TR. You will organize each summary by using the current edition of APA headings. Start each summary with the category title using a Level 1 APA heading. Overview, Disorders and Risk and Prognostic Factors should be Level 2 headings. As this is primarily a summary of the DSM, you may start your DSM-5-TR Summaries Assignment paper with the statement “All of the following information was taken from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5th Edition, Text Revision (American Psychiatric Association, 2022) unless otherwise noted.” When including this statement, you do not need to use in-text citations for the DSM-5-TR. Using other sources is not recommended; however, if you use additional sources, you will need to cite and reference them.
This DSM-5-TR Summaries Assignment must be a paraphrase of the information you find in the DSM-5-TR or your textbook. You may not use any quotations.

  • Guidelines for Professional and Effective Video Discussion Posts

write in a way I can read for a discussion post.
Your classmates and instructor will be viewing your video. Here are some guidelines to ensure that you are providing the best possible impression:
1.Keep in mind that although not in the traditional classroom setting, you are in a professional, academic environment. Attire, language, and the content of the discussion must be kept within the Student Expectations and the Liberty Way.
2.Minimize distractions for yourself and your viewers. If possible, record in an area where pets, family members, media, etc., will not be heard or seen in the background.
3.Gather and organize your thoughts before beginning your recording. Doing so will help ensure that you are staying on topic and will allow your viewers to provide substantial responses (if applicable).
4.If needed, write down your thoughts to help you create a smooth presentation; however, be certain that you are not simply reading from your notes. This is an opportunity to contribute to the discussion and to demonstrate what you have learned.
