  • Title: Ethical Considerations in the Estate of Travaglini v. Ingalls Health Case

Case box example 3.3 (page 57) of your ‘Leading and Managing in Nursing’ eBook:
In Estate of Travaglini v. Ingalls Health (2009), an 84-year-old patient was admitted to the hospital with general complaints of “not feeling well.” At the time of his admission, the physician told the admitting nurse that the patient had dysphagia and must be observed whenever he was eating or trying to swallow liquids. At 10:00 that evening, an aide came to the patient’s room and left a sandwich for him to eat. Shortly afterward, the patient’s roommate heard the patient choking and summoned help.
At autopsy, it was confirmed that he had aspirated the turkey sandwich, and that this was the cause of the cardiopulmonary arrest that killed the patient. Though liability was found against the aide and her supervisor, the court also upheld a verdict of $500,000 against the hospital.
    ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTION
In your eBook, this client care scenario is viewed from a legal lens and how the UAP, the supervisor, and the hospital were found negligent. Because ethics and legal principles often overlap, consider the same scenario from an ethical standpoint. Answer the following questions, record your answers on a Word document, and upload it below. Always give credit to your sources.
Define beneficence and non-maleficence. Discuss how they are similar, yet different, and give examples of each.
How were both of these ethical principles not upheld in the given scenario?
Rewrite the scenario of this client with dysphagia to uphold these ethical principles. Consider the rights of delegation. What could the provider, admitting nurse, and the UAP do differently to ‘do good’ while also ‘doing no harm’? What provider orders should be included?
Start your scenario with the same opening sentence: An 84-year-old patient was admitted to the hospital with general complaints of “not feeling well.”
Record your responses on a Word document and upload it below.
Give credit to your sources using APA 7th edition format; use both in-text citations and on a reference page. Please visit the Writing Center if you need assistance.

    Module 6 Discussion
Attention & Substance Related Disorders Answer the questions below based on the following case study.
An 8-year-old boy is repeatedly in trouble at school. He has been threatened with suspension after he was verbally and physically aggressive to his teacher. The school has suggested that he has a problem with his concentration and advised his parents to seek help. The school also referred him to the school child psychologist. He keeps wriggling in his seat. His mother says his concentration is fine when he is playing on his computer. What worries her is that he does not seem to think before he does things and will run out across the road without looking.
    Summarize the clinical case.
What is the DSM 5-TR diagnosis based on the information provided in the case?
Which pharmacological treatment would you prescribe according to the clinical guidelines? Include the rationale for this treatment.
Which non-pharmacological treatment would you prescribe according to the clinical guidelines? Include the rationale for this treatment excluding a psychotherapeutic modality.
Include an assessment of the treatment’s appropriateness, cost, effectiveness, safety, and potential for patient adherence to the chosen medication. Use a local pharmacy to research the cost of the medication and provide the most cost-effective choice for the patient. Use great detail when answering questions 3-5.

  • “Improving Childhood Immunization Rates through Parental Education: Exploring Perceptions, Beliefs, and Interventions” “Enhancing Childhood Immunization Rates: Identifying Successful Approaches and Improving Practice among Clinicians”

WEEK 4 DISCUSSION: LEVELS OF MEASUREMENT
What is the incidence of blood clots from COVID-19 in females over the age of 35?
The above question is an example of a research question. A research question consists of three parts and guides the methods and approaches in which you will study the question to find answers. The research question includes: the question, the topic, and the population or variables. In the example provided above, the question is examining the prevalence of blood clots from severe COVID-19 in a selected population. From this question, the variables can be assessed, considerations can be analyzed, and populations can be sampled in order to guide the research.
During Week 2, you developed a research problem statement based on a topic of interest to you or your specific area of practice. Using this research problem statement, you will develop a research question. “A research question is a concise, interrogative statement that is worded in the present tense and includes one or more of a study’s principal concepts or variables” (Gray & Grove, 2020). These questions typically point to the type of study that will be conducted and serves as a guide for the research.
For this Discussion, reflect on your research problem statement. Consider the independent and dependent variables of your research problem through the construction of a research question. Reflect on the potential levels of measurement for your variables and the rationale for the labels, as well as consider the advantages and challenges that you might experience in the statistical analysis of your proposed variables.
Reference: Gray, J. R., & Grove, S. K. (2020). Burns and Grove’s the practice of nursing research: Appraisal, synthesis, and generation of evidence (9th ed.). Elsevier.
    TO PREPARE:
Review your research problem statement from Week 2 to develop your research question.
Review the Learning Resources on how to describe variables.
Consider the levels of measurement for your variables: nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio.
After reviewing your research question and considering the levels of measurement, analyze your classification for each variable. What was behind your reasoning for labeling the variables? How might the data be analyzed based on these labels?
Consider advantages and challenges that you might encounter in the statistical analysis of your proposed variables.
Main Post Week 2 : Starting the Research Process
Childhood immunizations are essential in reducing the rates of fatal diseases in children and enhancing their general health. Nevertheless, there are a lot of things that could be improved regarding parental knowledge about immunizations even though all of them are proven to be effective. This lack of understanding has reduced immunization coverage and exposed children to numerous preventable diseases (Albers et al., 2022). As a pediatric nurse, I must look closely at this problem and identify the best ways to enhance parental education while working for higher immunization rates. The suggested study will focus on discovering why parents don’t grasp the information related to the immunization of children. Therefore, based on the participants’ perceptions, beliefs, and possible challenges, this study aims to identify strategies for education intervention to improve the parents’ knowledge and attitude towards immunization. Socioeconomic status, academic level, cultural differences, and source of healthcare data will be examined in the study. Furthermore, issues touching on ethics like consent, privacy, and cultural sensitivity shall also be observed. In conclusion, this study aims to enhance positive practice changes in nursing by providing healthcare workers with knowledge and improved strategies for communicating on immunization and alleviating parental concerns, resulting in increased immunization coverage and the security of children’s lives.
This research problem is of significance because it relates to an issue of public health concern affecting children and their future. Hereby, identifying successful approaches, this study can contribute to enhancing immunization rates and, therefore, safeguard high-risk groups. This study’s findings will help improve practice among clinicians, establishing immunization coverage among the target groups as part of public health strategies. Thus, Al-Edresee (2021) explains that by enhancing parents’ knowledge, it will be possible to cultivate improved family relationships with healthcare providers and develop a healthier population.

  • Title: “The Role of Watson’s Theory of Transpersonal Care in Guiding a Study on Nurse-Patient Relationships in Long-Term Care Facilities”

The research framework is essentially the backbone of your proposed study. “It is an abstract, logical structure of meaning, such as a portion of a theory, which guides the development of the study and enables the researcher to link the findings to nursing’s body of knowledge” ( Grove, & Gray, 2019, p. 180). Is it based on a theory or conceptual model?
A theoretical framework should be based on an established theory like Watson’s Theory of Transpersonal Care or Lewin’s Change Theory, etc. A conceptual model is generally represented in a diagrammatic format similar to Neuman’s Systems Model or the Chronic Care Model. You may also design your own conceptual model, but established ones are more valid because they have been tested repeatedly.
