  • Title: Timeline of Federal Laws and Executive Orders Impacting Employees in the US Employment Landscape (1865-Present)

    Assignment #1 is a listing of relevant Federal laws and Executive Orders from 1865 to present that directly impact employees – workers across the US employment landscape.
    Identify the most relevant 35 of these forms of legislation.
    Develop a timeline (Word or Powerpoint, etc.) of all the FEDERAL POLICIES/LAWS and EXECUTIVE ORDERS that impact HUMAN RESOURCES (only) from 1865 to present.
    There should be a total of 35 entries.
    Only include those that directly impact employees of all types and situations in the workplace. 
    Be creative. Use the Textbook and you can double check the information through a Google search of the information. Do not include information that is not directly related to Human Resources and Employees.
    NOTE: Federal policies or laws are major legislation passed by the Congress that apply to all, except for the special categories. The EEOC governs these laws. 
    Executive Orders are decrees that the president of the US issues that must be complied with at the federal government level that affects federal employees, specifically. The OFCCP branch of the DOL oversees these orders. 
    This assignment is not asking for BILLS… ONLY Laws/Orders THAT IMPACT HR. Review Chapter 2. Others can be found by an internet search.
    There are at least 35 items that should be on this list, starting with the 13th and 14th Amendments, ending with the most recent legislation.  (Include what President Biden signed on May 20, 2021 and on March 15, 2022).
    You are free to design this timeline, but the following information is required for each item you identify:
    The date of the legislation
    Name of the legislation
    Summary of its purpose. Any key additional resources/agencies that resulted from the law/order should also be mentioned -briefly.
    Target population of the legislation (who does it support)
    Oversight agency (EEOC or OFCCP)
