Introduction Paragraph
Include a thesis statement that provides your position about going to college, trades school, or starting a career after graduating high school.
Remember that a paragraph is a minimum of 3-5 clear and well-developed sentences.

Body of the Essay
Write a minimum of 5-7 paragraphs for this section. 
Include one claim to support your thesis statement for each paragraph. 
Use at least three of the sources provided to you on the Argumentative Writing Skills page. 
Include quotes or paraphrases from one of your sources followed by an in-text citation for each paragraph. 
Provide a source for at least one counterargument and explain why the counterargument is not valid. 
Remember when including quotes from a source, try to keep this to 1 sentence within a body paragraph. 
Remember that a paragraph is typically a minimum of 3-5 sentences.  
Conclusion Paragraph
Restate the position you provided in your thesis statement.
Write at least 3 sentences that summarize the claims you made in your body paragraphs.

Overview
The purpose of this assignment is for the learners to see how their peers view their teaching proficiency. Colleagues can be a valuable source of information in terms of a learner’s ability to receive feedback on what is actually happening in his or her classroom. Students experience adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) or traumatic events across the country every day, in their homes, schools, and through media. Trauma can come in many forms including school shootings, lockdowns, abuse, death, evacuation, bullying, divorce, family separation, etc. An important aspect of classroom management is to know how to prepare for trauma and deal with the effects it has on student learning and behaviors. Teachers must create a safe, inclusive, and equitable classroom that is proactive in supporting and providing resources when trauma is disclosed.
For this assignment, research an ACE and reflect on how that experience or event could affect student learning. With the specific experience or event in mind and the lens of advocacy, consider what must be done to create a safe classroom space for students. Create a 4-6 minute TedTalk style video to advocate for creating trauma-informed classrooms that support students. In your video include the following:
Explain the importance of creating an inclusive and equitable classroom environment that considers ACEs and trauma.
Discuss how the experience or event can affect student learning, motivation, and behaviors.
Provide 2-3 suggestions for creating a safe classroom environment that supports the specific type of trauma.

Show professionalism in your speech and appearance.

Brief Research Paper Relying on the outcome of your consultation experience (Assignment 1), conduct a literature review on the topic of the proposed dissertation. Students will review at least 10 research articles on the chosen topic and write a 10-12 page paper reviewing the research reviewed. Articles chosen should be journal articles (published within the last 10 years) from peer-reviewed journals and should be research articles, not reviews. Papers should review not just the content of the research studies but also the quality of the research itself. Information should be synthesized to evaluate the effectiveness of the model/theory/approach addressed and should not just summarize each article independently.
