  • Module 1 Self Reflection: Social Stratification and Mobility in the United States

    Students will write a self reflection for each module. Self Refelctions will be a minimum of 600 words and include all elements of the module. Please refer to the modules link for a list of all materials for that module. Readings can be found under the readings link. Videos can be found in the module itself,
    All assignments will be submitted to D2L and grades will be assigned there.
    Each module will include:
    1-2 lecture videos
    Readings
    Videos
    Self reflections should be a critical analysis of the materials in the module. They should include the following:
    Self reflection need to include all of the materials in the module focusing on at least two (2) key ideas learned in the module and a clear explanation of their application to the module materials. This reflection should indicate an understanding of the concepts (not just a definition) and how they are identified in the materials for the module.
    State the concept(s)
    Explain how the concept is exemplified in the reading by using examples, direct quotes.
    Self-reflection on how these concepts impact on your life. (I statements are essential).
    Use the following headings to organize your reflection

    Video lecture
    Readings
    Video links
    Self reflection
    Use bold to indicate the readings and videos you are referencing. 
    Do not tell us whether you did or did not like the reading (this is not a Yelp review). Also unsupported opinions that are critical of the material will lose you points. Back up your opinions with facts and references from academic sources. Inclusion of current events is encouraged. All comments and reflections must meet the basic requirements for civil discourse.
