The literature review is one of the most important components, and often the most time consuming part, of a good research proposal. Without the solid foundation of a good literature review, it is difficult to make a strong research proposal.
This week, you will work to develop a rough draft of your literature review. You will continue to develop the literature review next week based on feedback provided by your instructor. Then in week 7, you will submit a well-polished literature review as part of your final research proposal.
The following requirements should be met in your literature review:
Include a minimum of six scholarly sources
Organize in logical sections
Include an overview of the literature
Be unbiased in your presentation of information
Include sources and content relevant to your research questions and hypothesis; state the relevance in your literature review
Include a critical assessment of the sources. Do not simply include a summary of what you have read
A strong introduction and conclusion, including further questions for research
Proper APA formatting, citations, and references
Keep in mind that this is a rough draft, so the literature review does not need to be perfect. However, you should still submit a literature review with proper APA formatting, correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar that meets all of the specifications of the assignment listed above. You will then receive feedback from your instructor and continue to do more research, and modify and improve your current literature review.

Variation of Sampling methods and sample sizes
Quantitative has a variety of sampling methods like simple random testing, cluster sampling, systematic sampling, and stratified sampling (Lee & Sanders, 2022). Quantitative sets a foundation off numbers, so you need a substantial amount of people to have an effective study. When you dive into qualitative sampling it includes convenience, purposive, snowball, and theoretical sampling. Qualitative focus on the outcome and the complete representation (Lee & Sanders, 2022). The sample size for qualitative is smaller. In quantitative research, sample sizes tend to be higher than qualitative studies, because researchers are not relying heavily on statistics (Jones, 2024).
Sampling Method
I would use the purposive sampling method of quantitative research. My topic is distraction techniques for people with dementia. So, with purposive sampling, researchers intentionally select participants with specific characteristics or unique experiences related to the research question (Abaas, 2023). So, I would gather dementia patients in hopes of producing a solution that represents the entire population of people with dementia. There are four types of sampling techniques to choose from one being purposive sampling, convenience sampling which is beneficial when time is limited, snowball sampling which is the process of asking other participants to refer people, and theoretical sampling which is when participants are chosen based on their ability to contribute to the themes and data (Abaas, 2023).
By this being a quantitative research approach, I would first determine my group, which is dementia patients. This can be a large group, so then I would filter out mild impaired dementia patients. When determining the sample type, it is important to know what outcome you are trying to achieve. When using purposive sampling the goal is to recruit participants who can provide rich and diverse data to enhance the research findings (Abaas, 2023). The group size will be small, and I found a sample size calculator to help me determine that my group size would be approximately 34 patients. -
“Implementing a Health Promotion Plan: A Presentation for Community Education” Title: “Promoting Health: A Comprehensive Presentation on Creating Effective Health Promotion Plans”
This assessment provides an opportunity for you to apply teaching and learning concepts to the presentation of a health promotion plan.
Note: This is the second part of a two-part assessment. You must complete Assessment 1 before completing this assessment.
Preparation
As you begin to prepare this assessment, you are encouraged to complete the Vila Health: Conducting an Effective Educational Session activity. The information gained from completing this activity will help you succeed with the assessment as you consider key issues in conducting an effective educational session for a selected audience. Completing activities is also a way to demonstrate engagement.
For this assessment, you will conclude the clinical learning activity you began in Assessment 1.
You will resume the role of a community nurse tasked with addressing the specific health concern in your community. This time, you will present, via educational outreach, the hypothetical health promotion plan you developed in Assessment 1 to your fictitious audience. In this hypothetical scenario, you will simulate the presentation as though it would be live and face-to-face. You must determine an effective teaching strategy, communicate the plan with professionalism and cultural sensitivity, evaluate the objectives of the plan, revise the plan as applicable, and propose improvement for future educational sessions. To engage your audience, you decide to develop a PowerPoint presentation with voice-over and speaker notes to communicate your plan.
Remember that your first assessment (Assessment 1) MUST be satisfactorily completed to initiate this assessment (Assessment 4).
Please review the assessment scoring guide for more information.
To prepare for the assessment, you may wish to review the health promotion plan presentation assessment and scoring guide to ensure that you understand all requirements.
Note: As you revise your writing, check out the resources listed on the Writing Center’s Writing Support page.
Note: This is the second part of a two-part assessment. You must complete Assessment 1 before completing this assessment.
Instructions
Complete the following:
Prepare a 10–12 slide PowerPoint presentation with a voice-over and detailed speaker notes that reflects your hypothetical presentation. This presentation is the implementation of the plan you created in Assessment 1. The speaker notes should be well organized. Be sure to include a transcript of the voice-over (please refer to the PowerPoint tutorial). The transcript can be submitted on a separate Word document.
Simulate the hypothetical face-to-face educational session addressing the health concern and health goals of your selected community individual or group.
Imagine collaborating with the hypothetical participant(s) in setting goals for the session, evaluating session outcomes, and suggesting possible revisions to improve future sessions.
