This semester we have reviewed various Issues and Trends in Contemporary Nursing Practice. Many objectives have been addressed and met. Please take a moment to reflect on the objectives of the course and develop an 8-10-page scholarly paper stating how you have met the outcomes of this course.

Final Project – a scholarly paper is written in BSN465 on the achievement of the eight outcomes associated with BSN465. The learner writes an APA formatted paper on meeting the course outcomes listed above.
Identifies/addresses a relevant topic and a thesis that provides direction for the content that is engaging and thought provoking. The thesis clearly and concisely states the position, premise, or hypothesis and is consistently the focal point throughout the presentation/paper. Demonstrates a sophisticated understanding and careful, critical analysis of the research topic and thesis (argument). Compares/contrasts perspectives, considers counter arguments or opposing positions, and Evaluates original and thoughtful conclusions with future implications.
Produces compelling and accurate evidence to support in-depth analysis to the central position beyond the required (4) research sources with at least 2 sources from a periodical database. Research sources are relevant, accurate, recent (less than 5 years old) and reliable and add to the strength of the content.
Style and voice are appropriate to the given audience and purpose, but also show originality and creativity. Word choice is specific, purposeful, dynamic, and varied. Free of mechanical and typographical errors. A variety of sentence structures and effective figures of speech are used. Writer is clearly in command of standard, written, academic English. APA 7th Edition guidelines for formatting are consistently followed. Includes in-text citations and references. May use 1st person writing as appropriate with the 7th edition APA.

Diversity has a significant influence on health care. Studying transcultural health care helps health professionals understand different cultures in order to provide holistic and individualized health care. Review the Purnell Model for Cultural Competence, including the theory, framework and 12 domains. Write 750-1,000-word paper exploring the Purnell Model for Cultural Competence. Include the following:
Explain culturally sensitive care and its application within health care.
Explain the theory and organizational framework of the Purnell Model, and discuss its relevance to transcultural health care.

From a young age, I have been interested in becoming a nurse because I was born in a poor country with inadequate health benefits that were very costly. This situation caused my aunt to die early from diabetes and kidney failure. My mom and dad also had severe health issues due to their drinking. It made me really upset because I did not know how to help them, and I never want to feel like that again. After leaving Belarus, I felt sad that I was unable to help them, even though they had put me through abuse.  All my life, people have been telling me I wasn’t smart enough or good enough to become a nurse. Despite these doubts, I have always wanted to help people because I have seen close friends and family members die from preventable health issues. I want to become a nurse to help people become better and healthier. My goal is to become a successful nurse who can help anyone in need. This fascination, coupled with a desire to make a meaningful difference in the world, has guided me towards a career in Nursing and Allied Health. My career objectives are rooted in a commitment to providing compassionate care, advancing my knowledge and skills, and contributing to the improvement of healthcare systems.
I lived with a host family who often told me I wasn’t smart enough or good enough to become a nurse. They convinced me that it was the truth, and for years, I took classes that I was not passionate about. they put me through emotional abuse. Thinking i was able to escape my physical and emotional abuse. But i was wrong.  Until recently, I realized that they were wrong and that I am capable of becoming a nurse. I signed up for the required classes for nursing, finished them, and now I am applying for nursing school. This determination has fueled my commitment to pursue a career in Nursing, driven by a fascination with healthcare and a strong desire to make a meaningful difference in the world. For me, nursing is about providing compassionate care, continually learning and improving, and contributing to the enhancement of healthcare systems. I envision myself as a nurse who genuinely connects with patients, communicates effectively, and truly understands their needs.
