Please respond in a scholarly manner to both of your colleagues and your instructor. Make sure that you use proper grammar, word usage, and writing mechanics. In addition, make sure to properly cite and reference.
    One:
Module Seven: Discussion – Role in Alternative Dispute Resolution and the Trial Process
    Mediation
The role of a LNC during mediation is to educate and detect inaccuracies. They serve as a resource to the attorney and mediator. “When complex medical issues are introduced, the mediator sometimes needs more information on the standard of care, the medical issues in dispute, or explanation of medical terminology” (Dickinson & Meyer, 2020, p. 907). With their extensive medical background, LNCs can provide the education needed to help win a case.
    Arbitration
The role of a LNC during arbitration is to “initiate the process of preparing the submission to the arbitrator(s)” (Dickinson & Meyer, 2020, p. 904). LNCs review the documents and obtain the arbitration agreement. The LNC should further review documentation and interview needed experts. They should also educate the team regarding medical issues. This will assist in determining if the arbitration document is legally binding.
    Trial Consultants
The role of a LNC during trial consultants is to assist in organizing, preparing, and presenting a case. The LNC should be familiar with the jurisdictional requirements. The LNC “must also be aware of whether the attorney intends to introduce specific documents, records, or other exhibits into evidence through a particular witness” (Dickinson & Meyer, 2020, p. 926).
    Jury Research
The role of a LNC during jury research is to come up with questions for the attorney to ask during jury selection. They also need to be present when the attorney asks the questions to the jurors so they can observe their reactions to the questions asked. They should keep detailed notes of the process for the attorney to have easy access for review.
    Trial Preparation
The role of a LNC during trial preparation is to assist with witness preparation. The LNC should establish rapport with the witness. They need to familiarize them with courtroom procedures, communication, demeanor, and how to answer questions while on the stand. During trial preparation, the LNC can determine any inconsistencies and identify any information that can be harmful to the case. By preparing witnesses, it can create a better trial testimony.
    Trial Process
The role of a LNC during trial process is to keep clear and concise records to determine any inconsistencies. The LNC “should be very familiar with the relevant medical records, can point out inaccuracies between the testimony and the medical records” (Dickinson & Meyer, 2020, p. 936). LNCs relay information to the experts and notify them of any changes such as if a case settles before they have to testify.
    Post-Trial Activities
The role of a LNC during post-trial activities is to interview jurors after the trial ends. LNCs should gather information from the juror that may help in future cases. They should ask them “questions about the attorney’s presentation, including demeanor, the exhibits, or the witnesses” (Dickinson & Meyer, 2020, p. 939).

    Two:
Mediation is a way to solve legal conflicts when two or more parties are at odds and unable to settle on their own. It is held outside the courtroom and allows resolution without going in front of a judge. During mediation, LNC’s can answer questions posed by the plaintiff or defendant to assist them in understanding the nuances of the negotiations (Dickinson & Meyer, 2020). The LNC makes sure there are no miscommunications.
Arbitration is the process for resolution without going in the court room. Arbitration may be voluntary, required by dispute settlement provision in a contract between the parties, or mandated by statue or court order (Dickinson & Meyer, 2020). The LNC interacts with medical experts with interviewing them and making sure they understand their testimony.
Trial Consultants provide assistance during the jury selection. The LNC plays a crucial role in jury selection, because nurses are trained to observe details (Dickinson & Meyer, 2020). They observe the reactions of potential jurors when they are asked questions and to make sure their responses fit the profile of the case. All responses are kept in a notebook if needed by the attorney during the case.
Jury Research is used by the attorneys for an understanding of the jurors. The attorneys hope to gain an understanding of courtroom experience for the jurors and how they determine guilt/innocence. The LNC assist the attorneys with research through observation and reaction of the jurors when asked questions.
Trial Preparation is also referred as the discovery process. Discovery is defined as , “The act or process of finding or learning something that was previously unknown” (Garner, 2014, p. 564). Legal nurse consultants possess extensive knowledge and may work in broad spectrum of legal environments, making it a formidable task to present work samples in legal settings (Dickinson & Meyer, 2020).
Trial Process includes the opening statements, presenting the evidence of both parties, closing arguments, and the jury’s verdict. The LNC should have reviewed medical records, case facts, opposing experts opinions, and relevant deposition testimony (Dickinson & Meyer, 2020). All discussions are reviewed, strengths and weaknesses, and experts theories.
Post-Trial Activities includes jury interviews. The LNC is less intimidating and more approachable to the jurors. Juror interviews can provide constructive feedback for the legal team for future cases. Bill of costs are supplied for services that are incurred. Post trial motions or appeals are processed. They are ruled by the judge that performs the trial.

  • Title: Analysis of an Evidence-Based Intervention in a Quantitative Research Study for a Practice Change Project

This discussion demonstrates your understanding of the evidence-based intervention in a quantitative research study as the intervention you translate to patients in your practice change project. As you work to find solutions for your selected practice problem during the design phase of your future practice change project, an evidence-based intervention is found through the critical review and appraisal of quantitative research. As stated in this week’s lesson, the evidence-based intervention you are looking for is not the standard of care for your patients. Recall the implementation timeframe for your MSN practice change project is 8 to 12 weeks.  However, the published research you find will have taken place over a much longer timeframe.  A single research study could be 1 to 3 years or longer.  The important element of finding the right research supporting your intervention is that the intervention was shown to impact the outcome with statistical significance.
    Instructions
As a  student, you are searching for an evidence-based intervention to translate into practice. Using the practice problem, you selected in NRw715, continue your search and appraisal of evidence by analyzing one quantitative research study. This research study should not be one that was used in NRw715.
Appraise the quantitative research study using the Johns Hopkins Research Appraisal Tool. Transfer your findings to the Johns Hopkins Individual Evidence Summary Tool.
Include your completed Johns Hopkins Individual Evidence Summary Tool and permalink to the selected research study.
Analyze the evidence summary tool of the research study to address the following in the discussion:
Identify the outcomes specific to the intervention measured by the research team.
Considering implementation fidelity, identify the steps you would take to during the design phase to translate/ implement this intervention in a practice setting.

  • Interprofessional Collaboration: Reflection and Best Practices for Success “Improving Interprofessional Collaboration and Leadership: Lessons Learned from Reflection and Literature” “Effective Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Strategies for Managing Resources and Achieving Organizational Goals”

For this assessment, you will create a 5-10 minute video reflection that addresses either an interprofessional collaboration you experienced or a collaboration case study scenario that you imagine you experienced.
    Expand All
    Introduction
Interprofessional collaboration is a critical aspect of a nurse′s work. Through interprofessional collaboration, practitioners and patients share information and consider each other′s perspectives to better understand and address the many factors that contribute to health and well-being (Sullivan et al., 2015). Essentially, by collaborating, health care practitioners and patients can have better health outcomes. Nurses, who are often at the frontlines of interacting with various groups and records, are full partners in this approach to health care.
Reflection is a key part of building interprofessional competence, as it allows you to look critically at experiences and actions through specific lenses. From the standpoint of interprofessional collaboration, reflection can help you consider potential reasons for and causes of people′s actions and behaviors (Saunders et al., 2016). It also can provide opportunities to examine the roles team members adopted in a given situation as well as how the team could have worked more effectively.
As you begin to prepare this assessment you are encouraged to complete the What is Reflective Practice? activity. The activity consists of five questions that will allow you the opportunity to practice self-reflection. The information gained from completing this formative will help with your success on the Collaboration and Leadership Reflection Video assessment. Completing formatives is also a way to demonstrate course engagement
Note: The Example Kaltura Reflection demonstrates how to cite sources appropriately in an oral presentation/video. Your assessment will reflect on either a professional collaboration you experienced or a collaboration case study scenario that you imagine you experienced

  • Synthesis Paper: The Effects of Social Media on Mental Health

    Assignment Description:
Create the “shell” of your synthesis paper in APA format, following the example below.
Create your title page and add page numbers. Add an Abstract section heading (centered and bold font) for this paper starting on page 2. The main essay sections start on page 3. The main essay section should start with the introduction heading, which is the title of the paper again at the top of page 3 for this paper (centered on line 1, in bold font), followed by these Level One headings (bold and centered) for this specific paper: Literature Review, Discussion, Conclusion. Then the heading for References section starting on following page (centered and in bold font), and the heading for an Annotated Bibliography for this paper on the following page after the reference page (also centered and in bold font). You are not actually writing any of the essay this week, so no text is needed, instead you are setting up a document where you can add your text in future modules – this is called your “Shell”.
    Synthesis Shell Example C (2).docx
ASSIGNMENT: It’s time to put your SHELL together for the main paper you will be writing! How exciting! You won’t be putting any “guts” or writing into this SHELL this week; the outline of sections, called subheadings (formatted in APA), will be graded.
(HOW TO CREATE YOUR SHELL FROM SCRATCH: THIS WILL BE IN A WORD DOCUMENT)
The APA Title page requires the following items: Title, your name, school, professor’s name and credentials, and date of submission (Ex. October 9, 2017). You will choose a title for now – you can change this later if needed; we’re at the beginning of the writing process. Remember, running heads and page numbers in APA are required for the papers in this program. Here is a great video showing you how to accomplish this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8u47x2dvQHs
Abstract  – The abstract page is after the title page on page 2 and is its page
The body of the paper starts on the next page, page 3, with the same title (not bolded) centered on the first line (this will be your introduction section but will be labeled with the title of the paper)—the words “Introduction” are LEFT OFF!
Immediately after the repeat of the title above without any extra spaces (still on page 3) is…..Literature Review (as a level one subheading (bold and centered)
Immediately followed by Discussion (still on page 3 as a level one subheading again (bold and centered)
Immediately followed by Conclusion (page 3 still with a level one subheading again (bold and centered)
The subheading References will be centered on the first line of the following page (page 4) and NOT bolded.
The last page (page 5) has the subheading, Annotated Bibliography, centered NOT bolded.
Remember that each subheading that starts the page must be on line 1!
JUST THE SHELL, BARE BONES THIS WEEK!  We will add each section as we progress through the course.  I recommend you read the comments after grading and immediately make the necessary changes. This will ensure higher marks on your final submissions. Please let me know if you need clarification on anything. Have a fantastic week!
