Exploring a central debate about the ‘music city’ concept, incorporating research material/debates from other academic and media literature (and other city debates outside Melbourne). 
The topic will be Economic Impact of Music Cities: A Comparative Analysis.
The research aim is to analyze the economic contributions of music cities through job creation, tourism, and other financial benefits, using case studies from Nashville, Austin, and Liverpool, and to compare these findings with Melbourne’s music economy.

The Gordon Rule (a Florida state law) stipulates that you display your writing skills by writing approximately 2000 words for this course (about eight pages excluding the cover and works cited pages). The 2000 words will come from a term paper as described below:
This report should be on the analysis, theory, development, or performance practice of a specific genre/style of music or performer.
You must bring your final draft to the Student Learning Center; they will issue a receipt.
The paper must be well organized with good paragraphs, proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
The citation style must be Chicago or MLA.
Written in 12-point, Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins.
The paper includes a cover page with the title of your paper, name, instructor’s name, and course title.
There needs to be at least 5 supporting SCHOLARLY REFERENCES (no Wikipedia, blogs, or non-scholarly sources can be used). At least two print references are to be used.

World Music Performance Assignment

Instructions: The objective of this assignment is to give you an opportunity to experience a live musical performance of music from one of the cultures studied in this class ONLY (African, Indigenous, Asian, etc.).  You will be required to view a performance (with real musicians/singers) live or via Youtube (May not be a “music video”).  You will identify a world Ethnic music performance that is NOT from your own cultural background.  The goal is to have you venture outside of your “comfort zone” so to speak and experience a musical performance that you might not otherwise listen to/view.  The performance that you choose MAY NOT be one of the examples that you viewed in any of our class Modules but must be one of the genres.
NOTE:  Your essay will be scanned for plagiarism/AI usage through Turnititn.  Be sure that you use your own words to write the essay.
Feel free to reach out to me if you are not sure your musical choice is acceptable.
Requirements:  Attend 1 live music performance (at least 1-2 full songs of a recorded live musical performance and submit a 2-3 page critical reflection along with a LINK to the performance.  Your written reflection will be based on your analysis of the musical performance.  Your Essay MUST address the following:

This semester you will create a paper, presentation, or video on a musical topic of your choosing. You will talk about influences, function, style and put those vocab words to use all while building a compelling narrative.  THE TOPIC I HAVE CHOSEN IS THE GENRE OF BEPOP WITH A CLOSER LOOK AT CHARLIE PARKER. 
A LIST OF SOURCES IS DUE 4/3 AND AN OUTLINE AND SOURCES IS DUE 5/6. THE FINAL ASSIGNMENT IS DUE 5/20.
Grading Criteria
15% Formatting
This is the easy one! If your project has no grammatical or spelling errors and (if it’s a paper) is double-spaced with a heading, title and indented paragraphs – you’ve done it! Also, make sure your Bibliography is correctly formatted. 
35% Content / Voice
Voice – Have a coherent narrative that includes your voice. (I mean your written voice, not a recording) 
Originality – Discussion of only the most obvious things about your topic will result in a lower grade than if you tell me something unusual or not widely known. For instance, paraphrasing an entry from the Encyclopedia Britannica is less desirable than finding some item of information from more specific, in-depth research.  Don’t forget to correctly use citations.
Specificity – Stay on topic and get to the point. No fluff or filler.
Organization – Are your paragraphs well organized and fluent (don’t forget about paragraph indentations)?  
25% Bibliography
Just use this handy  bibliography generator to make sure you use the correct format to cite your sources!
Cite at least four different good sources. List these sources as references at the end of your project.  Use in-text citations.   Wikipedia is not an acceptable source. However, you may begin there and use the materials that are listed as references within those articles.  YouTube may be acceptable as long as the item is an interview or documentary. Good sources are books, journals, articles and academic papers and you can find them on databases like JSTOR. 
25% In-text Citations
When you include information that you have learned from sources, use an in-text citation e.g. “(Chapman, 43)” to tell me where it connects to your bibliography. Use at least six regardless of your format (i.e. presentations, videos, papers) all projects need in-text citations.

This assignment is a term paper about the history of women in 90’s hip hop and how they have shaped/paved the way for female hip-hop artists today. 
The term paper should have a thesis statement which will be
supported by cited evidence: in other words, this paper has a point of view
that can be supported. Note: this SHOULD NOT merely be a biographical paper,
detailing life events of your favorite musical artist. This project will grant
you ample space to draw from several of the themes we have explored throughout
the term, including but not limited to race, gender, class, mainstreams and
alternatives, and genre fusion. The paper should be between 8-9 pages,

Remember: is just a report, meaning you can start by establishing the performance’s what/where/when/who, then a quick overview of the ensemble/performers and finally, just choose something specific to elaborate. Something that caught you eye/ear (could be a song, a performance, an instrument, etc). Also Remember is just 2 or 3 pages top.

I have 3 writing assignments for music that i need by May, 26 at 11:59. It just needs to be filled in for the 5 elements if music in each song. There is a template i will attach and needs to look like that. It doesnt have to be page, just complete sentences in a paragraph for each element. And also use music vocabulary.
