Ethical Considerations in Hiring Foreign-Trained Medical Providers from LICs to HICs Hiring foreign-trained medical providers from low-income countries (LICs) to high-income countries (HICs) raises a number of ethical considerations
Using the week 3 reading (link below) as a starting point, what ethical components exist in hiring a foreign trained medical provider? This question is specific to hiring from LICs to HICs and can include, but is not limited to, nursing. While you are invited to share your own experiences and perspectives, this is a sensitive topic. When “you” is referred to, this can be from your research, what other organizations do that you have noticed, etc.
When hiring a a healthcare worker from an LIC to an HIC, to what extent are the originating country’s healthcare needs considered? If that worker is coming from an LIC, does that automatically mean they are not trained as well and require further educational or regulatory hurdles? Who pays for those hurdles?Or is that deducted from their income? Do LICs have some responsibility for letting their talent go? Or do they then rely on NGOs? Do HICs have any responsibility?
Please use this week’s reading as a start it, and 3-4 other sources, should be referenced in your initial post. 5-6 paragraphs total. Initial post and 2 follow-up posts due Wednesday May 22. 15 points.

Title: “Exploring the Effectiveness of Telehealth and In-Person Services on No-Show and Cancellation Rates for Post-Surgical Arthroplasty Patients: A Literature Search and Synthesis”
PICOT
question:
For physical
therapy staff caring for patients with post-surgical arthroplasty(P), how does
the combination of implementation of telehealth plus in-person services (I)
compared to current practice (C) affect the no-show and cancelation rates (O)
over 12 weeks(T)?
Complete this
assessment in three steps.
Step
1: Develop and Execute an Appropriate Search Strategy.
Write a
detailed, 2–3-page description of an appropriate literature search strategy.
Then, use that strategy to locate a minimum of 20 scholarly sources, published
within the last five years (unless seminal, practice guideline, or consensus
statement), addressing your PICOT question. You may need to find additional
sources if you do not have at least two sources that address the same main
theme (see Step 3). You may find it helpful to view the media presentation
Forming a Search Strategy, linked in the courseroom navigation menu.
Note: In
Assessment 2 you will have the opportunity to refine your search strategy based
on faculty feedback and on lessons learned executing your strategy in this
assessment.
Step
2: Document and Analyze the Evidence.
Analyzing
the evidence you have gathered in a literature search is necessary to develop a
coherent synthesis of your findings. Use the Evidence Table [XLSX] Download Evidence Table [XLSX]template
to help you document and analyze the source materials you have located for this
assessment.
Step
3: Identify Main Themes in the Literature.
Organizing
your evidence by main themes or ideas addressed in each source will help you
identify commonalities and differences in research questions, methodologies,
and findings, and gaps in the research. Sort your evidence using the Main Themes Table [XLSX] Download Main Themes Table [XLSX]and
locate additional sources if you do not have at least two sources that address
the same main theme.
The following
requirements correspond to scoring grading criteria, so be sure to address each
point. Read the performance-level descriptions for each criterion to see how
your work will be assessed.
Describe an appropriate literature
search strategy.
Include search terms, medical
subject headings (MeSH), hand searches, the number of pieces found,
inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the number of pieces retained and
why.
Consider a search strategy that
extends beyond published studies, which may include systematic reviews,
government publications and, as applicable, dissertations or thesis
reports, also known as gray material.
Limit your search to sources
published within the last five years. Sources older than five years
should only be included in your literature synthesis if they are
influential or clearly valuable and professionally relevant to your
project.
Analyze the literature addressing
your PICOT question.
You will accomplish this task by
using the evidence table.
Organize the literature by main
themes.
You will accomplish this task by
completing the main themes table.
Look for points of synthesis among
sources related to a particular theme.
Consider supporting and opposing
points of view.
Write clearly and concisely in a
logically coherent and appropriate form and style.
Write with a specific purpose and
audience in mind.
Adhere to scholarly and
disciplinary writing standards.
Proofread your writing to minimize
errors that could distract readers and make it difficult for them to
focus on the substance of your literature synthesis.
