  • Title: Digitization and Preservation Grant Application for the Columbia University Rare Book Collection

Please USE Draft to build the paper. INSTRUCTIONS
Time to put it all together: Using the
midterm and the digitization plan as starting points, draft a grant application
to preserve and digitize a collection, complete with budget. Roughly 12-15 pages
    ●
    Describe the Collection
(nature, size, format, history) and its preservation challenges (inherent
vices) as you did in the midterm. Explain the significance of this collection
and why it has intrinsic value (alternatively if you feel it only has
informational value make the case for that). It may be useful to briefly describe the holding institution
    and its mission. Columbia University
    ●
    Describe your
preservation workplan, which may include any or all of the following elements:
archival rehousing, improved storage environment, hands-on conservation
treatments, and/or reformatting for access and preservation. Include your
    digitization methodology.
    ●
    Your final workplan
should include how many staff hours are needed and a funding budget for staff,
equipment and supplies. You do not need a budget spreadsheet but it may be
helpful to create one to calculate your budget.
    ●
    Unlike in a real
grant, I’ll expect source citations and a bibliography of sources at the end
(10-15 sources). You do NOT have to annotate these.
