This paper requires a bibliography with a minimum of two peer-reviewed sources to back your argument. These sources must be scholarly (peer-reviewed), humanities-focused, secondary sources. This includes books, monographs, chapters from edited anthologies, and articles from peer-reviewed humanities journals (such as the kind you would find on JSTOR). In other words, you should avoid sources like wikipedia, newspaper or magazine articles, or non-peer reviewed internet pages and blogs. You’re more than welcome to cite whatever helps you make your argument, including the examination of primary sources (i.e., artist’s statements, historical documents, etc.), but to meet the minimum threshold for the bibliography requirement, you must have a minimum of two scholarly (peer-reviewed), humanities-focused, secondary sources.

“Revamping a Research Paper: Strengthening Content, Organization, and Academic Language”
I have this research paper that I need due before the period tomorrow. It’s been written out, and its my first one therefore Im struggling and the teacher provided feedbacks to which I need to rewrite the WHOLE thing. To earn the points that I’ve lost I need to fix the things he point out. Basically this isn’t a research paper, he says. I need to have citations in correct format because I don’t cite my facts. I need to provide facts and not opinion statement and cite off that. I need citations in paper on work cited page (so on…) and my introduction and topic sentence and everything else like transition is not smooth. it’s not organized in other words. I also need more academic language, and strong depth of content. I also cannot tie back to today and must stay in historical time period of my research paper. He also points out some of these don’t make sense and some are irrelavent in this paper. I also need specific facts and keep tying it back to claim. He wants me to prove and have paragraphs to support my topic. Must elaborate. “THis is not a research paper. Back your claim up with specific facts. more academic langauge and stay in the time period.” Do you think you can help me rewrite? I feel like half of these pages are uneeded because they’re just put there for the sake of it. I will share you my rough draft where I’ve named every part out for you to know easier and see if you can work based on that.

“The Lasting Impact of the Civil Rights Movement on the Development of the United States” Title: The Impact of Climate Change on Americans in 2024 and Beyond
Choose a person, an event, a social movement, or an idea that we studied in HIST-121 that you believe had the most significant impact on the development of the United States, today. Make an argument for your topic’s importance. Contextualize: who or what is your topic? Why was your topic important to Americans in its time of prevalence? In what ways do conditions that exist in the nation today reflect the lasting influence of this person, event, social movement, or idea? How does your chosen topic impact Americans, today? How do you believe your topic will continue to impact the nation going forward, over the next fifty years? Please directly quote at least two primary sources assigned within this semester, as well as the textbook/Class Guide, to support your answer.
What I will be looking for:
A thesis statement.
This should answer ALL parts of the final essay prompt in 1-3 sentences. BE SPECIFIC! This should be an argument–do not be afraid to take a stance.
Underline your thesis statement!!!!!
Your thesis statement should appear at the end of your first paragraph, and no where else!
Here is an example thesis statement: “This specific event (name of the event, person, movement, or idea) was crucial for Americans, today, as it transformed the social (or political or economic) stance of the nation, evident in example a, example b, and example c.” BE SPECIFIC!
Three direct quotes to support your argument.
Quotes need to come from at least two different primary sources, as well as at least one quote from the textbook or class guide.
DO NOT CONSULT OUTSIDE SOURCES UNLESS APPROVED BY THE INSTRUCTOR.
Explicitly answer all questions listed in the prompt above.
In what ways do conditions that exist in the nation today reflect the lasting influence of this person, event, social movement, or idea?
How does your chosen topic impact Americans, today?
How will your topic continue to impact the nation?
Be clear – start your sentences throughout your body paragraphs with “(My topic) impacts Americans in 2024, evident in…”
Be specific and thorough!
Organization and presentation.
A clear beginning, middle, and end. Clear connections between ideas. Use transitions. Context and analysis around quotes.
Your body paragraphs relate back and prove your thesis statement.
I strongly recommend following the “Suggested Essay Organization,” listed below.
Double-spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman font, with a header and title – not “Final Essay”!
3-5 pages.
Some type of citations – just be consistent and accurate.
Proofread your essay – preferably out loud – to spot small errors in grammar and spelling.
Remember – you can 100% use one of the ideas/quotes you talked about in your Discussion #11 (as well as any quotes you get in the replies from your classmates) if you want to!
Suggested Essay Organization – (do it this way)
Paragraph 1:
A strong introduction – a few sentences that offer a taste of background information that contextualizes who or what your essay is about.
A thesis statement – a strong, provable, specific argument that takes a stance and directly answers one or more questions listed in the final essay prompt. Your thesis statement should appear at the end of your first paragraph, and no where else! Underline your thesis statement.
Paragraph 2:
Background information – who or what is your topic? How, and under what circumstances, did this individual, movement, idea, system, etc, come to serve the American people? Why is your topic important? Describe and introduce your topic thoroughly – to someone who is not a member of our class. Always connect back to your thesis statement – prove yourself!
A quote from 1 source assigned within the semester – either the textbook or one of your chosen primary sources – that supports what you are describing. Plus, analysis in your own words.
Paragraph 3:
Answer – In what ways do conditions that exist in the nation today reflect the lasting influence of this person, event, social movement, or idea? Explain the cause and effect of your chosen topic. Be specific!
A quote from a second source assigned within the semester – either the textbook or another primary source – that supports what you are describing. Plus, analysis in your own words.
Paragraph 4:
Answer – How does your chosen topic impact Americans in 2024? Be specific! Are all Americans impacted? Certain regions of the country? A certain gender? Will your topic impact Americans going forward?
Another quote from one of your chosen assigned sources – either the textbook or a primary source (3 sources total) – that supports what you are describing. Plus, analysis in your own words.
Paragraph 5:
Conclude – Reiterate your main argument, recap your evidence, and conclude your essay. -

“Revolutionizing Photography: A Historical Analysis of Portable Camera Technologies in the 20th Century”
Read the research paper promt and term paper proposal which I uploaded as pdf files.
Also, read the feedback below. You have to choose specific era and camera technologies to write in more detail because the first topic which I write is so broad and it is 10 pages research paper.
Feedback about proposal paper from TA: I think this is an interesting topic, and I appreciate the research you have done so far. However, I’d like to highlight and restate some important issues that I have mentioned in texts, and you’ll need to address them in your final paper: 1. In terms of the topic, the main issue would be that this is a very ambitious project, and the topic is too broad. You really need to narrow it down to a manageable scale for your final paper. The focus is super vague right now, and you need to choose one specific period and maybe do a case study of one kind of the portable camera. 2. In terms of the historical questions, I don’t really see explicit historical questions in your paper. The paper feels more like a summary of the camera development instead of an archive-based research. You need to narrow down your topics and find your historical questions first. 3. In terms of the sources, this is the biggest issue in your proposal. I didn’t see any primary sources you’ve found. Without the archive in hand, it’s very hard for you to narrow down your topic. 4. In terms of the analysis, since you don’t really have the sources in your paper, there’s not much analysis of the sources. 5. You also need to input proper citations with the correct format. You don’t have to revise your proposal, but please do show significant changes and advancements in your final paper.
you can use outside sources. -
“The Unchecked Power of Mao Zedong and Xi Jinping: Examining the Role of the Communist Party and its Consequences on Human Rights”
Need to write a research paper on Mao Zedong and Xi Jingping and how their absolute power. Need to discuss how the role of the communist party (and how it leads to unchecked power both in form but also because citizens can only vote for CCP member). Need to discuss the consequences of this lack of checks and balances in particular there are lots of human rights issues under Xi (there is a human rights report that can be cited). They basically have a lust for power and no regard for the interests of the people.

“Exploring the Dynamics of Medieval Europe: A Comparative Analysis of Key Themes and Events” “Avoiding Anachronisms: Maintaining Clarity and Organization in Writing”
Assignment Instructions: You may use only materials found in the assigned readings on the course site. Please see the rubric for specifics about how your essay will be evaluated. The format is exactly the same as the one used in the unit essay assignments during the semester. Make sure to fully answer each question you choose.
Compose a separate essay (1000 words minimum each) on two (2) of the questions below.
1. Why were some “barbarians” more successful in creating enduring kingdoms than others in early medieval Europe from the 5th to the 10th centuries? What were the most lasting consequences of both the successes and failures of “barbarian” rule in these various places during this period?
2. Compare and contrast what it meant to be Christian in the 5th, 10th, and 15th centuries C.E. Analyze in terms of the beliefs and practices of the major groups, including the Church and its clergy, that made up medieval European society during each of these periods. 3. The movement of people is a recurring theme in medieval history. Identify the main phases of these movements from the 3rd to the 15th centuries. Compare and contrast their forms, motives, and impacts, analyzing what they had in common and how they differed as Europe evolved during the Middle Ages. 4. Analyze the status of women as it evolved in medieval society from late Antiquity up to the Renaissance and the kinds of attitudes expressed about them and their behavior. What changed most and what remained the most unchanged? What avenues, if any, existed over time for medieval women to realize more expression and control over their lives? 5. As Roman and then early European society became more Christian, so it increasingly became what one recent historian has described as a “persecuting society” during the Middle Ages, especially after the 11th century. Does the evidence we’ve considered this semester in our readings support this claim or not? Consider in terms of evolving forms of persecution, its scale and duration, why certain groups were targeted, and what attempts, if any, were made to prevent or mitigate its effects. 6. Periods of rising insecurity punctuate the history of medieval Europe from the 3rd century C.E. to the 14th century. Compare and contrast the major periods of insecurity and instability that occurred during the Middle Ages as well as their ensuing recoveries. What accounts for their similarities and differences? Ask yourself these questions before you submit your essay. They all reflect what’s in the rubric and on the discussion boards. These are what I look for as I evaluate your essay. Watch the video on rewrites for more on all this. Hope it helps!
1. Do I open with an introduction that lays out all the parts of the question and situates the topic in historical context? 2. Do I address each part of the question using only the images and primary sources provided on the course site and in our textbook? Don’t use outside materials!
3. Do I use paragraphs to group together at least two sources/images to support each of my main points as I address each part of the question? Three is even better!
4. Do I identify each image and source’s point of view? Who wrote it? When? Audience and purpose? Kind of document? Don’t just number the source!
5. Do I analyze how the sources relate to the question or do I simply just describe them with little reference back to the question?
6. Do I make sweeping generalizations and use anachronisms*? Or instead do I limit my analysis to what the evidence supports and keep focused on the historical context?
7. Do I address change over time in my analysis? Do I use the textbook to connect my essay to relevant historical trends?
8. Do the sections of my essay buiild one to the next? How does the point I just made in one paragraph lead to the next one I plan to make?
9. Do I close with a conclusion that sums up the main takeaways of the essay, including change over time?
10. Did I proofread my essay to correct errors and improve its clarity and organization?
* An anachronism is a chronological inconsistency in some arrangement, especially a juxtaposition of people, events, objects, language terms and customs from different time periods. Anything that is out of its historical time and place is an anachronism. A common example is to apply standards and norms from today that were different from those in the past, to say, for example, that people have always wanted to be equal or that women have always worked in the home. Those are both sweeping generalizations and anachronistic. -
Gender and Memory in the Mexican Revolution: Examining the Shifting Representations of Amelio Robles
Answer the following questions, based on the Week 14 course materials (lecture/powerpoint, discussion, Cano’s article from the Week 14 Reading page):
Contextualize women’s roles during the Mexican Revolution. How did a woman’s social position (race, class, etc.) influence her range of possible actions during the time? How or why did the Mexican Revolution both highlight traditional gender roles as well as provide possibilities to challenge them?
HOW do we as historians know what we know about women’s roles during the Mexican Revolution? Choose at least TWO sources from this week’s course materials (lecture, discussion, Cano’s article) and explain HOW these sources help us study the history of women during the Mexican Revolution. What can we learn directly from studying such sources?
How do the life and historical representations of Amelio Robles emphasize the process of remembering the Mexican Revolution? Describe the two main “versions” of his life as portrayed in Cano’s article. Why does Cano say he has been remembered in such dramatically different ways? Make sure you incorporate and analyze a direct quotation from Cano’s article as support for your claim in this paragraph.
Tip: start each paragraph with a topic sentence that answers the question, use the rest of the paragraph to analyze evidence to support your point.
You will need to incorporate evidence from lecture/discussion as well as Cano’s article.
When you quote any source, the next sentence should follow up with your analysis/explanation of the historical significance of the quotation. (This quotation shows…)
To cite sources: when you quote something or give information from the article put the author’s last name and page number in parenthesis at the end of your sentence. Examples:
“Quotation.” (Cano 180)
Sentence with a piece of information from the source. (Cano 185) OR (Class discussion, April 25) OR (Lecture, April 23)
Citations are essential! A citation shows that you have support for your own claims AND what sources have influenced your ideas. You need to give a citation for direct quotations AND for paraphrases of ideas. You will likely have multiple citations in each paragraph.
Grading
Complete answers will have at least THREE paragraphs, one for each of the sets of questions given above. You must incorporate lecture/discussion citations as well as quotation/reference to Cano’s article.
Responses without appropriate quotations AND citations will earn half credit or less.
You will be graded on the quality of your answers and how well you incorporate required course material. See the attached rubric. You must submit your response by Sunday, April 28, by 11:59 pm.

Revised Midterm Essay and Email Draft with Class Module Sources Title: “The Labor Question: Three Social Movements and Their Impact on Economic and Political Solutions, 1870s-1945”
hello I received a 0/120 on this midterm because a writer here plagiarized and did not understand the assignment. I need a complete revised essay with the info asked from the professor. I will add the info to access the modules. I will also need a email drafted to send to the professor to insure him that I did not plagiarize but only misunderstood the instructions. I need it revised with class module sources.
you will see two essay questions from the list below. Write one essay in response to one of those two questions.
To prepare, think about ways to use examples from the readings (digital documents and books), videos, images, and music, and lectures for answering the below questions. Your essay needs to cover the time period from the 1870s to 1945. 1 recommend preparing outlines for 3 of the questions before you open the exam. That way, statistically, you will be prepared for the exam no matter which questions I select.
The essay must be a standard essay with an introduction with a clear argument, paragraphs with examples and analysis and points that support your argument, and a conclusion (see rubric below). The essay must fully and directly answer the question and use specific course materials, especially readings, to support your claims. Exact quotes are not expected, but if you do use the words and ideas of someone else, you need to cite your sources. Citations can look like this: (Zinn, 455) or (Keller Anti-War Statement). And, of course, the essays must be your own work.
Plagiarism, cheating, Al generated responses, or other forms of academic dishonesty will generate an F for the assignment and disciplinary action.
Stay away from internet sources and only use course materials.
To fully answer the question you select, you should include specific examples from the entire time period for the midterm: 1870s to 1945. If you break up that time period into 3 sections, each with its own paragraphs and examples, in your essay, it will be easier. For the essay topics, three sections like this will work well.
18705-1918
1918-1929
1929-1945
On the day you take your exam, you will be submitting your essay twice. First, paste/write your essay into the timed midterm quiz-this is the essay I will grade. BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR WORK! You must also paste your completed essay (or upload a file of your essay) into the midterm assignment link. Upload your essay either as regular text or a Microsoft Word file. If you use Apple Pages or Google Docs, please convert your file into a Word file. Do not submit a Google Doc link. The hyperlinks for both submissions will be linked above.

see questions below:
1) George Sanchez examines the lives of Mexican immigrants in Los Angeles after the U.S. Civil War. Write an essay that compares and contrasts how their lives followed larger trends in U.S. politics and society. As you compare these trends in Sanchez with those in U.S. society, be sure to write about regional differences and different social groups when relevant. Of these trends, which trend stands out the most for helping us understand the United States from the 1870s to 1945 and why?
2) A number of social movements emerged after the Civil War to challenge the nation’s dominant political culture, liberalism, and to make the labor question the national question to address. Write about the three kinds of social movements that worked on solving the economic and political problems related to the labor question from the 1870s to 1945. Of the three kinds of social movements, which kind of social movement or which specific movement had the best chance of solving the labor question for the most people and why? -
Title: The Religious Revival of the Early 1800s in America and Its Impact on Society
Religion had a profound impact on American’s lives during the first half of the nineteenth century. Why did so many in the United States turn toward religion in the early 1800s? What impact did this increased religiosity have on American society?
this is the question that needs to be answered. please cite some sources
