1. Are competitive sports “healthy?” Take some time to address both sides of the argument before sharing your opinion. While this is largely an opinion-based question, your opinion must be supported by logical arguments, facts, and concepts from the materials.
2. What are the pros and cons of “elite youth sport?” Do you believe sport specialization is beneficial?

The Learning Experience of Mastering a Skill: A Reflection on Motor Learning Principles
Choose a skill to perform and document your learning experience.
Write a 6-page reflection paper using the provided template.
Ensure your reflection paper includes the following sections:
Introduction: Provide an overview of your chosen skill and the purpose of your reflection.
Stages of Learning: Discuss how you progressed through the three stages of learning according to Fitts and Posner’s model (Chapter 12).
Motor Learning Principles: Select three Motor Learning Principles (MLPs) covered in the course (e.g., feedback, practice distribution) and explain how they were applied to your learning experience.
References: Include a separate page for your reference list, following APA style format. Do not use the reference section to meet the page requirement.
Use the provided template, ensuring you do not delete the titles and page numbers.
Follow the formatting requirements:
Use 12-point Times New Roman font.
Double-space the entire document.
Maintain 1-inch margins on all sides.
Do not include extra space between paragraphs and sections.
Ensure your reflection paper meets the length requirement of a minimum of 6 full pages and a maximum of 10 pages.
Cite all sources utilized following APA style format. Only cite Magill and Anderson (YYYY) and/or Danny (2010), but do not cite slides.
Proofread and edit your reflection paper for grammar, spelling, and coherence.
Review the assignment instructions and rubric to ensure you have addressed all required elements.
Submit your completed reflection paper within the designated timeframe.
THE THREE PRINCIPLES THAT I CHOSE:
1. Cognitive mediation theory
A theory that explains the advantages of a demonstration suggests that when someone watches a model, they process the movement information they see and turn it into a cognitive code that they remember and use to duplicate the skill.
2. Distribution of practice principle – Distributed vs Massed
A distributed practice schedule is one where there is a significant gap in time between practice sessions or trials. When following a massed practice program, there is extremely little downtime in between sessions or trials
3. Augmented feedback principle – concurrent, terminal, etc.
• A generic term used to describe information about a performance that supplements
the sensory feedback and comes from a source external to the performer; it is some-
times referred to as extrinsic or external feedback!

“Exploring Key Concepts in Sport Management” “The Unique Aspects of Professional Sports: Interdependence, Shorter Career Lifespan, Athlete Branding, and Sport as a Social Institution”
Reply to each of my peers I list below. It could be simple but keep it relevant.
What Did You Learn (Chapters 1-6, Unit 1)?
Reply from Marco Lopez
Chapter 1: Critical thinking is not simply thinking, negative thinking, or creative thinking. This key concept really stuck with me because it shows a deeper level of thinking in which you really have to devote your time and efforts in order to find a solution.
Chapter 2: Ethical decision making was a huge concept because I really liked the fact that people made decisions based on their beliefs and what they thought was right or wrong in certain situations.
Chapter 3: Organizational strategies like identifying goals and objectives. I personally think that a big part of success comes from having clean goals and little by little reaching them. Objectives play a huge part as well because it’s usually never an easy path to reach your goals, and you will be tested along the way with multiple objectives.
Chapter 4: Leadership was a key concept that stood out to me because in every sport there are leaders. The concept of leadership is so intriguing because every leader has their method of success, and although sometimes they are questionable methods, they work.
Chapter 5: Sexism in a sport really stood out to me because to this day, we have certain sports in which female competitors are very rare even though they would like to participate. That is because the “norm” is for all males to play which I feel like is unfair.
Chapter 6: Gathering information really stood out to me because it plays a huge part in managerial skills. Managers should make decisions based off certain things like players attitude, how they work with teammates, and how they perform in certain situations.
Reply from Chase Grosfeld
Chapter 1:
– The concept of sport management being multifaceted and encompassing various disciplines such as marketing, finance, and human resources management was an “a-ha moment” for me.
– Understanding the historical evolution of sport management and how it has grown into a distinct field was enlightening.
Chapter 2:
– Learning about the different types of sport organizations, including professional, amateur, and recreational, made me realize the diversity within the sports industry.
– Understanding the significance of governance structures in sport organizations and their impact on decision-making processes was eye-opening.
Chapter 3:
– Exploring the role of leadership in sport organizations and how effective leadership can drive success was insightful.
– Understanding the importance of organizational culture and its influence on employee behavior and performance was a key takeaway for me.
Chapter 4:
– Learning about the various functions of management, including planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling, provided a comprehensive understanding of managerial roles in sport organizations.
– Understanding the difference between managers and leaders and how they complement each other in achieving organizational goals was a valuable insight.
Chapter 5:
– Exploring the principles of organizational behavior and how they apply to sport organizations helped me understand the dynamics of employee behavior and motivation.
– Learning about the importance of diversity and inclusion in sport organizations and how they contribute to organizational effectiveness was an important takeaway.
Chapter 6:
– Understanding the principles of strategic management in sport organizations and how they contribute to long-term success was a significant learning point.
– Learning about the process of strategic planning and how it helps organizations align their resources with their goals was enlightening.
4 Aspects of Professional Sport
Reply from Oscar Avalos
Professional sports differ from other industries in several ways:
1. Labor Management relations: regulates contracts of athletes, coaches, and other faculty members and ensures they are being treated fairly
Emphasis on Performance and Interdependence: Success in professional sports is highly dependent on individual and team performance, with tangible outcomes such as wins, losses, and statistics. In professional sports, teams and players are competitors on the field but rely on each other to sustain the league or sport. This interdependence means that while teams compete, they must also cooperate to maintain the integrity and viability of the league, through agreements on rules, schedules, and revenue sharing.
Shorter Career Lifespan and Free Agency: Athletes typically have limited years to compete at a high level due to physical demands, making career longevity shorter than in many other professions. Because of short careers the creation of free agency gives every team an opportunity to develop and grow with other clubs or franchises. This allows rebuilding teams and restructuring contracts.
Athlete Branding and Endorsements: Professional athletes often build personal brands that attract lucrative endorsement deals, leveraging their fame and influence beyond their sporting careers. With endorsements, this gives the leagues and teams profit and gain coverage towards the club or franchise.
Reply from Walter Pinto
The 4 main aspects of professional sport that make it unique to other industries are it’s marketing, financial structures, careers involved, and sport as a social institution. In what other industry can the careers of so many be affected by immediate results that are ultimately out of your control. Sure a coaching staff can condition you to become faster and stronger, and build on your technique, but ultimately the results of a few athletes can make or break a season. Your facing other teams that are also on top of their game, and losing isn’t necessarily down to a lack of preparation. It’s due to a number of tangibles and non-tangibles, something even as luck on a single shot, basket or touchdown can change the face of an organization over night. Specifically in football, you will notice how hard it is to maintain a managing position for more than a season. -
“The Role of Physical Therapy in Enhancing Outcomes Across Diverse Subspecialties: A Review and Analysis of Treatment Interventions and Research Findings”
Prepare for and complete an oral presentation of your findings to an audience of faculty and students. This should last between 15 and 30 minutes. It should be formatted as an explanation of each of the subspecialties and then using some of the research articles you used in your papers to provide detailed examples of treatment interventions investigated and their outcomes. Inclusion of information from the interviews may also be used. This will need to be scheduled in the second half of April.
The idea is to provide an explanation of the role of the PT in each of the 5 different subdisciplines. Key information would be a problem each type of patient has, what the therapeutic activity is, how the PT accomplishes that, and how effective it is based on the results of a study on that treatment. In other words, the therapeutic activity would be reinforced by a research article you used. You don’t need all 5 articles from each topic. Just choose one (two at most) that helps you make your point. A little explanation of the methods of the study will also help provide context to the results. Lastly, a little about what the subject of your interview says about research from a student’s perspective will help round out the presentation.
the 5 subdisciplines are ( Neurological Rehabilitation, Acute Care Inpatient Hospital Rehabilitation, Burn and Woundcare Rehabilitation, Pediatrics Rehabilitation, Homecare Rehabilitation) -

Then go to “Modules” and then DB 3-5 & 7 need to be completed. Please also respond to 2 classmates PER DB, so altogether 2 classmates for 4 DB=8 classmates you should be responding to. Just write feedback and any positive criticism about what you liked about their post or what you think they need to work on when writing their post. You can write anything about their internship experience too.
For my posts, you’ll need to refer to this information:
I worked at Vibrantcare Rehabiliation as a physical therapy aide.
I assisted the physical therapists with healing clients by teaching them exercises to help them recover their conditions, performed electrical stim and placed ice or heat on certain patients, cleaned the clinic, ensured that all the equipment was put back in its rightful place and also did the laundry.
I also multitasked as a receptionist.
I dealt with the patient’s insurances, authorizations for getting more appointments approved, discharging patients no longer needed physical therapy, arrived patients on the online schedule when they came to their appointment, collected copays, created new patient’s paperwork, scanned the new patient’s photo IDs, insurance cards and new patient paperwork on their first appointment, pulled patients charts for the next day’s appointment schedule, did patients reports, and contacted new patients to recommend physical therapy at our clinic.”
I will also provide a sample of my discussion board posts so that you can get information out of that. You may use them but please put all your discussion board posts into your own words and elaborate more on your own knowledge please! Thank you and good luck! 🙂
When finish the initial posts, I can submit the posts online then I can provide the peers responses as a sample too if needed because I am unable to see my peers responses until I post my initial response. Thank you! -
