The chosen article is a concept analysis of empowerment in the healthcare context. The method of concept analysis used is the Walker and Avant approach. The Walker and Avant approach involves 8 steps; choosing a concept, determining the purpose of the analysis, identifying the possible concept applications, determining the distinguishing characteristics, creating a model case, creating contrary and borderline cases, determining the consequences and antecedents, and defining empirical referents (Alghamdi et al., 2022).
The aim of the author is to assess how the empowerment notion is defined in the scientific literature in the context of healthcare. the purpose of the analysis was to examine literature published by different health-related disciplines that have used the empowerment concept to offer a definition that can be applied in healthcare practice (Alghamdi et al., 2022). Objectives of the defining attributes were to recognize the cluster of features, or defining characteristics, that offer the best concept understanding. The defining attributes of the empowerment concept are the sharing of social power, self-determination and shared decision-making, knowledge and skills, and mutually beneficial connections (Alghamdi et al., 2022). 
Concept analysis is important for developing nursing theory for it helps refine and clarify concepts used in nursing practice. By identifying defining attributes, nurses have an opportunity to understand better the core concepts elements like empowerment, which in turn can guide interventions and promote patient outcomes (Gunawan et al., 2023). Also, concept analysis contributes to research through the provision of a solid foundation for implementing concepts and coming up with measurement tools. In practice, a clear nursing concept definition nurtures communication among healthcare professionals, enhances evidence-based care, and backs the professionalization of nursing by creating a common framework and language for nursing knowledge (Gunawan et al., 2023).

Tracing back to the last century, Freud, founder of psychoanalysis, “found that patients were more willing to communicate because of the presence of his pet” (Ang & MacDougall, 2022, p. 1).
Research Significance
The article helps me understand why the research question is significant to nursing as it continues to be studied and researched in today’s time. It also continues to show benefits and successfulness in kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This is important as therapy is an important part of kids with ASD’s lives. The article states “Therapists and parents noted the positive effects of animal-supported approaches on children with autism, particularly in relation to sensory, emotional, and physical functioning” (And & MacDougall, 2022, p. 1). This is a huge deal for these kids as it gives them a sense of ‘normalcy’ aside from their symptoms and limitations associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This article relates to my PICO question and area of interest as it shows the positive effects that animal assisted therapy has given these kids.
