Psychiatric Assessment of Children Under 18
After studying Module 1: Lecture Materials & Resources, address the following in a well-written discussion post:
One common dilemma faced by psychiatric nurse practitioners is determining who the “client” is. Given that children are typically brought for treatment by their parents, describe how the psychiatric nurse practitioner would respond to a child who discloses they are indulging in illicit behavior and asks you not to tell his or her parents.
Submission Instructions:
Your initial post should be at least 500 words, formatted, and cited in current APA style with support from at least 2 academic sources.
You should respond to at least two of your peers by extending, refuting/correcting, or adding additional nuance to their posts.

Setting SMART Goals for Clinical Experience: A Guide to Professional Growth
Instructions:
Please make it very detailed.
For this assignment, you will work on setting goals for yourself using the SMART method. You will find an explanation of this method in the module that will guide you in your goal-setting process. You will list a minimum of five professional goals that you would like to accomplish during the clinical experience in this term. For each goal, you must provide an explanation of how the goal is representative of each of the SMART characteristics: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely. Be sure to answer the following questions for each goal summary: Can you measure it? Is it attainable? Is it realistic? What is the time frame you have set for completing that goal?
Format: Each goal summary should be at least 100 words – totaling 500 words for this assignment (added to the speaker notes). The presentation is original work and logically organized, formatted, and cited in the current APA style, including citation of references. The presentation should consist of 10 slides (excluding the introduction and reference page).
SMART Goals Rubric:
Specific: To set a specific goal you must answer the 6 Ws: Who? Who is involved? What? What would I like to accomplish? Where? Where is this happening? When? When do I start/finish? Which? Identify requirements and constraints Why? Why am I doing this? Specific reasons, purpose or benefits! (The goal is personal and identifies areas of weakness in clinical practice. The goal is detailed and clearly focused on the specific skills, behaviors, and/or knowledge outlined in the course objectives.)
Measurable: Goals may have several short-term and on-going measurements so that you can see how you are doing in your aim to achieve your goal. A non-measurable goal: I want to learn how to sing. (A measurable goal: I want to learn 5 arias by Friday, November 12th. Measures have been identified that will demonstrate learning, results, and/or progress as related to the described goal.)
Achievable/Ambitious
A goal should stretch you slightly so you feel you can do it, and it will need a real commitment
from you. Think about what is achievable and what you want to do. (The goal set forth is realistic, motivating, challenging, and can be achievable within the term. There is a clear process described to support achievability.)
Relevant: Realistic goals should have you push you, but not break you! (The goal has a strong connection to the course objectives, the student’s history, current interests, and/or demonstrated abilities.)
Timely: What is your time frame? Putting an end to your goal, or target dates to work towards, gives you a sense of accomplishment as you move toward achieving your goal. With a time frame comes more commitment to achievement! (The goal has a definite date of what will be accomplished by this date and is linked to the measurables. Is within the time frame of this term.)
Use of Citations, Writing Mechanics and APA Formatting Guidelines: References page contains more than required current scholarly academic reference and text reference.. Follows APA guidelines of components: double space, 12 pt. font, abstract, level headings, hanging indent. Rules of grammar, usage and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct.
PowerPoint Slides: PowerPoint presentation contains 10 slides. All parts of the assignment are completed fully and described in the PowerPoint presentation in detail. -

“Mindfulness Techniques for Stress Management in Primary Care: A Plan for Engaging and Treating a Specific Population”
Purpose: Stress can have a negative impact upon one’s health. Students will incorporate knowledge of MI techniques to engage a specific population in an evidence-based activity that reduces stress levels. Through creating a stress management plan, the APRN gains experiential knowledge to utilize in their clinical practice. How do you, as APRN, foresee screening and treating stress or behavioral change in the primary care setting? this should guide the paper.
For this assignment, students will explore a mindfulness technique of interest and apply it to a specific population. Develop a scholarly paper that addresses the following criteria:
Explore pathology of toxic stress levels and scales used to measure.
Incorporate motivational techniques used to develop an effective stress management plan
Identify evidence-based intervention useful for stress management citing effectiveness. (e.g. journal, aerobic exercise, yoga, Pilates, etc.)
Create a Stress Management Plan using two SMART goals for population of interest (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time Bound).
Provide any cultural considerations that may impact success of the intervention.
Submit a 3-to-5-page paper using APA format (intro, conclusion, references) to Assignments in Canvas by the due date.
The scholarly paper should be in narrative format – 3 to 5 pages excluding the title and reference page.
Include an introductory paragraph, purpose statement, and a conclusion.
Include level 1 and 2 headings to organize the paper.
Write the paper in third person, not first person (meaning do not use ‘we’ or ‘I’) and in a scholarly manner. To clarify: I, we, you, me, our may not be used. In addition, describing yourself as the researcher or the author should not be used.
Include a minimum of 4 professional peer-reviewed scholarly journal references to support the paper (review in Ulrich Periodical Directory) and be less than five (5) years old.
APA format is required (attention to spelling/grammar, a title page, a reference page, and in-text citations).

PLEASE RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING POST:
Compare and contrast qualitative and quantitative research designs. Think about this in terms of methodology and outcome.
Quantitative research involves the use of numerical data to address a specific research subject. Regardless of whether the initial data obtained by the researcher are numerical or language-based, a quantitative analysis always targets the features of the data that can be counted or measured. Quantitative study allows enhanced comprehension of the following characteristics of reality: occurrence, correlations between two concepts, and relationships of cause and effect (Gray & Grove, 2017). Simply put, quantitative research is defined by its empirical aspect, meaning that it can be directly observed, measured, or quantified. In contrast, qualitative researchers acquire insights by not quantifying notions or studying statistical correlations (Gray & Grove, 2017). Instead, they enhance our understanding of a phenomenon from the perspective of the individuals in it.
If you were to actually conduct your own research study, would your selected evidence-based practice problem/topic lend itself to a qualitative or quantitative design? (Describe specifics around the topic to support your findings.)
In the evidence-based topic I chose, qualitative research would be the optimal design for me to use as a framework of my research study. The goal of my research is to analyze if supplementing behavioral therapy with aerobic exercise will have a positive, negative, or no impact on the individual’s treatment. This is not something I would want to quantify to relay the information to the targeted audience. While it is possible to quantify it, the quality of the given research would not be encompassing the “why” like qualitative research would. This is a topic that could give much further insight for additional research and since qualitative research focuses on subjective phenomena, I personally think I would be doing a disservice to the research by choosing otherwise. -

PLEASE RESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING POST:
The metaparadigm concept of health plays a crucial role in nursing practice as it serves as the foundation for understanding and promoting wellness in individuals. Health is a complex concept that encompasses physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. In my nursing practice, I have witnessed the impact that health can have on a person’s overall quality of life and their ability to cope with illness.
One nursing theorist who has provided a significant definition of health is Florence Nightingale. Nightingale believed that health was not simply the absence of disease, but rather a state of overall well-being that encompassed physical, mental, and social aspects. She emphasized the importance of creating a healthy environment for patients to promote healing and prevent illness. Nightingale’s holistic approach to health aligns with my own nursing practice, as I strive to provide holistic care that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of my patients.
Another nursing theorist, Jean Watson, has a slightly different interpretation of health. Watson’s theory of human caring emphasizes the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in achieving health and healing. She believes that caring for a patient’s emotional and spiritual well-being is just as important as addressing their physical symptoms. Watson’s emphasis on the importance of connecting with patients on a personal level resonates with my own nursing practice, as I believe that building trust and rapport with patients is essential for providing quality care.
In comparing Nightingale and Watson’s definitions of health, both theorists emphasize the holistic nature of health and the importance of addressing the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of well-being. While Nightingale focuses on creating a healthy environment for patients, Watson emphasizes the importance of caring for patients on a personal and emotional level.
In my own nursing practice, I strive to incorporate elements of both Nightingale and Watson’s theories into my care for patients. Recognizing the complexity of the human experience is an essential element of nursing care (Subrata & Phuphaibul, 2019). I believe that creating a healing environment is essential for promoting health and well-being, but I also recognize the importance of connecting with patients on an emotional and spiritual level. By combining these two approaches, I am able to provide holistic care that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of my patients. -
Title: The Role of Quantitative Research in Understanding and Addressing Hospital Acquired Infections Hospital acquired infections (HAIs) are a significant and preventable issue in healthcare settings, resulting in increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs.
Hello, Thank You for helping me with this order. For this 1 page paper, there are no scholarly references necessary. I will attach additional details, including the rubric below.
Reflect upon the nursing practice issue of interest that you identified in earlier discussion assignments. In addition, consider the intervention that you proposed to improve the issue. (I was thinking to write about hospital acquired infections. There are so much research and stuff out there regarding this issue, so it will be easier to finish this paper.)
With both the issue and the intervention in mind, respond to the following:
What type of evidence produced through quantitative research would be helpful to better understand the selected practice issue?
How might quantitative research findings shape your efforts to improve the issue?
Describe an example (real or hypothetical) of a quantitative research design that would provide valuable evidence regarding this issue. -
Title: Implementing a Catheter Reduction Program to Reduce Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections in Hospitalized Patients
Overview
For this assignment, you will create a PICO(T) question. Your paper should be in APA 7th edition format, including title page and reference page. Address the following:
PARAGRAPH 1: Begin your paper with an introduction to your PICOT topic. This can be any clinical issue you choose -EXCEPT COVID-19 or hand hygiene.
Indicate what you will address in the rest of your paper (introductory statement)
Describe your topic
Describe its significance (this may include statistics on the problem, complications, etc.)
Essentially, explain WHY your problem needs to be addressed
PARAGRAPH 2, FIRST SENTENCE -Determine an appropriate PICO(T) question for addressing. Write your PICO(T) in correct question format. INTERVENTION PICO(T) only. Do not use other types of PICO(T)s. An intervention PICO(T) requires an intervention. For example: using one catheter type vs another, or using saline vs heparin, etc.
PARAGRAPH 2, In your text,
describe your population/patient (consider age, disease/condition, gender or biological sex, etc.)
describe the main intervention (the drug or other treatment you propose) AND the comparison (the main alternative to your drug/treatment intervention -the alternative could be NO treatment)
describe what your outcome (reduced complication – be specific; improved memory; reduced anxiety, etc.) – Whatever the outcome may be, but it must be specific and measurable. You cannot measure “improvement” or “reduced complications”. Be SPECIFIC.
PARAGRAPH 3: Identify and explain 2 facilitators and 2 barriers to implementing the practice you propose in your PICO(T) (What helps/what hinders?)
PARAGRAPH 4: Conclusion: Summarize your paper
Objectives
Develop a clinical question using proper PICO(T) format
Explain the components of a PICO(T) question
Identify facilitators and barriers to implementing a specific EBP practice
References
Minimum of three (3) total references: one (1) reference from required course materials and two (2) peer-reviewed references. All references must be no older than five years (unless making a specific point using a seminal piece of information).
References should support the reasoning behind the PICOT, the problem or the intervention.
Peer-reviewed references include references from professional data bases such as PubMed or CINHAL applicable to population and practice area, along with evidence based clinical practice guidelines.
