GRANT PROJECT: PROJECT DESCRIPTION ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
The Project Description is often the bulkiest part of the grant proposal and requires a great deal
of thought, planning, and purposeful writing. The Project Description outlines the major steps
you want to accomplish for your project, and make up the key components of the project,
showing the flow of activity from beginning to end. The first step is to write a goal with a series
of objectives to solve “the problem” you identified in the “Statement of Need”. A goal is a broad
and timeless statement about the long-term expectation as a result of your program. An example
of a goal statement: to improve the quality of life for mothers and infants in the Washington, DC
area. Objectives describe the results to be achieved; measurable steps that contribute to the goal.
When developing objectives, they need to be chronologically ordered and specific. Objectives
should be SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound) and represent a
combination of behavioral, performance, process and product objectives are recommended.
An example of an objective that would align with the goal above: to decrease the maternal
mortality rate among African-American mothers in Washington, DC by 20% within 5 years. As a
general rule of thumb, there are usually three objectives for each goal. In addition to developing
objectives, each objective should have multiple strategies and each strategy, multiple activities.
This is why it is important to focus on one problem/need. A timeline is also included as a
roadmap for when each activity will be accomplished. It is important to give thought to the
sequencing of activities so that the program is realistic and achievable. I suggest creating no
more than one or two goals for this proposal.
INSTRUCTIONS
For the project description, create no more than one or two goals, followed by 3-5 objectives in
total that are measurable. Then based on the project goal and objectives, you need to identify and
explain the activities to implement your organization’s “solution” based on your strategies. Be
sure your activity description is comprehensive. For example, if you plan to hire new staff, think
through all the issues to get this process done [e.g. advertisement, interviews, background
checks, references check, etc…] and the time it would take to complete the hiring process. Focus
your thoughts. The textbook provides a very good example. Include a timeline table in your
project description. You can use a Gantt Chart or similar table illustrated in the textbook. It
serves as a valuable planning function.
• Length of the assignment: This section will be the longest part of your grant proposal.
A title page and reference page should also be included.
• Format of Assignment: Use current APA style.
• Number of Citations: Use at least 1 supplementary source.
• Acceptable Sources: Use current data and references published within the last 5 years.

For this project creative writing is needed. I choose CHKD a childrens hospital. Grant proposal is to build a new hospital to give patients a closer option as the only main hospital could be considered a long drive for some people. Idea to increase the overall quality of care aand accessiblity

Op-Ed Assignment criteria:

Like a Magazine. Casual, exciting to read, not
traditional academic.

Do not start with “this paper will…”, start with
a catchy opening sentence/topic

Pick a topic on health informatics aka -cyber
security, AI (generative, machine learning). Different ways informatics is used
in health care like virtual care or social media (Digital technology). Electronic
health record (Interoperability, platforms for multiple care settings… as a
user, what data collected?). Social issues, politics.. Often done for advocacy for
your position and gain attention from the public.

Pick a health care problem/issue from the lens
of health informatics.
–      
Can look at it from a specific perspective like EHR
or general like health media/how getting info across over media (example like
podcast usage).
–      
Take a stance and reflect your views accordingly.
–      
Write a short article in the style of editorial,
more conversational, still provide references and cite it (in text and at the
end).
–      
Shouldn’t look like a traditional academic paper
–      
Add a byline at the end— Zunaira Zaman,
Masters in nursing student, working as a supervisor in home care, history of
work in various settings, interested in/passionate about/advocate for…  (I can also just edit this part accordingly to
personalize it to myself).

Imagine that you are a project manager with a large hospital. You are responsible for facilitating the selection of a new healthcare information system. You are asked to preview the Epic EHR, Allscripts MyWay EMR, and Waiting Room Solutions demos.
Explore all of the product modules and functions, such as the user-friendliness (interface and ease of use), patient search functionality, release of information and retrieval, record tracking, web-based standards, internet and intranet use, regulatory requirements, etc.
Create a comparison table or matrix for the various functions.
In a 2-3 page paper, provide an assessment and explanation of how product features would or would not potentially support interoperability and basic integration standards.
Provide a recommendation for a new healthcare information system based on your assessment of each product.
Your paper should be in APA format.

Instructions:
As a health informatics consultant, you have been asked to research clinical decision support (CDS) tools for a local health organization. With the Advancing Care Information Program and the increasing need to provide increased care value, the appropriate use of CDS is an institutional priority. The current CDS available at the institution consists primarily of off-the-shelf drug interaction and drug-allergy alerting, which is the source of significant clinician complaints due to the rate of false-positive alerts.
You have been asked to evaluate the current system and devise a strategic plan for CDS for the organization. You will create a presentation that covers the following criteria:
Introduction & Objectives
Identify the key evaluation question for this project.
Describe the stakeholders.
Identify & Describe CDS Tools.
Describe the benefits of using CDS and how it supports decision making.
Describe the approaches you would use to ensure that all aspects of patient care were considered when developing a CDS system.
Discuss how you would prioritize the efforts of your CDS team.
What theory is most appropriate; why? (Change theory, system theory, information theory and learning theory)
Requirements
Your presentation should be 10 content slides and be in your own words.
You should include at least five peer-reviewed sources.
Your presentation should be in APA format.
You will present your presentation using Screencast-O-Matic, YouTube, Screencastify or similar applications.
Your presentation should be no longer than 10 minutes.
